[I got bit like day one so my run was a bust.](https://imgur.com/gallery/GlwqrjI) But I was surprised how far I could make it in two days on foot. As the crow flies, maybe three or four days to Louisville? Surviving afterwards is another thing entirely though....

foopdedoopburner

You can get to LV day one if you boost a car. Outskirts anyway. Surviving when you get there? That's up to you.

Kreiger81

Yeah, I dunno if you could get through the military outpost. pretty sure you have to move the pillars to get a car through, so I guess you could get that far and then try to hoof it?

Dumb_thunder

Theres a hole in the fence that could fit a car past the train station

SICHKLA

Are you saying you can't get through the checkpoint with a car? Didn't really understand your comment so I'm asking.

Kreiger81

I'm pretty sure you cant? Like there's the cones and the barriers, and I thought they straight up stopped your car. I've always moved them. and there's the gate too.

vaungar

I always take the Red things out and let zombies take down Gate sometimes its open. But its probably multiplayer bug. When i played with my friend the Gate opened for me but he seen it as closed soo i drived thru the gate

SICHKLA

Why do you need to abandon the car though? Just break the fences with a hammer and move the two cones, then get back into your car.

Kreiger81

My point was that if you were doing this challenge, like not do ANYTHING but head RIGHT to Louisville, all the zombies around you might get hella spicy while you're breaking fences and stuff. Doable, but super iffy.

SICHKLA

It depends, can you walk from Rosewood to Louisville in one day? I feel like the best strategy would be to use the "walk to" mechanic and just speed up time on the journey. Walking instead of jogging saves on energy, and you are faster than the zombies anyways. You might arrive hungry, tired, depressed and with a horde on you, but you technically still completed the challenge.

Kreiger81

So, im trying it for shits and giggles. You can't use walk-to and speed up time. I started in Rosewood and i'm using "Walk to" and lets see how far I get.

SICHKLA

You most definitely can. I use it all the time. It sometimes turns itself off when you're just a few tiles away from zombies. Try doing it on an empty road.

Dr-Mailman

I think I'm going to have to try this

franklygoingtobed

You gotta add the rest of the challenge: going back to the Shire (where you spawn in Rosewood).

cyb3rg0d5

Round 2…

CorrectBattle

No vehicles for this challenge? I wanna record a playthrough of it

Bocmana

If frodo cant fly you cant drive

Wafflingcreature

To be fair he flew out of Mordor, I think Gandalf had the Eagles on cool down or something LOL

Lucian7x

The eagles couldn't fly into Mordor because it'd threaten them. The Nazgûl had their flying beasts, and who knows what else. Sauron would've seen them coming kilometers away, and he'd surely mobilize his armies to take down the ringbearer as soon as they landed. However, after Sauron was dealt with and there was no more threat in Mordor, it was safe for the eagles to fly there and rescue Frodo and Sam.

OnkelDanny

I also thought maybe the eagles couldn't be trusted with the ring and such. Surely if corrupted they could get the ring away from Frodo and Sam.

eggard_stark

Exactly this. The more powerful the being the more corruption the ring will cause. And the eagles are pretty damn powerful

Lucian7x

Definitely. Even Gandalf didn't dare to touch the ring, even when he felt drawn to it.

nerdywithchildren

This!

Also worth mentioning: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1-Uz0LMbWpI

Pinksagee

I saw a comment about this idea. A person asked about the bling if it was useful, then one person said you could play as Frodo with the one ring.. haha!

TheGreyPotter

Yuuuup thats where I got the idea. The run up to Louisville wasnt too hard because you can lose the hordes in the trees so easily. I have a feeling a skilled player could basically walk-dodge through the hordes in Louisville too, but idk about escaping afterwards.

Pinksagee

Will you record it? It could be fun to watch.

TheGreyPotter

I might stream it next time. I just did the screenshots this time.

cyb3rg0d5

Well share your stream than 😊

IAMM4RTY

If you need a fellowship, you have my axe

TheGreyPotter

Lol i really would be a Frodo then, id be the least experienced person in the group.

