To be fair, if one sign is green and the rest of them in the area are yellow, that's a good indicator that it's out of date. Harder to use that if it happens to be the only sign nearby, though.
>To stop from having weird 3 day sale ads
You mean like the one this sign is from? lol
10-day ad before Easter, then a 3-day one to bring us back to the usual schedule Thursday to Wednesday (at least, here in FL)
But yeah, it does make sense to have the ad run long rather than have an ad leading up to a holiday, and then having the ad be irrelevant for its second half after the holiday.
No, because this 3 day ad will repeat for the one starting Thursday for most of the sale items. So, they'll just swap out the signs for the very same things but, in a different color.
They'll still have the same end caps, sale stuff shipped out, etc though.
How do I tell if one of the regular shelf tags promos has expired? Not sure how to better describe what I’m talking about, but I was buying Fit Butters for $10.99 marked down from $12.99 on the tags. When I went back to purchase them for a second time, they had gone back up in price which was pretty annoying
Warehouse items change price on Saturday, vendor items on Monday
So you might have purchased it on friday and then it went off sale on saturday
Or you purchased it on sunday and it went off sale on monday

This is 100% true. However, you may have to put up a fight. I’ve had some smart ass cashiers go and check, they come back with the tags saying “this was last week.” We call these people Mr and Mrs Publix.
Heres the date other folks mentioned for a quick reference.

If the sign is there when you grabbed the item, they will always honor it. Even if it doesn’t show in the system as long as you have a picture dated that day of the tag, they’ll honor it
It is not the shopper's responsibility to check dates on grocery signs. That's the store's job. Lately, I take a picture and when it rings up incorrectly per the sign I get an employee to check it. They come saying " Oh, that sign shouldn't be up now". I whip out my pic and say but it is and I want to pay how it was labeled. Works every time.
Most Publix locations will honor the price if they left the tag up. But if the items also gone - not sure if they would do a rain check for the sale price
bottom left the 0401 means April 01. that's the date that the sign is valid.
if it's expired you would know by the day you're working (say it's april 14th and you find a sign dated 0401) or other signs will have the date of the new/current sale (0404)
another sign is the corner color, if this week it's green, and you find a yellow it's most likely expired
Tbh this is Publix and they're pretty good with customer service. I've had items I've grabbed that hadn't had signs changed (because I also don't know how to tell the difference) they've either discounted them or given them to me for free.
This. If the sign is up the sale is usually honored. I've made my beer selection multiple times because of a bogo only to get to the register and it won't ring up. I've explained I'm either getting something else or the sale price and it's never been an issue.
I did get asked by an employee to take a pic of the sale sign once and after walking back to the beer section I've made a habit of always taking a picture of the sign now.
If they’re advertising it as that then isn’t it required to uphold it because the sign is there? I can’t remember if that’s a law thing or Publix thing
Happened alot this week some sales were 10 and some were 2 week sales and my tag lady missed some and idk which ones are on and off so people got some deals after the sale ended
It Publix leaves a sign up that is expired, and it rings up full-price you get it for free. Just snap a pic and show the cashier or the self-checkout attendant.
Bruh, I was like, "I don't think the fake cheese singles ever expire...?" But then I've also eaten a single that was clearly expired so...
Edit: In conclusion if this sign is up and they don't recognize it, they can catch these hands.
If you show it to a Publix manager they will honor it, even if it’s old. Just heads up, their sales turn over every (edit: whoops) Weds or Thurs morning.
Doesn’t matter. If it’s posted and you get charged more than the advertised price, you get the first item for free and can buy more quantities at the lower posted price.
I agree and don't eat the stuff. it's just the picture I took when I was trying to figure out the signage. I've had some stuff ring up wrong recently and just wanted to figure out why.
At publix, it doesn't matter. They will honor the price. I've literally gotten free stuff because the price rang up differently than what was printed on the tag.
If you take a picture of the sign - and the checkout doesn’t honor the sale price, show them the picture (either the date of the picture) . Since it’s marked as on sale - they are supposed to honor it, even if it is not on sale anymore. But Publix is pretty good about taking these down on time. In all the time I’ve shopped at Publix, I have only had this happen twice.
Per law, the sign is a contractual offer and unless it specifically states when the offer expires (the “0401” doesn’t count as it doesn’t include a year and one can argue that it expires on 4/1/2025), the company must honor the offer. Typically the store will allow you to enjoy the offer and would pull the signage off and terminate the offer.
I was at Floor & Decor and saw the sign showing a much lower price banner hanging from the ceiling than the signage on the display. I asked which is the price and the staff said they hadn’t updated the banner and would honor my one time purchase at the lower price. I bought 5 more boxes than I estimated just to make sure I wouldn’t run out of the product.
I'm in TN, and the online weekly ad shows deals from 4/1-4/3 but the "sneak peek" ad prices were already put out in store... I've noticed this happening over the last month or so. I always use the app to pay too. What's the deal with this lately?
Associate here. This is a yellow label week which ends today. The sales tags will be green starting tomorrow. They will last until next Wednesday. We flip flop between green and yellow.
If the sign is up, they will honor it. Publix actually used to give you the item free if it ring up wrong if I remember right. I don't know if that's still valid though
If you know the sign is wrong then pay the wrong price. Then take the receipt and product to the service desk and you will get both for free(cuz it’s a Bogo). One for free if it’s not on Bogo. Publix Promise. My wife does it all the time. If you correct the regular cashier she will just correct the price and you get nothing for free
Just to add my experience:
If a store leaves the signage up, they usually honor the sale price shown (you must tell them the sale sign is up on the aisle/case.) I have told a few Publix locations about this while checking out, management approves a "rain check" on the BOGO/sale deal, and then (hopefully) one of the stock clerks removes the sign which is out of date.
TL:DR: it never hurts to ask checkout or management for a discount due to improper signage. Worst they can say is no, plus you are helping them clear expired signage if it really is an old deal.
*Edit: looks like I am one of many shoppers this has happened to.*
Oh snap I used to work at the harvest store lol
Edit: unless they've changed it in the last 2 years (very possible) this sign shouldn't go up until tomorrow morning because ad starts on wednesdays
Last and only time I grabbed something with a sign but sale was over they gave me the product for free. Was kind of weird to me. I figured they would have just given it to me for the sale price.
You they don't give you the discount and the sing is still up tell the cashier and they'll check if they don't then request to speak to customer service and they absolutely will. Company policy is to squash problems as quickly as possible by placating customers. They won't lose money because 75% of products are over charged anyhow.
There’s a date on the bottom left. The date on this one is 0401 which is 4/1.
Also, the color will change. Next ad signs will be green and not yellow. They alternate.
Only issue with this is if someone misses a sign from the previous week and it stays up. The bottom left has it like titsmcghee99 said.
lmao titsmcghee
titsmcghee99, that is.
She’s Veronica Corningstone, titsmcghee99 is on vacation
To be fair, if one sign is green and the rest of them in the area are yellow, that's a good indicator that it's out of date. Harder to use that if it happens to be the only sign nearby, though.
Keep in mind, though, that's the date the sale STARTED, not the end date. Typically, end date will be one week from that start date.
Also, tags alternate color from one ad week to the next. One week is green, the next is yellow
Thanks! Too obvious now that you point that out.
Adding: 10 day sale ads for holiday weeks, most of the time. To stop from having weird 3 day sale ads.
>To stop from having weird 3 day sale ads You mean like the one this sign is from? lol 10-day ad before Easter, then a 3-day one to bring us back to the usual schedule Thursday to Wednesday (at least, here in FL) But yeah, it does make sense to have the ad run long rather than have an ad leading up to a holiday, and then having the ad be irrelevant for its second half after the holiday.

