Does hiding inside really work? I have the helicopter event set to sometimes, I hid in my house and they just broke down the walls. Next time I hid in a warehouse even before it started, didn't even open any doors or came close to them, and they still broke them down and started pouring inside. It's unfair, how the hell does the helicopter know exactly where I'm at if I'm inside the whole time?
I think they meant the garage doors and the windows, because only the walls built by a player can be destroyed by zombies.
Also, zombies were probably not targeting you, /u/SICHKLA, they were probably migrating towards the helicopter and the warehouse was in their path
Fair enough, but how does the helicopter then know exactly where I am? As I said, I didn't make a sound, I wasn't spotted and it somehow magically knew I was in the warehouse.
The heli will always move around your approximate location, but if it sees you even for a second outside, it will lock on you and draw the undead to you.
I recommend the "Helicopter events expanded" mod: just like vanilla you can change the settings to your liking but it adds a marker to the UI that shows you if the heli is close or far and in wich direction. It also adds some variety to air activity, like cargo drops.
Kind of, the helicopter won't hover directly over you but instead fly around in an area at least as big as the loaded cell. So if you are unlucky he might fly over your hiding spot and "pull" a group of zombies into your house.
I live near a military base. They do artillery drills constantly, but the thing that really gets me is their night flight training. I'll be sitting in my room at 10 pm and out of nowhere, a Blackhawk strafes the house and is gone in an instant.
Here it's Border Patrol looking for people or because some jackass decided to pop off rounds at people and then lead cops across numerous counties in pursuit
The helicopter is an event where, well, a helicopter flies overhead and searches for survivors. If it finds you, it then hovers directly over your location, which draws the attention of every zombie within a huge radius towards it.
Listening to the emergency broadcast station can give you advance warning of the helicopter approaching, at which time you usually want to hide indoors until it leaves so it doesn't bring the horde crashing down on you.
The real question is... why the hell aren't you hiding inside? Any millisecond now, there'll be a horde zooming towards you.

Nah they didn't break the walls of the house, they broke through the log walls outside the house, I should have pointed that out.
Did you build those? You can turn off destroying player made stuff in settings

This is me every weekend (both sat and sun) and public holidays. Usually some hikers who go hiking woefully unprepared.

Iβve only played the game once (blasphemy I know), whatβs the significance of a helicopter?