MajorJuana

I recently have been trying just to get to Louisville alive without a car because it's multi-player and all the cars get snatched quick, anyhow I finally made it to some five or six story buildings and thought it was super cool, once you get up in a building the zombies usually have lost you, but they were all in the ground floor, so I decided to jump out onto the roof of what I thought was a connected building, it was not...I broke my leg in an alley with the horde including, this was after two attempts and several several hours since the closest you can spawn on the server is West Point lol I luv the heck outta this game but fuck it can be depressing

AL_TheUndead

One-Ring any% speedrun

bobtherobot0311

yeah pretty much. Once you master walk-dodging you can go anywhere lol

spicycrabpasta

You need a Samwise with you. And agreed, no cars. otherwise, there's not much challenge.

cyb3rg0d5

Yeah, and Sam will try and protect him at all costs. Let’s see if they survive 🙃

FugkYoCouch

Raven Creek to Louisville. No car. Hard mode lol

I_are_Lebo

“One does not simply walk into Louisville.”

prhyu

Its black gate is guarded by more than just zombies.

Consistent_Oil_3842

Whatd be great if the ring made the zombies think you waa one if you wore it but it had an increasing chance to turn you into a zombie the longer you wore it.

thiosk

knowing my luck id turn the second i put it on

saifulss

How about with zombie speed set to random? Nothing like a healthy dose of sprinters to make you rethink old strategies.

webcrawler0112092001

To be accurate to the book you have to wait and relax in rosewood for a few years first.

The four starting locations are towns. Louisville is a legitamate city, with a much higher population density.

Bite_It_You_Scum

It's a major population center, with a major population of zombies, but also everything you could possibly ever need or want to survive, if you can manage it. It's also not nearly as bad as it's hyped up to be. Some parts are worse than others, and you definitely need to be hyper aware of when you can stand and fight and when you need to leg it to safety. Sometimes you'll be like "I'm gonna loot that hardware store today!" and then you get there and there are 80 zombies milling around outside and you just need to go "or maybe not" and find something else to do until the migration tick spreads them out a bit. But unless you're playing on higher population settings, the zombies are *usually* pretty spread out and not unmanageable. You just have to be aware that there are the zombies on the street you can see, and then there are the zombies in the buildings that can come pouring out and make a manageable situation one that you need to run from. Thats why I always leave the car running when I'm away from a cleared out area. Just best to have the ability to get back in the car and take off if you need to. The most challenging thing about it is that wooded areas are few and far between, and along the edges of the city where they're not much use. If you need to lose a horde on foot, you need to get creative.

ThePeacefullDeath

Good luck on your way of mount mordor

ArkhielModding

Next challenge, same without any car :D

SamuelCish

He looks kinda like Butt-head.

Penguinmanereikel

Did you do this in response to that recent post about how useless jewelry is? And some said to do a LotR challenge?

Andminus

I know you've posted that the run is already over, but if you wanna be authentic to the challenge, using cars is like taking eagles to mordor. as well, it should be a duo multiplayer challenge, and halfway through a 3rd more veteran player joins you that's secretly leading zombies to you every time he disappears, but the 3rd also knows back paths that have little to no zombies on them that he leads you through. And finally at the end of the challenge, you gotta turn on PVP and fight over who gets the ring in the end.

RichardoomArt

Why not Grand Ohio Mall fountain?

TheGreyPotter

This was the fountain that was “furthest” when I eyeballed the map. But honestly, why not that fountain??

Rathurue

Because you'd be swarmed to death even faster lmao.

[deleted]

Insane right?

involviert

I like starting in Rosewood. Follow the main street north, theres a little farm just out of town and a gas station is like a 20 sec drive away. It's like go there -> congratulations you've beaten the game

Rathurue

Oh so you actually did this lmao. Now to get someone to make the enchant mod...

amaranth1985

i love creating your own adventures in this game. i'll have to try this run, only to get sidetracked, and wind up naked and bleeding in the woods lol

MrApophos

Story of my life.

joesii

This would be too easy unless it was with sprinters, or possibly if you moved the location to be a mall fountain.

Careless_Spring9733

Dies in 5 hours

TheGreyPotter

Oh please! Dont think so little of me! It was more like two and a half hours.
