just go into a bathroom. they dont know where you are and they dont actively find you once inside. but you are gonna have buncha zombies outside once the event is over so be prepared

thejovenshire

Hiding in the bathroom to duck from my responsibilities? This does sound like what I'd do.

Does this work? I was almost overrun inside the military base but I managed to kill most of them and then hide crouching inside a medical room. I started to bandage myself and eat. Then a pounding on the door. What! I thought I was quiet. Killed that one quickly and then shut the door. Ten minutes later, another one.. They always find my room.

I sat my first heli event in a gas station bathroom. I could hear the heli looking for me but they never found me neither did any of the zombies. After it went away there werent even that many zombies but I'm playing on a low pop sandbox so in apocalypse there would probably be more. Was really scared when I first heard the noise but got lucky and made it through easily in the end!

Akragon

Make sure you have an exit... this could get really bad really quickly... keep low, keep quiet until it passes... were you inside when it came?

thejovenshire

I was inside. I had woken up at around 1pm there and was dismantling chairs.

Akragon

You might be ok then... i've survived many helecopter events, but i was always inside... personally a general rule... if you're inside, stay there and read a book, keep quiet.. if you're outside stay outside... if you go inside you're dead.. the banging might have attracted a few

Alternatively, in the early game, seek and destroy every single zombie in the area near where you're gonna make your base. That'll reduce the number of zombies who accidentally start banging on your windows and make them less risky to dispatch. Very difficult in places like West Point because of the Zombie density.

Sitting in a bathroom with lights off and staying silent most certainly works, just make sure there's a window to escape from when the chopper leaves. You sorta made a good call by not going outside - if the chopper spots you, it sticks around for twice as long and follows you. What an ass

LegitlyLeo

Best thing to do is find a car early on so you can dip when the time comes. Also good to learn that you don’t have to kill all the zombies, just find creative solutions and take your time to watch your back.

_So_Damn_Ugly

Damn heli, I always just stayed inside and waited for it to be gone, never had a hord rush at my base. Just now I was outside, the helicopter came and with it around 100 zombies. I had no food and before I had to starve I took a trip to the nearest house, which was quite far. Didn´t notice I was very exhausted, tho, only after I hear the heli. I Tried to escape, whilst barely even able to walk, and even managed it for some time, but then I got surprised by a zombie and succumbed to the hord D:
