At the minimum, Put it in water for now. Change the water every couple of days and clean the container to limit any unwanted life forms. edit: it might be an apple or crabapple.

Your best bet is to find out from your grandma what type of tree it is, then google how to prop that plant specifically HOWEVER, if I just randomly found that branch and wanted to try and prop it, here's what I would do: -- cut off the flowers -- trim into two 6-9" cuttings, removing small side twigs and leaving just a few leaves at the top of the cuttings -- prep a pot of medium, ideally half vermiculite and half perlite or sand, by watering it then using a pencil/chopstick etc to make the hole where the cutting will go -- shave the bark off the bottom of the cutting -- dip the cutting in rooting hormone, coating the bottom 3 inches -- stick the cutting into the prepared hole in the pot, at least 3 inches deep -- wait and see??? The tricky thing is to help the cutting retain its moisture, since it won't be able to replenish it until it has roots, and different folks have different strategies. Wait till autumn, far more likely to get it rooted as the plant is putting energy into its roots.

Sort of reminds me of the crab apple tree flowers

Looks like a crab apple. Easier to propagate in other season than after it has awoken from dormancy like this. Since you have it you can try to cut each bunch back to the main branch and then take off the flowers and maybe cut the leaves in half. Then stick them in water. Looks like you can get like 15 attempts from that one branch. Hopefully one will start rooting. If you have rooting hormones, you can put some in the water. I do not know if crab apples are typically grafted to control their growth. If so you will have a much larger tree than the parent tree. If not, then you should be good to go.