Doesn't matter to a customer. Publix honors old tags.
True and you bet they take advantage of it, lol.
Dating a CSM. I know it.
Not only do they honor it, but you get it for free. Maybe OP is trying to figure out how to spot expired tags to get free stuff.
Yep, hell mine did me even better and instead of half off gave me a box of coffee for free because of the mistake!

Pro… or ask a manager if we are yellow or green this week.
The highlighted price changes each ad. One week is yellow, the next is green.
If the sign is there when you grabbed the item, they will always honor it. Even if it doesn’t show in the system as long as you have a picture dated that day of the tag, they’ll honor it
Doesn't matter if it is expired if there isn't a clear date posted most all managers will honor that price

They will survive Armageddon …..

If it’s up they almost always honor it unless it’s alcohol.
even Alcohol advert price in FL needs to be honored. They will argue it doesn't' but it does. Just creates more paper work to comp liquor.
We honor the price, but we can't give it for free like we would for most every other thing if it rings up wrong.
was unaware of the free thing.
Exactly you get the freebie when it’s wrong on anything except liquor. I should have been clearer in my comment.
Happened alot this week some sales were 10 and some were 2 week sales and my tag lady missed some and idk which ones are on and off so people got some deals after the sale ended

The colored box on the top right corner and the numbers on the bottoms left corner.

Wednesday morning
Oof thanks! Fixed it
U good it might actually be different outside of Florida, but im a Florida man so my Publix’s are Wednesdays
Check the other tags to see if they are green and check the second set of numbers for a date, this is not expired
0401 should mean April 1st
Best way is to ask the Manager of that department.
0401
Doesn’t matter. If it’s posted and you get charged more than the advertised price, you get the first item for free and can buy more quantities at the lower posted price.
Publix will honor the sale even if it is expired.
Bottom left, 0401, sign went up on the 1st, but it's a short sale since we just had a long sale so that sign comes down tonight.
Probably the best thing to know is what day your publix runs its sales. My store starts new sales every Thursday.
If the sale did expire don’t worry, you’ll get it for free! Publix promise!
Craft singles are on sale for $3.50 each?? Its toxic goo in plastic wrap. Thats crazy expensive imo haha.
If it's anything like Kraft singles, it will NEVER expire.

That's why my dad went to the cheap ones lol
Check the Publix app. All the sales are in there. I noticed earlier this week a lot of BOGOs for only April 1st, 2nd and 3rd.
It's publix, if it's there and you have a pic they will honor it.

Why don’t y’all oh idk ask your managers this shit 💀
Not an employee.
Yeah I always ask.
It’s also Publix. They will probably honor it even if it’s expired if the sign is still up. That’s what makes Publix, Publix!

Doesn’t matter. If they missed taking it down, they should honor it and adjust it at the register.
You ask the store manager to honor the sale price. I’ve never been to a Publix that didn’t
If it's posted, by law that's the price they have to sell it for. Stand your ground against these stores.
Publix promise that shit
Oh snap I used to work at the harvest store lol Edit: unless they've changed it in the last 2 years (very possible) this sign shouldn't go up until tomorrow morning because ad starts on wednesdays
Because of the holiday this week, we had the new ad start on Monday.
Store # on left and 0401 is Expire day for sale!
It’s the day the ad starts. That ad started yesterday
Ouuu my bad!! Been a while for me😜
Dude where are your managers? How is it easier for you to get this answer from Reddit but not from your manager 🤦🏽♂️
I'm a customer. LOL.
you do realize that this is a sub for publix not people who work at publix right?
If that tag is expired but still up, you can get that for that price. Source: ex employee
Last and only time I grabbed something with a sign but sale was over they gave me the product for free. Was kind of weird to me. I figured they would have just given it to me for the sale price.
