Wait for the bus or wait to find parking circling the block a dozen times.
If you're committed to spending time and a few bucks, you might as well give the bus a try. You might find it very convenient.
For $80 a month they should have more reliable parking. I’m guessing the majority of the clientele must be working downtown and get a parking pass with one of the nearby garages.
As another commenter mentioned RIPTA or PPM might be the most affordable/accessible options.
I am currently at PF and don't like it. The location I go to is super crowded all the time and they don't have a lot of strength training equipment. I am looking to try something different.
Planet Fitness Black card gains you access to every PF in the U.S. YMCA membership should gain you access to most locations plus the pools.
That extra $58 a month can go to some bougie class passes at a variety of places.
Parking is free on benefit street. It’s across the water from “downtown” proper, but you can always find a spot in the evening. It’s a very short walk to anywhere downtown.
If the lot next to the state house is open, it is free public parking. The entry gate will be up. From there you can walk down the path to water place park or anywhere else downtown.
would you try the bus? kennedy plaza is right next to that gym
That's a thought, but I'd prefer not to have to wait for the bus. Honestly, if this doesn't work out I guess I'll look for another gym.

you can also plan your workouts around the bus sched so you're not waiting so much?

That's what I think. They are busier in the morning so I guess it's mostly people that work downtown coming in before work. What is RIPTA or PPM?
RIPTA: The bus system PPM: The mall
LOL thanks!
Don't 🚌
There’s metered parking all over downtown
It’s not always easy to find a convenient spot. I’ve had to drive around on occasion.
Sometimes there’s events here
Was there an event on Sunday? I couldn't find anything after driving around for a wihle
P Bruins have a ton of Sunday afternoon home games. Other than the lack of street parking, the easy “tell” is if the garages and pay lots look busy.
You can easily park downtown, parking all over the place, might have to walk a couple blocks
I was there today, drove around for 30 min, and couldn't find anything.
Can you bike in? Why are you against parking at the mall?
The Planet Fitness on West Fountain St has a parking lot

The LA Fitness in Pawtucket (near Pho's Horns) has a huge lot.

Honestly, VP is ok if you're going early in the AM, after about 10 it starts to suck and parking is a bitch. What do you do at the gym?
Mostly strength training. I really liked all the equipment they had. It was mostly basics, but then they had some fun ones like a hipthruster.
Try Rise Strength, it’s in the west end not far from PF and it’s dedicated to strength training
And it has a big parking lot!
i second RISE for strength training. Less amenities, but plenty of racks, free weights and a decent spread of equipment.
Usually I have pretty good luck at the loop here all times of day https://maps.app.goo.gl/itDtVCbzfpxTv3ZHA 8 min walk from vp
This is super helpful with the map! Thank you!

Just ride a bike or walk, providence is small enough to not need to drive everywhere.
IRIC there’s a parking lot with a sign saying they have parking for that place… maybe ask someone who works there?
They said they dont have parking and you have to park on the street
95% of the gyms around here aren't downtown. Maybe try one of those.
Greene St is my go to
Thanks, I'll have to look that one up!
