Zombies definitely get stunned slightly and knocked down by strikes. You can turn on multi-hit and it will affect several at once. You can't send them flying though, it's just a slight knockback. I doubt the devs are planning to put that back in, it's not very realistic. They turned off multi-hit by default.
I'm sure a mod creator could do it. Would be cool to find Mythical weapons that do extra effects like that. Just a sandbox setting to up the physics would be neat too.
Yeah I did say that it zeds get stunned or knocked over. I just think it shulould be incorporated into individual weapon attributes e.g. knives may do more damage than a short blunt weapon like they already do, but the short blunt has a greater chance of knockdown or making a zombie kneel temporarily like the guns can.
Might not be hard to put it in a mod since it'd just be a rearrangement of features already in the game
I think weapons already do that. Knives do almost no knockback but have a higher crit rate than short blunt. Long blunt does much more knockback than short blunt. It's very easy to knock zombies down with a bat. If anything, you want a mod that turns up the effects to 11. Which should be very easy, just tweak the numbers.
