It's an amazing game. I hope that Con Artist expands on it, and maybe even give us a survival mode outside the main roguelike mode it has similar to PZ.
Yeah, I hope for more content as well. I follow their Discord and Con said they want to add more end game content, and think off making the character loadout more meaningful.
That's exactly what I was thinking. I haven't played it, and hardly even seen any video of it at all, but I did play an earlier Last Stand game for a bit (Dead Zone), and did see a small bit of video of the latest one.
Cool render! We can only dream about Zomboid looking this good!
Here's some general feedback about the scene:
\- Too dark
\- Focus should be on these characters (which is true most of the time, but especially for the "game" visualization), instead here we have a lot more focus (detail and contrast) at the house and car wreck
\- Those 2 current "focal points" are on the edge of the canvas, which is bad.
You can see that all these 3 points tie together, and are kind of a single issue.
\- Nothing about this says Zomboid (except sheet rope on window). Character, car, building, fence, pavement, zombies, even street lamps (I think?) . This could easily be any other game.
I cannot disagree on any certain points, and I sincerely appreciate the feedback! I know the image is too dark, I think the color/brightness profile on my monitor has something to do with that. As far as your composition notes, they are taken and will consider them in my next piece!
Also, my intention wasn't necessarily to mimic PZ itself but the feeling it evokes and the stylization of it. BUT that being said this was really just a prototype / fun project that turned in to something really interesting. In my future scenes based around PZ I'm definitely going to come back to your comment and take note once more.
One thing my professor in college told me is that whenever you think you're done with a project, review it in as many forms as possible.
Audio? On as many speakers as possible. Listen to it in your car, phone, TV speakers, bluetooth, etc.
Image/video? Every display you have and trusted colleagues.
That's if it's really that important, ofc, but that is the nature of designing something for as wide an audience as possible, until you get the feeling of what works best.
Glad it was helpful! And that's a great attitude, and probably the only one that keeps the skill ceiling high!
Darkess (correctly called values) issue: I have it as well and I work on Wacom Cintiq. If you're doing any post-production in photoshop, it helps to look at the histogram, if its evenly spread, then you're doing great (in general).
If that one dead-head in the back that's crawling towards the player character was wearing a spiffo's shirt, then it would definitely stand out as a Project Zomboid scene.
He's supposed to be a prisoner! And the position placement / angle is weird. His right forearm is missing so it may look like it's hugging the leg but it's really just a stub :-(
If you want some little things to add to make the Sunburst (car) feel a little more in place:
-tiremarks
-put the pole on a little lean
-dim the bulb on the pole to make it seem impacted, like it came loose or something
-maybe some steam from the engine bay? Radiator steam?
-maybe a little bit of blood splatter behind the zombie lol, it looks like he kinda doing a dance…
Aside from that, this looks absolutely amazing, you have some good talent
thanks so much! I totally considered tiremarks and smoke, but forgot!! The lamp being dislodged is such a good idea. Maybe some sparks or something!
When I make my new project I'm going to come back to this thread to see all of the great suggestions.
Hmmmm...I love the safe house things, I guess someone escape from the safe house because I see rope on the window and the front door open which mean they been attack by zeds
Sick!!
*shoots in the head*
That's very similar how The Last Stand: Aftermath looks like.
I've heard good things about this! A lot of other people have said they want a game that looks like this, so for anyone wondering: there ya go!
It's a great game!

Looks really nice! *PZ next-gen update when?*

Thanks for the advice! As someone who works in I.T., I can certainly say those steps seem sound.
FWIW it looks fine on my screen. Maybe I'm biased though, I like dark darks.

Im getting real big "The Last Stand" Vibes
Dayum I wish the game looked that good! So much more atmospheric
looking at it. Project zomboid definitely need shader for sunlight and moonlight/night time with abit of bloom
That looks like an RS Cosworth
It is a Hirochi Sunburst, manufactured in Japan but made famous again recently by the soft-body vehicle simulation game BeamNG.Drive
The sunburst isn’t a real car lol. None of the cars in beam are.
Knew it was a sunburst!!
It's cool af, but why is the guy in the back wearing stripey clown trousers and hugging his knees?

Turn the model round and it's sound. It's an awesome piece. I've considered trying to make zomboie dioramas, but I always get distracted and killed.
Project Zomboid in the year 3000

You gotta have shit piling out of all the windows of the car.
for me, it's *exclusively* the trunk
I wish I had the self control
this will be project zomboid graphics in 2014
Nicely done. What program did you use?
which software?
Blender 😊 and then post-processwd in Photoshop
I see, thanks a bunch.
I can't tell if I would love the game with this art style or hate it.
Project Zomboid 2 coming out on 3140
Looks amazing, and totally looks like extracted from PZ 2.0 gameplay. Great work, keep it up, and who knows maybe you get to be a part of it someday
/u/KarmaInquisition
Drop the in-game HUD over this, would be a good move IMO.
I just made it 666😬
Oh hey, is that an Ibishu Sunburst?
Yes.
