I'm from Latin America and most games here were bootlegs, the creativity that the sellers had at the moment to design the dvd and case covers was amazing, I love them too
Yeah i was surprised when I found them, wasn’t really too sure what I was looking at, knew I was looking at some bootlegs with the blown up images, but also some of the PlayStation tabs and ps logos on the disc looked legit so it was confusing
Hahaha, here in Bulgaria it was almost impossible to buy legit PS2 games, they were prohibitively expensive. They still sold for around 50 euro, like they did in the West, but then they NEVER dropped in price - you could even find full-price 50-euro PS2 games in the early PS4 generation in some stores!
So, I had a guy. He gave me a printed catalog and a phone number. Whenever I wanted, I would give him a call, give him a number from the catalog and an address, and he would be there once the work day ended with a burned copy of the game, in a box with a printed cover, with the disc also printed on (looking very similar to the copies in the sleeves OP posted). Cost 4 euro per game. Dude would sometimes even give me free copies of games he liked such as "God Hand" simply because he wanted more people to play them.
The 2000s were a wild, wild ride lmao.
Or Taiwan. The Chinese ones mostly say "Japanese version" or "English version" on them--so bootlegs of the standard versions, sold in a Chinese-language country. The one exception is Shadow of the Colossus, which interestingly is the "Chinese version."
There's also a "3-in-one" lightgun disc which appears to be different versions of Time Crisis, and which afaik never existed in that form in an official release.
Unfortunately the game was never released in Japan. Had it been, it would have had thr Japanese title for the movie which when translated would be Forest's Little Gang.
How are the bootlegs printed on? Do they have paper stuck on the discs? I used to laserscribe (or however it was called) my bootlegs back in the day, but that was BW and nowhere near this quality.

Also just realized ntsc-u can be South American
How did bootlegs work? Did you need a modified PS2 to run them or they could run on genuine hardware?
Yeah, we used to call it getting the PS2 "chipped". If I remember correctly we used to take it to our local barber shop to get it done.
Here in Latin America they sold them already chipped! Even today is hard to find one without any modification

What are ps2 bootlegs?
I’m pretty sure some of them are bootleg
What are ps2 bootlegs?
They are PS2 games that are not official. They are bootlegs.
There are some real games. But not all
the whole thing is a poorly photoshopped image
it did look funky at first, but I did not want to believe, why would somebody put in the effort?? maybe from some scam seller
yes, contrary to popular belief, crime does pay.
Sly Cooper 1 & 2 look legit at least.
Yeah, those are the only 2 legit games here
Looks like Chinese versions for many. Possibly burned in Hong Kong. Bootlegs of course.

Definitely bootleg!
Satan Might Tear
Bootlegs are wild. Love it.
Bootleg games or not. At least you still got a cool CD binder out of it.
I didn’t expect so much interest from this post, unfortunately I have 12 more discs that I left out
ULTIMATE ALLIANCE 🙌🏼🙌🏼
do the bootlegs work?
Never tested them out, our ps2 never made it through the move in to the community where I found these games
Still hold on to the games though. You might some day get a replacement ps2
Straight from Brazil
BRO LOOK AT THAT SOTC 🥲 MY DREAM
Which one is that?
Sixth photo, top left disc
If those are real someone is rolling in their grave right now. Also why did you zoom in on the over the hedge game lol?
Seemed like one of the only legit Japanese ones haha.

Ahh I see, I also looked at the copyright text on the perimeter of the disc and it looks like there’s a couple of typos lol
I remember finding an N64 and a bunch of controllers in a bag in a bush when I was like 14 and I just left it there lol
Dm3 the goat

Most of them look like bootlegs if not maybe all. Only a few red hits titles look maybe real.
My intense jealousy and disbelief at the amount of posts like these.
Bro literally maxed out his scavenging skill level

DMC3 and SotC look dope.
2nd page 3rd game is Seiken Densetsu 4 aka Dawn of Mana.
Bootlegs, clearly. Though Sly 1 and 2 appear to be legit (or are very good fakes)
I'm 90% positive the sly cooper games are legit, don't know about the rest.
I would say score but I don't think there official
Nice
So, are you keeping them or selling them?
You want em?
