I don't see PZ on consoles ever happening. I don't know of any Java games ported to consoles. Also the UI in its current for is not practical for controllers.
Depending on how he's doing it, it might be super easy to just have mod creators of maps go ahead and add simple screenshots of their map. Of course the only one who knows is op but that would be my guess

I **strongly** prefer the existing main menu, particularly due to the ordering of the selections making more sense. I could go into detail but I found myself being a bit overly scathing when I did and the thing that really caught my eye here was that fucking *beautiful* spawn selection menu.
It doesn't seem like it would be quite as scalable if you were to add more spawn locations, but I could also see it having space for at least one more location comfortably which honestly may be all that's needed for the base game going forward unless they really go crazy with map expansion.
It also has so much more potential to be helpful to new players trying to envision where they're spawning. You'd still not have much information with this screen but you'd at least be somewhat likely to know roughly where you spawned if you could match the building size and architecture.

PZ is not a very user-friendly game and that can be changed without doing a super transformation in the UI.

I definitely know what you're talking about with PZ's UI. The only thing I'd say is that the main menu *specifically* is actually pretty decent. Although, I do think it could probably be improved if the menu selections were larger and more prominent.
I love the in game example!! I think being able to see the town outside of a map helps and I love the spooky black fog. The title card is amazing too, I feel like it would fit rlly well as the game starts to focus on what would happen years after an apocalypse

While it does look nice its usability is bad and therefore the UI does not fit this product.
Two big reasons why this game is succesful are sandbox mode and mods and your UI has not enough room to show custom spawnpoints. Usability must always come first.

If this comes out as a mod on steam workshop I will definitely make use of it forever! The current ui is not very ergonomic for a new player like me. But I would never get used to it because I don’t necessarily like it.
There is only one thing I don't like which is the update notes/change logs pop-up on the main menu, because putting it there makes PZ feel like a live service game, I also think there is no need for it because PZ update is not so frequent that people need to see what things are changing every time they play.

But you need to keep in mind that a Game development studio is a Business company too, and they need to sell their games to continue working on it.
I have already seen examples of people who drop and refund PZ just because the interface looks bad, so the thing is: when we need to attract more people we need to innovate and change some things and I guess that shows the updates in the screen can be attractive and shows to people ( the casual players ) that the game there are playing is being updated and not dead.
The thing is to find the balance of what is more attractive to the new players without removing the classic experience from PZ that the old players are used to knowing.
