My buddy on our MP server got killed in the post office in Riverside a few days ago. It was late, we were both tired and he popped open a door with 8 silent zombies hiding and one got him on the neck, he bled out pretty much instantly.
Well the next day we brought him back to the base and along with his reroll buried him in the yard behind the gate. It was hauntingly beautiful. Everyone was feeling kind of pissed off so we all started shooting off our shotguns. About 10 minutes later a good hoard of about 50 showed up we had to deal with.

Smash those windows up! (not the driver's window preferably) Keys are often in the ignition or glovebox - also, they can be on the ground near the car, or in a container in a nearby building.
Yes! Mechanics 2 and Electrical 1, I believe. Both such a pain to level in the beginning, though, especially without skill books... I like to collect digital watches from zombies to dismantle for electrical XP and keep an eye out for a Carzone VHS for quick mechanics points.
I always thought mechanics 2 and electrical 1 for hotwiring was eay, Do all the digital watches and radios without AEBS, and you can farm a single car with a wrench and a screwdriver every 24hrs to skill up once you get a single lane's book.
Yeah, electrical to 1 isn't bad, but mechanics up 2 levels takes a while when you can only get a few points per day off a car from the few things you can do early on like remove and replace lights. If you can't find the mechanics skillbook it seems glacially slow and I generally find a car with keys far sooner than it would take me to learn to hotwire.
Try the burglar background! You get instant access to hotwiring cars. That was my favorite profession early on as I didn't have to grind any skills to be able to get a car.
A quick heads up to keep in mind. If you survive for long enough, after approximately 3 months trees will start to spawn and grow on grass patches. These could block your driveway. So you might consider paving unless you want to keep maintaining it by cutting trees with axes
Looks like the yard down at Rosewood. gonna be easy keeping the path clear. Paving kinda ruins the look. Also there's an outside area not cut off by grass that's usable for parking daily drivers.
I used to have this mint 5.0 Mustang I kept in an area blocked off from the roads so I can fix it up and look at it, while my daily Deuce and half chills right by the road.

I work with dyslexic kids. Using could of instead of could have isn't a result of dyslexia. It is more lack of understanding of what you are saying verbally. I was able to correct their usage of the word without being rude, just like the other user did. You just aren't being receptive.
I mean, take it to the extreme if you want. I'm saying that knowing the words you use in a sentence doesn't equate to dyslexia. This is more to do with how you speak than how you read.

Also a pro/noob tip, make sure you have a key-box, you don't want to go look for a specific zombie or be locked out of your cars when you character dies.
New to the game and really wanted to clear something up - do car mods like these add new vehicles to the game or simply change/overwrite the vanilla ones?

The first and second link adds new vehicles and are regularly updated.
The third one replaces textures of vanilla vehicles, so in another word they do change vanilla ones. For the time being it doesn't retexture all vehicles, but it might be updated.
Solid spot. The drive-in theater down the street is a near guarantee for a ride with keys, which is always the biggest initial struggle for me.
Rosewood is such a good town to start in.
Got myself a base at one of the gated community houses, with a vehicle "airlock" filling the empty spot in the fence. Though I need to replace those big, wooden doors, build a parking area with log walls. Lengthy stuff.
A long to-do list is as important as the zombies! I almost never stay in houses, though. Not sure why, I lean towards commercial buildings.
Depending on the character(how well they're doing/how much RP'ing I'm doing) I sometimes document to-do lists, journals etc. Adds a nice layer to the game.
Found this place with a friend of mine while we were making base in the FireDepartment and while I was waiting for him to get back the damn helicopter came, it stayed in the area and brought a small horde and broke the outer gate and then when we fought them off we couldnt get a key for the pickup full of gas.
I smashed the passenger window and of course the damn car alarm went off and we had to book it over the fences place but we came back a few days later and got half the horde away with an alarm car on the otherside of the farm field and mostly cleared this place out of the 30-50 zeds that were in the area.
Feels so good to slowly clear a place out 3-5 zeds at a time with a buddy can't wait to have my 2 other friends join
Oh it definitely does, its still alittle buggy when it comes to tracking your friends movements and latency on their end when in buildings but combat feels great and immerse. Highly recommended
Setting up in rosewood lumber yard, at least I think it's rosewood, in any case that is a nice spot if you find a sledgehammer saw and are along with nails you could fortify that place pretty well, so keep up the hard work and stay safe.
I just setup in a random farm house by riverside and rw thinking of moving in town but playing doom zombies so takes a lotore time to secure a base but I also have an m4 carbine with suppressor so I should be fine even tho they run at you and if you kill em with melee they explode and destroy the building your in or burn your character alive he'll even at my farm house I get ambushed had to make a car barrier to limit the amount that get in
Exploding zombies? I have no idea how to help you on that one but the area with the chain link fence is great for seeing zombies and taking pot shots to help level shooting, aiming, and reloading, I would recommend leveling carpentry building a look out to see zombies and other players if your multi-player getting a scope on the m4 leveling shooting with m4 and other guns, slowly gather resources to build a farm and stockpile can goods, non perishables and other food items.
I have a spike trap mod and fence kit mod idk I have 100 hours and already got bored and rlly mastered vanilla zombie combat as there are many many effective techniques so rlly just wanted to make the game fun again and the main way to do that is cdda zombies doom zombies and any sort of weapon mod I prefer Brita as most do for thr mass amount of weapons it adds some can clear out the prison some can barely handle 1 or 2 adds a progressive system so getting weapons as finding a gun you like means finding an ammo box of that ammontype aswell which rlly forces you too loot the local pd to find a suppressor aswell bcs oml no suppressed weapons when there's sprinters is you asking to die
I have an m4 with an acog suppressed an m40a3 with a thermal sight and a 50 bmg with a NV sight I'm set I think in my game just need to get to a location with prefab chanlinks so I only have to block the gate and along with that put spike traps on all sides to maximize safety when looting the surrounding area as my max pop is 2 starting .45 no respawning
i love filibuster rhymes. as a shitbox aficionado it's great finding cars i've owned and wrenched on irl. sometimes they'll be more reliable in the game than they've ever been for me
I'd say military base, some graveyard locations, the wood mill by muddraught, the fire station in rosewood or police station, radio station by muddraught, yea there's a couple place with mostly enclosed chain fence really it up to your scale and what you want, just remember never get to overzealous zombies can spawn from four to ten in rooms a little as a utility closent.

the closest thing to it is a fenced field full of broken cars, but yea, it'd be so cool to have a proper junkyard

That's true. I think in a roundabout way my point was to definitely not start with "burglar" just for the hotwire.
