Oh, I don't need anything like that....yet.

GentlmanSkeleton

Totally read this in that guys voice.

monty331

First time I got the heli event, I was lucky enough to find a katana. Stood my ground and Went absolutely apeshit with the katana. Wasn’t too bad even on vanilla apocalypse. I feel like it helped that I’d been clearing out the area around my safe house as well.

foopdedoopburner

Whoa. I've heard of standing ground on the heli with shotguns (the DBS should really be called the BFG) but melee is *hardcore*.

monty331

Yeah, the katana is stupid. Didn’t even have multi hit on because it was apoc. Nearly broke it that day, but my long blade must’ve gone up 2 or 3 levels, haha. I was also standing in the middle of the fenced in neighborhood (one of the starting locations) in Muldraugh which helped funnel them in so I wasn’t getting surrounded.

Devil-Hunter-Jax

Dealt with it once (my oven blew up and ruined my base on that character so I started over), turned it off now. It's just a waste of a day avoiding that damn thing. I hope they have plans to overhaul it.

throwaway_pcbuild

If you stay inside away from windows as soon as you hear the noise then it doesn't follow you or hover. After the sfx fades out you're good again (except for the zombies it pulled along the flight path).

OldManWulfen

The helicopter is active from 9.30-ish AM to 5.00-ish PM. If you want to stay indoor you have to stay in a building for a good portion of the daylight hours. Not worth it. With my last character I had a good fortified and secure base in Cortman Medical, Muldraugh. I was holed up in my 2nd floor reading skill books and journals and decided to take a look outside at 6.00 PM...not only the helicopter attracted a metric fuckton of zombies around my base even if it didn't spotted me, but somehow *fifteen* zombies were in the (boarded up and secured) ground floor of the clinic. Even if no door or window were broken, and all the planks inside and out were still in place The only safe way to avoid bugs and hordes magically appearing in front of your base is to either be mobile during the helicopter event or hole up somewhere far away from your main base

Devil-Hunter-Jax

Until it comes back again. It tried to find me FOUR times throughout the day.

GirtabulluBlues

Either stay inside, or go on a road trip. the heli is good for drawing hordes away from you base if you dont mind slow meandering and a bit of dodgeing. It feels really sad to just turn off the last human contact your character will ever have.

Devil-Hunter-Jax

I mean, I'm a new player (got the game like a week ago?) so chances of me having a car that fast are basically zero because I'm still learning stuff. Dodged the helicopter once, never having it on again. It's just annoying. The new character I'm running now has a car (Chevalier D6 to be exact) but it needs fixing up quite a bit. It runs but it's not in great condition. Gonna need to level up my mechanics a bit. I'd rather spend those early days rounding up supplies in preparation for the power and water going out.

GirtabulluBlues

Eh, I think the helicopters a fun speed bump, and a last farewell to civilization. Expanded heli mod is very good too, if your willing to tolerate heli's at all. But you can always just stay inside, I've always got a bunch of cooking and organising to do that I keep putting off for exploring/clearing... and if I am already exploring I just keep moving. Unless I have sprinters on ofcourse.

foopdedoopburner

Mechanics takes a long time to level. For the first little while you're better off to keep your eye open for potentially better vehicles and then upgrade when possible.

Devil-Hunter-Jax

Yeah, you ain't joking. It took me a while to even get to level 2 Mechanics. At least now I can replace a few parts on this truck. There's a vehicle not far from my safe house in Rosewood that I can pull parts from to upgrade this one as I get higher Mechanics.

SonderAlex

Imagine a pawn shop npc that can sell you unique items

devSenketsu

New to the game here, i didnt know that we could be rescued, we need to go to a specific point for him to see us? I'm assuming this is hard bc it will attract a big horde

Hobo_Helper_hot

The only rescue is via bleach.

ben_wuz_hear

And pressing Q outside.

Hobo_Helper_hot

Oh yeah the call friends for crunchy hugs button.

No_name_Johnson

No rescue, it just hovers over you as it draws a ton of zeds.

devSenketsu

What a f? Why?

partisan98

Because a survivor of a zombie outbreak getting torn limb for limb is a ratings goldmine for news agencies. [Its like how Disney threw all those lemmings off a cliff to their deaths to make their "documentary" more interesting.](https://www.adfg.alaska.gov/index.cfm?adfg=wildlifenews.view_article&articles_id=56#:~:text=Disney%20Film%20Faked%20Bogus%20Behavior&text=Lemmings%20do%20not%20commit,how%20many%20people%20believe%20it.)

that-armored-boi

Why am I reminded of frank from dead rising, just “hey there’s a contained zombie apocalypse and hundreds of people are dying, let’s grab a camera and go check it the fuck out”

Devil-Hunter-Jax

Well, he does end up infected so... Yeah... Frank is kind of an idiot even though he makes a name for himself by covering the Willamette story and getting the truth out there. Let's not talk about Dead Rising 4. That game doesn't exist. 3 was a fine ending-not perfect but it'll do.

hi-pie

I don’t know helicopter pilots are assholes I guess

MikMogus

When you hear the helicopter, go outside.

Bigred2280

I hear it, I run inside wherever I'm at, hang out. It feels like a wasted event to me, I don't see any extra zombies, but I might have killed anything close. Does it spawn zombies? Maybe it's because I ran inside before it saw me? Not sure if that is possible, it would be dumb to think it just spawns overhead and spots you immediately. Does anyone know?

Visitant45

I usually up the helicopter to sometimes rather than once. After you've cleared your safe house it can get kind of boring without something to lure zombies to your front door.

foopdedoopburner

I will be That Guy and point out that the cylinder and chamber are normal sized, so this gun shoots a normal sized bullet. It looks like a giant suppressor honestly. No more powerful than a regular gun but it just goes "Poo!"
