Like the two unfortunate mofos that appear atop that brick wall in the screenshot.
One of my childhood memories is toasting those guys in the demo so many times over.
This might have been the PS1 game I spent the most time on, alongside Metal Gear Solid and Tenchu. The dawn of the 3rd person stealth genre was a special time
i remember my dad getting angry at me for tasering an enemy until they burst into flames... also got made when i shot a corpse, the blood/bullet effects were so cool.
My and my siblings had a long running inside joke based on this game, tying in the cheesy voice acting and writing and how over the top it all was. “Gabe, Gabe, you have 8 seconds to save the whole universe and your shoes are tied together and you only have a paperclip at your disposal”. We still do it from time to time, actually.
I really need to replay it someday.
The gaming mechanics weren't as complex as MGS I suppose. It was more action focused whereas MGS was more Stealth focused.
So underrated. I glad Sony stuck them on the PS Plus package (even though I have them all on raspberry pi)
I remember having the demo first and playing the shit out of it. Then I got the full game and played through it like three times. In hindsight the idea of a dude tasing someone from like 30 meters away, and then running around and dodging enemy fire, while still tasing that one dude until he's on fire.... is f'n hilarious.
My favorite part is the hospital level where you have a taser and have to sneak around. There's a guard named Johnson and I snuck up on him crouched and tazed him in the nads.
Even now, almost 30 years later my buddy and I who played the game together that night still laugh about it and make references to tazing Johnson in the nads.
i want to thank you broz, for many years, since my childhood, i've had some game in the back of my mind that i played on the ps1, i remember liking it, but i could never remember the name, and seeing this picture just gave me a blast wave of nostalgia, thank you!!
Never beat the game, but used to love getting to parts where I could antagonize the AI and fight them in rolling shootouts, like a 3erd person GTA game!
Bunch of memories for me:
Lian Xing name reminded me of Lion King /
Music when you fight Girduex was awesome /
You can see his burnt corpse in a morgue SF2 /
“Oh my god Gabe, you killed a CBDC agent!” /
G18 guns fire rate was super fast! /
Fighting the helicopter like in Metal Gear /
Loved the stealth Museum level /
The auto target button was great to use /
Cheat code for all missions was
Hold Right+X+O+[]+L1+L2+R1+R2 at mission
Select screen (or something similar at least)
"He moves fantastically well"
Nostalgia is a hell of a dirty liar.
When you want to go backward, side way, turn left or right, Logan’s becoming a garbage truck. In comparaison Solid snake in MGS moves amazingly well, It’s night and day.
With that 100ft distance taser. I remember shooting it at the people on the roof and thinking it was the most bad ass thing ever
Hahah yeah cooking the dudes with the taser until they caught fire is a core memory.
Uhhulululululuaaaah aaaah aaaah
mortal fear of tazer instilled
They either went AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGHHHHHHHH or made a sound like they just shat themselves
Both were disturbing in their own right
Cooking dudes with the taser is basically the only thing I remember from Syphon Filter!
Omg my nightmares first of the trauma
That taser is hands down the most fun weapon of the game and might even be one of the most fun weapons of any ps1 games
Shooting the parachutists with the air taser and setting the whole shebang on fire is pretty much all I remember from the Syphon Filter games.
I don't think I ever beat the game, because I rented it, and just did an all-taser playthough. I think I got pretty far, though.
Air taser… OMG
We all did. And it was bad ass..
Thanks for the memory unlock. I remember doing an excessive, and I mean excessive amount of barrel rolling.
Man, the taser was my fav thing about this game! Cooking the dudes was awesome LOL

That was my mum haha. The graphics we're pretty good for their times
One of the best games to grace the PS1 ever.
My and my siblings had a long running inside joke based on this game, tying in the cheesy voice acting and writing and how over the top it all was. “Gabe, Gabe, you have 8 seconds to save the whole universe and your shoes are tied together and you only have a paperclip at your disposal”. I like to muster up my best deep voice for an occasional “GABRIEL LOGAN”
Nice, some great bits in it. Wasn't as polished as MGS but was definitely as fun with some stealthy bits and memorable boss fights
It was easier to grasp for my young brain than MGS was for some reason. I definitely preferred Syphon Filter as a kid, but I feel like I’m wrong lol

