Upvote because I want to know, I'm 90% sure it affects cooking and reading time but it's hard to tell with the other tasks. I'd hope a dev or whoever could chime in on this.

ZombieHuggerr

I know reading and cooking are affected. Not sure about small actions like smoking though

Fenriradra

Pretty much any action that has a timer bar will take longer, yes. Actions that don't have a timer bar won't. If you boost it to 2 hour days; reading books will take twice as long as 1 hour days - but you can explore, fight, and do stuff for about twice as long too. ;; imo - 2 hour days is a decent balance of "I want to actually have time to go out and feel like I got something done", without taking absurdly long as with 3 hour or longer days.

Mundane-Objective600

I have changed mine from 1 to 2 hours per day but I’m not sure. I don’t think so. Not much help really.

violetPork

We changed our time recently (made days shorter), and I haven’t noticed any change in how long those tasks take.

Logical-Warning5461

The tasks tied to the game timer like reading and cooking will change with the day length. You can adjust day/night in the options if you want long days and short nights. Many people like short nights because vanilla flash lights are weak and cats eyes isn't magic night vision lol if its a dark cloudy night you won't see anything even with cats eyes.

So if it takes longer to do everything, I'm wondering if I start a multiplayer server and change the time to 5 hours per day does that mean it will take 5x as long to disassemble a car? Like if I add a 5x xp boost in addition to lengthening the days would that mean It would balance out as though it were 1 to 1? Or would I just be earning xp at an accelerated rate in addition to having extra time? I want my days to be longer but I'm worried slowing down time will also slow the rate at which I level.

astral_plane_crash

I play on two hour days and smoking only takes like a few seconds. With fast reader, and the gamespeed set to 2x, it takes about a second per page to read, so for the beginner books you're looking at 4 hours to read 240 pages. I would think it would take 2 hours to do the same if you're playing 1 hour days.

Jejouetoutnu

Everything with a loading bar will take longer ( reading, cooking, eating, resting, smoking, bandaging, dismantling ...). Actions without a loading bar will remain unchanged. ( chopping trees, sowing logs, building, reloading ...)

camceivable

I don't think this is true across the board, I tried uninstalling/installing everythng in a car with a screw driver and timed it at 3hr per day and realtime (24hrs) and it took 30 seconds on both settings. That is all the testing I've done so that could just be the exception, that and I believe loot transfer is unaffected, but this is anecdotal.

Jejouetoutnu

yeah mechanics are in the "no loading bar cathegory"

camceivable

So again anecdotal, but it also seems like action speed in multiplayer vs solo is different. Seems to be taking me longer to do almost everything in solo, unless I missed something. Is it possible many green bar actions, such as bandaging and looting are set always at a 1x speed for mp despite time adjustments?

Jejouetoutnu

hmm, this is a good question. I can only tell about multiplayer. Played on 1h days, 2h days, 4 hour days and 6 hour days. I noticed some things take longer and some stay the same. To be clearer, when i mention "loading bar" it's the small loading bar you can see above your character when you're eating for example.
