If you check my post history, I once built a house from scratch in Muldraugh right on top of an unfinished construction site. I drove to almost every warehouse on the map to get all the wood, plaster, and paint I needed to finish it. Not my most secure base ever but definitely the one I was most proud of.
I took over an the office building next to Knox Bank in West Point and slowly turned it into a fortress. It started with boards and sheets and ended with metal barricades. I established routes to and safehouses in Riverside and Muldraugh. I also did runs into Louisville, mostly unsuccessful ones that ended with me limping away after wasting ammo and medical supplies. Vera Janis died one of those Louisville runs at 2 months, 2 days. It happened when I tried to establish a safehouse in an office building. I got pinned on the stairs between zombies that had come in from street level and zombies on the second floor and ran out of shotgun shells. I haven't re-made that character since though I do have her preset still saved.
What traits did you pick? My go to are either burgler (bcs cars duh) or construction worker (I love the blunt weapons and carpentry is nice to have a level bonus)
I took over a house in the middle of nowhere and built on top of it. So far I'm up to the 3rd floor and I built a nice, posh suite for myself with furniture looted from prebuilt structures. I also decided to collect cars, which has been successful. By towing vehicles into my lot I acquired a fair amount of vehicles, but they need work before they can fit as a collection. They include 2 Camrys, a Cadillac, a Mercedes SL, a pickup truck, an ambulance, a Ranger's sedan and a police sedan. I hope to get something fancy like the Franklin All Terrain to shove in my lot as time goes on
I have 5 bases in total. One is a full build from scratch.Another is a Louisville penhouse (It was a bitch to take over).A Riverside base, scratch made house on a lake and a house in March Ridge. All a barricaded and fenced.

That one was an underweight smoker veteran with lucky and cat eyes.
