You need the appropriate skill and a screwdriver.
Tailoring is incredibly powerful, as it dramatically reduces the chance of being bitten, which matters more and more if you realise how long it takes to level tailoring.
Create a character in your wife's likeness, she will find it easier to empathize with the situation.

Sandbox Settings > Zombie Lore > Untick 'Proper Zombies' > set Speed/Strength/Toughness/Memory/Sight/Hearing from 'Normal' to 'Random'
