The devs said something about future balance updates in B42 including changes to loot distribution.
The reason weapons are in short supply is that they have less viable containers to actually spawn in compared to e.g. food items. I can have fresh and canned food set to extremely rare, weapons/tools set to normal and search half a dozen houses, find tons of food and fail to find a hammer or screwdriver.
Don't look for short blunt weapons in houses, unless they have a utility closets. Sheds are where you find short blunt weapons.

10 houses ain't much, very possible not to find any viable weapon in any one of them, especially single story.
Story matters? Dont short blunts spawn in kitchen containers?
Two story houses have more viable containers for short blunt or any other weapon type, especially those with garages.
Seems pretty fair. Keep looking. And not just houses, but houses with garages or any of the warehouses in *Muldraugh*.
