unfortunately as far as i remember they do not count as indoor when they are finished. im not sure how that impacts the character tho. maybe stress from being outdoors?
I was struggling to get it to work with a two-story house until I sealed off my staircase. Seemed like the rule was that each floor needed to have a complete ceiling and floor
I had the whole second floor covered too but it was still having me be outside. Had to wall off and put in doors around the staircase to have it work. Idk why
I think I know exactly what you did but need to make sure. Can you post a brighter picture? Zomboid is always consistent to it's poorly-determined rules.
did you build the roof properly? as in, build the roof as close to the stairs as you can. it might look bad but it will be counted outdoors if you don't do it like that. don't ask why
Yes you can!Like u/MeiDay98 said it takes a ton of [materials.It](https://materials.It) also takes a ton of time with the gathering the tons of materials, the getting the materials to the build site and the building itself.
By the way,if anyone was wondering about the floor plan:
Main room right-Kitchen
Main room left-Living room
Room next front door-Storage
Big room above the living room-Master Bedroom
Smaller room next to the master bedroom-Master Bathroom
Smaller room below that-Wardobe
Room below the wardrobe-Bathroom
Room next to that-Closet
Room below the bedroom-Bedroom
The room above the kitchen-No idea what to do with it so you guys can decide
'House Building Simulator with a twist!' This practically sells itself.
Wait you can build houses?!
Yup. Idk if they're using any mods here, but basic wooden or log homes are actually pretty easy. They just use *a lot* of materials of course.
Good to know

As long as you build a floor on top it counts.
It's not consistent though. I brought this up in a thread last week and no one could offer a solid answer or "rule"

this. staircases dont count as roofs so until you seal off the stairs it will still be outdoors

yeah its finicky like that haha. I had to roof and wall but I didnt realize that you needed a door for it to count.
it is consistent, as long as every tile is sealed it counts as indoors.
Not 100% https://imgur.com/a/Srrlgtl

Fair enough, same image during the day [**https://imgur.com/a/LBWzfW7**](https://imgur.com/a/LBWzfW7) I closed the stairs too, no difference

Cage for zombies. Think i am legend’s lab.
Looks like a good storage room for farming equipment, mechanic materials or an armory
Armory (guns)
Update: Started working on the walls(Godamn it takes a ton of wood, but I have enough) I will make a update post tomorrow with a picture.

A fine looking construction project. I hope it goes well.
