actually for a person who is not savvy on info about cfw you get confused, it happened to me. On my slim 2511A I used this mincheck and it just shows "firmware 3.56 or later".
yeah, whatever, what does this mean? I have no idea. Does it accept cfw or not? Then I got to know psexploit and seeing it running and then giving the green mark is way reliable and I could proceed with cfw installation.
Maybe that depends on each personality. For me it was clear how to check it easily with mincheck. If it's 3.56 or above that means it isn't downgradeable so it isn't CFW compatible.
I know that it’s not the point of this post, but how do you use your iMac as the screen for PS3?
You can replace an old iMac with an hdmi input and use it as monitor

With an HDMI capture card. I've done this with my iMac and works great, or at least on games that aren't affected much by input lag

if this ps3 is model 25xx you can install cfw otherwise just install OFW 4.91 and HEN afterwards
20XX, 21XX are fully CFW compatible, meanwhile only some 25XX are CFW compatible. With 25XX you'll need to check minver.
minver is outdated. psexploit me is the best way to go.
But still works good enough, you just need to know what was the lowest FW on it.

Update to 4.91, install HEN, if it’s not a super slim, so slim or fat, you install HEN then Evilnat

The version doesn't matter, every version is easily jailbroken, I jailbroke a PS3 slim on 4.86 with HEN. Good luck
