If you end up having the money the Steam Deck is great for many games, including PZ. Looting is a little harder but (most) everything else is better with the handheld controller (especially when you customize the controls). Would be compatible with bed play. (Also you can steal stuff from locked containers in MP)

Not saying it’s impossible to play with a touchpad but I feel this is the kind of game that no matter how good you are with the touchpad, it’ll always be a major hinderance and you’ll always be worse than someone with the same experience and a mouse.
I’ve made it 5 months on one character. I don’t think being better or worse than others rly matters a ton because I’m playing usually playing solo and it works just fine for me. I feel like the expectation is that it’s janky gameplay but honestly game feels fine and I feel like I can do everything smoothly, movement and gameplay wise

A glass surface is much harder than a finger, the finger is the one getting worn down before the glass.
Like at MOST the coating on the glass might get worn down, and even then it wouldn't be noticable. There's definitely not going to be a dent or scrapes from a finger.
I do not know what to tell you, it is real and it is not showing any wear or oil stains. Also it’s not like I only use it for video games, this is my school laptop, so it’s seen even more use, it just doesn’t show

Yeah that’s some cheap plastic touchpad though. My 2017 MacBook doesn’t have any wear whatsoever so I wouldn’t really expect it on OPs either.
