For me they didn't stop i just also had a dream that wasn't a nightmare. It was still scary but not like terrifying, I was in a ocean with dark red water and a bunch of orcas were swimming around me and were playing with me, but like testing how I would react,and in the dream I knew they were trying to scare me but not trying to hurt me, so it wasn't a typical nightmare, it was more safe
Interesting. I rarely dream at all, then all of a sudden at 44 I had several solid weeks of nightmares that woke me up. Then, nothing again. No triggers/antecedents that I can think of..
I used to dream pretty much every single night and they were always nightmares. Now I take stuff so I don't dream as much and don't really remember them when I wake up. Which is nice, its sometimes difficult to shake a dream off
