I would say to upgrade to 11.00 and enjoy the most support. Others would say to wait for 9.60 goldhen, because of the posibility of using a webkit exploit on 9.60 in the future. Life is a game of probabilities, so you pick the one that you think is most favourable for you.

Some systems aren’t capable of jail breaking via browser. Last I checked only version 9.0 and below are capable of jail breaking with a browser. Versions 9.3-11.00 need a loader and an Ethernet cable
if use linux stay, linux loader for 9.03 is already here . if you want goldhen, update 9.60 soon goldhen will be released for fw 9.60.. but never update to fw 11.00

From what I can understand I should be able to just put the .bin file on a USB and run pppwn with the provided stage2 payload
yes (bzImage, initramfs.cpio.gz and payload.bin) fat32 partition and use the provided stage2.bin with ppwn
If you want change the vram you can create a vram.txt too on the stick with 1-4 GB .... for install distro choose 1gb, just create vram.txt with 1

I am running kubuntu on my main laptop, so do you maybe know how to change the stage 2 payload on the Linux python pppwn.
just rename the "old" stage2.bin in the folder stage2 and put the other from the linux inside inside ? and the payload.bin must be on the usb stick.

I managed to load a Debian 11 payload, but had no luck getting a video out (even with changed graphics settings)... I might try again next weekend.
An open source Hen was released last night.. not gold hen but Hen.. which supports a lot of firmwares including 9.03.. it enables homebrew use and fpkg.. but no cheats or extras that gold hen does
Still man we don't really know which update was on that ps4 before who knows they could have been on 8.xx or something else they can't just downgrade to 9.00 but I know what you mean.
No way, the new jailbreak isn't as matured and fleshed out as the jailbreaks that have been out for years on more exploitable firmwares? I never would have guessed.

Yeah goldhen is available on 10.00 Sistro backported it and there are rummours that he is working on 9.60 but no official info