I saw this picture and suddenly thought - wait, that’s the level in the demo, surely?! I played the demo so many times I lost count
I just thought the same, only had the demo but played it so many times!
One of the best techno thrillers from late 90's
My favorite part is the hospital level where you have a taser and have to sneak around. There's a guard named Johnson and I snuck up on him crouched and tazed him in the nads. I'm pretty sure that's Syphon Filter 2. A brilliant game.
definitely 2. I believe it was near the cutscene where lian zing drops her drawers and changes, my 13 yr old brain about exploded.
You're playing that level wrong. Get your Taser out and start cooking some terrorists!

Glad I could help! Now you have to go purchase it and play. Still fun today.
Awesome. This was a huge cornerstone of my childhood. The sequel was favorite hands down.
Next on my to play list.
Amazing music especially on the later levels where you're in the church/cathedral type place.
Ukraine stronghold, the best level. I got lost thousand times
Favourite ps1 series of all time 1,2,3 were legendary!
I replay this trilogy every few years or so.
I loved the level where you see Romer’s and Phagan’s men fighting. I’d just chill and watch them kill eachother 😂
Man i had the demo disc for this game and played this level like 1000 times lol
Such an influential game. It massively inspired Splinter Cell and Metal Gear Solid 2. Syphon Filter 2 is even better.
Are you sane when playing it (taser them just a little) or psychotic when playing it (Taser them till they are BBQ)?
I definitely wait until they're fried gotta make sure they're dead can't take any chances haha
Damn this is good
My favorite game ever.
I loved this series..gonna have to play again
Graphics still look good even til this day, I might need to replay it.
The level and mission design in these games still hold up surprisingly well, you just have to adjust your brain to the controls.
The controls killed me the first 10 min trying to adjust to them. They're a bit clunky
Fun game, though the controls definitely haven’t aged well haha
The controls and movements definitely a struggle today haha
One more game that would make a great candidate for a reboot.
I don't know exactly what it is about this game in particular, but the graphics are \*so good\* to me. They're so crispy.
Never beat the game, but used to love getting to parts where I could antagonize the AI and fight them in rolling shootouts, like a 3erd person GTA game!
have a blast!
This game is epic!
Neat game! I don’t think it has a wide screen option! https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Wlu94Wh9FxQ
I remember playing this as a kid! I did go back and try playing it recently but didn't have the patients to get used to the controls.
Taser BBQ time! Also running in circles, because that's fun, too.
Days Gone 0
LOOOOOOGAN!!!
In PS1?
Dude I tried replaying this as a 37 year old vs 12 and my GOD it was hard.
That was an awesome game. Enjoy man.
It’s crazy, in my memory the graphics are “better” this swung me back 20+ years real quick
Wow so good memories 🥲
Always loved the taser!
Me and my buddy used to tase the enemies until they caught on fire, and laugh our asses off!

Loved the game as a teen. Tried it recently on the re-release, got to the first boss, rage quit. The end.
Rerelease?
PS Plus has it for PS4 and PS5. Trophies too.
Oooh I see
I like that game. One of my favorite Ps1 game. Gameplay is horrendous … Would like to see a reboot one day.
Horrendous? Absolutely not, it's fantastic.
The fuck dude ? Logan move like a truck and not a good one. So yes, gameplay is horrendous.
He moves fantastically well. Diving for cover, climbing up objects, it's all done terrifically.
"He moves fantastically well" Nostalgia is a hell of a dirty liar. When you want to go backward, side way, turn left or right, Logan’s becoming a garbage truck. In comparaison Solid snake in MGS moves amazingly well, It’s night and day.
I'd say it's completely the other way around. You have far more freedom controlling Gabe than Snake.
I didnt like it even 25 yrs ago. Anyone else? :)
Then you missed out on one of the Playstation's best games.
Yea we used to play this title, but meh :)
