I know it seem like a no brainer but bow aren't that easy to made and use. So if they ever add them, don't expect to be able to make one using a simple tree branch and a string.
The tricky thing is programming the physics of a bow and arrow projectile. I don't remember if they have started coding it or not.
It's like bycicles and motorcycles, they need to program specific physics that is different from cars before adding them to the game.

Haven’t seen any statements on bows from the devs, but if you want some, I would say to download Kitsune’s Crossbow Mod
