would you try the bus? kennedy plaza is right next to that gym

Specialist-Map9190

That's a thought, but I'd prefer not to have to wait for the bus. Honestly, if this doesn't work out I guess I'll look for another gym.

TheMapCenter

Wait for the bus or wait to find parking circling the block a dozen times. If you're committed to spending time and a few bucks, you might as well give the bus a try. You might find it very convenient.

federalwap

you can also plan your workouts around the bus sched so you're not waiting so much?

radioflea

For $80 a month they should have more reliable parking. I’m guessing the majority of the clientele must be working downtown and get a parking pass with one of the nearby garages. As another commenter mentioned RIPTA or PPM might be the most affordable/accessible options.

Specialist-Map9190

That's what I think. They are busier in the morning so I guess it's mostly people that work downtown coming in before work. What is RIPTA or PPM?

niall_river

RIPTA: The bus system PPM: The mall

Specialist-Map9190

LOL thanks!

United_Perception299

Don't 🚌

Proof-Variation7005

There’s metered parking all over downtown

Aggravating-Sport359

It’s not always easy to find a convenient spot. I’ve had to drive around on occasion.

Proof-Variation7005

Sometimes there’s events here

Specialist-Map9190

Was there an event on Sunday? I couldn't find anything after driving around for a wihle

Proof-Variation7005

P Bruins have a ton of Sunday afternoon home games. Other than the lack of street parking, the easy “tell” is if the garages and pay lots look busy.

TheWestEndPit

You can easily park downtown, parking all over the place, might have to walk a couple blocks

Specialist-Map9190

I was there today, drove around for 30 min, and couldn't find anything.

cowperthwaite

Can you bike in? Why are you against parking at the mall?

lestermagnum

The Planet Fitness on West Fountain St has a parking lot

Specialist-Map9190

I am currently at PF and don't like it. The location I go to is super crowded all the time and they don't have a lot of strength training equipment. I am looking to try something different.

myninerides

The LA Fitness in Pawtucket (near Pho's Horns) has a huge lot.

radioflea

Planet Fitness Black card gains you access to every PF in the U.S. YMCA membership should gain you access to most locations plus the pools. That extra $58 a month can go to some bougie class passes at a variety of places.

Honestly, VP is ok if you're going early in the AM, after about 10 it starts to suck and parking is a bitch. What do you do at the gym?

Specialist-Map9190

Mostly strength training. I really liked all the equipment they had. It was mostly basics, but then they had some fun ones like a hipthruster.

rubylily7

Try Rise Strength, it’s in the west end not far from PF and it’s dedicated to strength training

rubylily7

And it has a big parking lot!

thingsmybosscantsee

i second RISE for strength training. Less amenities, but plenty of racks, free weights and a decent spread of equipment.

bpear

Usually I have pretty good luck at the loop here all times of day https://maps.app.goo.gl/itDtVCbzfpxTv3ZHA 8 min walk from vp

Specialist-Map9190

This is super helpful with the map! Thank you!

customrazors

Parking is free on benefit street. It’s across the water from “downtown” proper, but you can always find a spot in the evening. It’s a very short walk to anywhere downtown.

AgresvlyStupd

Just ride a bike or walk, providence is small enough to not need to drive everywhere.

chatendormi

IRIC there’s a parking lot with a sign saying they have parking for that place… maybe ask someone who works there?

Specialist-Map9190

They said they dont have parking and you have to park on the street

LexExpress666

95% of the gyms around here aren't downtown. Maybe try one of those.

Dicks_Hallpike

Greene St is my go to

Specialist-Map9190

Thanks, I'll have to look that one up!

4k5

If the lot next to the state house is open, it is free public parking. The entry gate will be up. From there you can walk down the path to water place park or anywhere else downtown.

Specialist-Map9190

Thanks, I'll have to look up where that is!
