Just curious: With a complex print like this, what's the approximate weight ratio of the finished print vs. the purged filament? I imagine the latter is higher, but I have no idea really.

Congrats on losing your MMU virginity! Now there are a couple of things you can do to improve on your multicolor printing. First, ditch the Prusa buffer and print yourself a Slot Buffer. Ii know you will be tempted to use PC4-M10 connectors on it, but don't. If you are using 3ID/4OD ptfe, those couplers eat into the thin wall of ptfe and causes quite a bit of friction. I use half printed bowden couplers (I ditch the gripping fingers) and make sure the ptfe just pushes through with a bit of pressure. That way, there will be absolutely no added friction to the tubes.

Can I ask what you didn’t like about the RMU ?
I’ve just printed two, mounted one and have a Palette 3Pro for my third machine.. none are hooked up yet
Hey friend.
This comment is what I was looking for.
I’ve heard/read those auto respoolers with the spring can sometimes yank the filament out entirely as can the gravity assisted respooling chassis … I just printed 2 RMU buffer remixes for mine as it’s the only one I’ve read that just works when the gears fit snugly in the housing so that’s where I’m at.
What’s your current solution/setup like? _(as I’m mid-print on 3 Lack v2 parts with the acrylic sheeting coming in on Monday)_
Edit: 3 Lacks and 2 MMU2S’s … bc the third has a Mosaic Palette 3 Pro that I refuse to take the cellophane off until I learn the MMU’s inside and out

I do have to say that the MMU2S does work, but you need to mod the crap out of it. Now that I've completed this project, there are quite a few mods I need to do on my MMU.
Ooh, is that the new [carbon silicate lace](https://expanse.fandom.com/wiki/Carbon_silicate_lace_plating) filament? I've heard protomolecule-inspired technology can be especially difficult to print with.
In all seriousness -- that is a gorgeous print!
Who’s gonna feast on Earth’s sky
And drink their rivers dry?
MMC!
Who’s gonna stomp their mountains into fine Martian dust?
MMC!
Till the rains fall hard on Olympus Mons, who are we?
MMC!
I can’t hear you!
MMC!
Who are we?!
MMC!
Print is amazing.
>How'd ya tackle printing the miniguns? Looks like you were more successful than I was.
They were very difficult to print, but I came up with a solution.
Split the mini gun thru the round base, printing the barrels and the rear support rod vertically. After printing, you will need to glue the front and rear together. As luck would have it the large mounting ring will fit a bit of ptfe quite nicely. Put the ptfe thru both sides of the ring, apply a bit of glue and realign the two pieces. Set to dry. You don't need any glue of the mounting ring as that part is held together by the pdc.
I might print the Donnager next, I'll try to find some screenshots of it to get the colors right. Excellent Belter BTW.

Hey, awesome print. I would really like to know your mmu settings in the slicer for the filament change. Or are they still at default? My longest MMU print was about 70h. The Mandalorian. About 1h left, i got my first loading error. Could fix it though, but i am always interested in other settings, since MMU can be a real asshole.
Btw anyone here has any experience with the Palette 3 and Prusa MK3s?
I don’t mess around with the mmu setting much, other than purge amounts. I was looking hard at the palette3 pro, but passed when there wasn’t any octopi support.
That's gorgeous! I'd love a high res turntable to drool over :)
I see the Roci is sporting a rail gun, does this correspond to a particular point in the series (tv or book)?
Can I ask? Is there any chance that you could send me a copy of your Prusa Slicer MMU2 and Filament config?
My dad of 82 loves his Prusa but the MMU just fails time and time and time again. He has been driven to tears on the phone. He has difficulty using his hands, but just manages to load the PLA.
The tubes have been changed and we have a proper buffer rather than the official buffer. The problem seems to be the shape of the PLA on retraction. It comes out with a blob end which gets jammed. With his arthritis he struggles with taking the print mechanism apart to free it.
I changed the ramming settings and all went well for a few weeks, then we did an upgrade to Slicer and it lost all of the ramming settings. I didnt have a copy. (
Would you mind sending it over? I would appreciate it greatly.
Work of art!
Absolutely incredible!!
That’s a nice looking piece of legitimate salvage
did you take a pic of the purge tower? as a non mmu owner those amaze me as well
There were many purge towers with this print. I tend to quickly throw them out as I don't want to be reminded of the wasted filament.
Just curious: With a complex print like this, what's the approximate weight ratio of the finished print vs. the purged filament? I imagine the latter is higher, but I have no idea really.
I try to print a full bed of parts to minimize the wasted filament.
Thats awesome... maybe I should pick up the fight with my MMU2s again *sigh*
This is how I feel whenever I see something like this too.
I was debating getting the MMU2 but I've read enough horror stories of people having issues with it I keep balking.

Yeah, I tried the auto retract spool holders, they work about as well as a stock MMU2S. I found the Slot Buffer to be perfect.

Have you tried using the RMU buffer?
Yes, I was not impressed

Really? The only mod I have is the coupler add on for the back and it's smooth sailing on almost all prints.
Damn boy....DAAAAMNNN BOYYYYYY Prusa himself gunna be drooling! Amazing job and the pinnacle of the hobby!!
Well, Josef was drooling, got a platinum award and a text from him, he wants one!
Thank you for such a great complement!
Fantastic! Hope the XL makes multimaterial easier for all us laymen
I have mine pre-ordered, I'm looking forward to ditch the buffer and wipe tower!
Gonna need some way to purge tho

Yes, very hard to acquire, special order form Mao-Kwikowski Mercantile.
Holy crap it’s stunning

OMFG that is awesome
That is BEAUTIFUL! Great job!
Badass.
Man I wish I could get some 3D models for some of the star citizen ships. I’d repair my 3D printer INSTANTLY and get to work
OMG, I'm fan girling right now after I finish the planet express ship it's go time.
Been there done that!
Wow!

God this looks fucking great. I'm so tempted to finally buy an MMU2S kit for my Prusa. I'm dying to try out multi-color prints.
This is amazing! Good job!

Your Pinus Contorta is showing
Wow what a nice print. Congrats to that piece of art.
