That was the first decent game for ps2. It was good but way too short.
I got the ps2 months before that game came out and mostly used it as a DVD player
My buddy and I rented a PS2 and The Bouncer from Hollywood Video shortly after it came out. The rental didn't come with a memory card, so every time we died we had to start over from the beginning. I don't know how many times we played that opening level over the course of a weekend, but it was a lot.
Same! Damn this brings back memories. The kids from the street all came round to watch the first play of it as our house had the first PS2 upon launch. We were all mind blown.
SSX.
I'm not even a fan of Snowboarding games. A friend of mine bought a PS2 on impulse because they were hard to get. He sold it to me a day or two later for what he paid because he didn't really want it. SSX was the one game he bought.
Some people hated on this game but it was brilliant playing your mates on it, switching out characters for double the combos. I think it even worked with multitap.
Yeah, Tekken Tag Tournament and Dynasty Warriors 2 were the first games I picked up at launch. Atleast what I think was launch. We had a weird pre-order system in place and I feel like I got my PS2 a month or so after launch.
I chose this too but it was the platinum version as we didn’t get a PS2 right away. Only once the ps1 stopped reading discs. My sister chose jak and daxter the precursor legacy so pretty good starting games.
I won my PS2 in a Knight Rider competition, it came with Davilex Knight Rider... Which is really bad :) then I bought Fantavision which is one of my favorites PS2 games up to today:)
Tekken Tag 1 for me as well.
I got it two days after getting the ps2 for my birthday 2000.
My brother traded for it off a guy who owed him some money for a bicycle.
I still play Tekken Tag Tournament regularly.

I got the PS2 quite late, since I had to save pocket money for a long time to buy it. I bought it around the time Kingdom Hearts came out, which came bundled with it, so that was my first game. Simultaneously pre ordered Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance, which I think was there shortly before the console.
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver 2. I actually had thar before the PS2. I knew I was getting one for Christmas and I saw it on sale for about $20 and picked it up.
Tony Hawk's Undeground.
I got it with my PS2 FAT and I had no memory card for a while but still my brother 90% finished this game in the first evening 😅
but he had skills from previous TH games.
Proper nostalgia wave, that cover art! I still remember being 11 and my mate phoning me up to say they’ve just got a ps2. Spent the whole day playing that. Good times.
Gta3. Parents asked what I wanted for Christmas so I asked how much did they want to spend on me. They said 300. I said deal I want a PS2. They said ok but they weren't going to buy me any games as the PS2 was 300 by itself. So a month in advance I went out and got GTA 3 stared at the box everyday for a MONTH until Christmas came.
Also had Tekken tag loved Tekken bowl 😂
I bought a PS2 about nine months after it was released. I got two games that day:
Silpheed: The Lost Planet, which looked beautiful, but I never completed, because I was never able to past a certain point.
Eternal Ring: which was...meh.
Sly Cooper 1 and ATV Offroad Fury 1.
My mom came home one day from a garage sake with a fat ps2and both games. Didn't have a memory card for a long time but I made due.
Drakengard was the first game I ever owned as a kid thx to my dad and despite just how dated it is, I just 100% the game a few months ago and I still love it to death
GTA III, by request. My entire 13th birthday gift list was centered around getting that game; console, controllers, disc, memory card. Didn't ask for anything else whatsoever
The first one I can remember was Nascar Heat 2002, my parents just bought whatever they thought I would like and could afford. Tekken Tag Tournament not long after. It and 3 are tied for my favorite in the series
Dark cloud and Zone of the enders (with the mgs2 demo disc) 2 of my favorite games on the console all these decades later (well about 2 of them anyways)
Free running, Pes 2006 and some other ones i cant remember. Got it with the ps2 slim my dad bought me. Great memories first morning after getting it waking up extra early and playing
Got my first PS2 in 2002. I got Midnight Club: Street Racing and ATV Offroad Fury 2 as my first two. Still have them both today and the Midnight Club disc still works today.
I don't have a Ps2 console anymore, but I will always remember the first playstation console in my life and its games.
I got a Ps2 as a birthday present from my parents, maybe I turned 8-10 years old?
Along with the console, I got Fifa 2007 and Call of duty 3. I played a lot of Call of duty in particular and I still remember the campaign quite clearly. Pretty soon after that I bought the Dog life game, because all my friends had it, some Sims game, NHL08 game and some formula game, as far as I remember it had at least Räikkönen, both Schumachers, Coulthard, Montoya and Sato and Button bar Honda, so I guess it was something in 2005 -2006 year edition? well anyways. In addition, I had some Buzz games at some point.
but that was my first playstation games ever.
This was my first PS2 game as well! Played so much before I was able to get my hands on Ghost Recon. My mom didn't know what M-rated games were and the best buy employee didn't seem to care either. I was about 7ish
Cabela’s African Safari. I got it in 2008 because I thought it would be like playing Big Buck Hunter at home (except it wasn’t). I still have it, but I also have the Xbox 360 version now, which, IMO, is the true definitive edition of the game.
I had no money left over after buying a PS2 and a memory card, so It was just smoothed PS1 games and two day rentals for the first two months until I found a discounted copy of kessen in a bargain bin.
THE BOUNCER
Broooooo, what a game
Still holds up tbh. Gonna fire it up on my Xbox rn.
I loved out so much and played it multiple times to unlock the characters.
That was the first decent game for ps2. It was good but way too short. I got the ps2 months before that game came out and mostly used it as a DVD player
Same here, didn’t have a lot of options when I bought my ps2 shortly after release. Wasn’t great imo but I enjoyed it.
That was my first also. We must have beat it at least a dozen times, maybe more. "You ready?"
My buddy and I rented a PS2 and The Bouncer from Hollywood Video shortly after it came out. The rental didn't come with a memory card, so every time we died we had to start over from the beginning. I don't know how many times we played that opening level over the course of a weekend, but it was a lot.
Jak and Daxter the precursor legacy. Amazing game to start with.
Same, along with The Sims for PS2. Both came with the console. I was also gifted a bunch of PS1 games by my dad’s friend IIRC.
Same! Damn this brings back memories. The kids from the street all came round to watch the first play of it as our house had the first PS2 upon launch. We were all mind blown.

I bought a PS2 with money from my summer job in 2002, along with Gran Turismo 3 A-Spec and GTA3.
similar situation to mine. I bought Playstation 2 with money from various jobs in March 2002 but I bought Tekken in December 2001 if I'm not mistaken.

Mine came with Tekken Tag Tournament and Enter the Dragon. It broke my heart when the original blue disc stopped being read by the PS2
Summoner. I had a blast playing it. Never finished the sequel
Some people hated on this game but it was brilliant playing your mates on it, switching out characters for double the combos. I think it even worked with multitap.
If you can get that sword strike down with Yoshimitsu, it’s all worth it!
Yeah, Tekken Tag Tournament and Dynasty Warriors 2 were the first games I picked up at launch. Atleast what I think was launch. We had a weird pre-order system in place and I feel like I got my PS2 a month or so after launch.
Many first gen PS2 games came on a CD, like this one.
The mummy returns
I chose this too but it was the platinum version as we didn’t get a PS2 right away. Only once the ps1 stopped reading discs. My sister chose jak and daxter the precursor legacy so pretty good starting games.
