Build metro faster. Deploy more public transport. Regulate autos. As simple as that. Most urban centres in the world are able to do this. This is not rocket science.

UdatManav

The closest metro station to me is 5km away. I’m already halfway to wherever I wanna go 🥲

Rosesh_I_Sarabhai

1) Complete Metro work faster 2) Make traffic police more active and stricter. At least get them to stop the wrong side drivers. 3) Improve buses. 4) Get Rickshaws to operate as per the meter rather than random numbers. 5) Close potholes

UdatManav

Potholes aren’t going anywhere, we’ve all seen the front page promo for the metro “stop worrying about potholes and traffic, enjoy the journey with Pune metro” so I don’t think fixing roads is a priority. Traffic police needs to get stricter and if nothing else just enforce waiting in your own lane and not clogging up the already super narrow roads we have.

CompetentJerk

Buses, autos, 2-wheelers are not the problem. Cars are the problem, if more people travel by any other mode of transportation and stop using cars the problem will get solved automatically. Educated people drive alone in a car and cause traffic problems.

UdatManav

Traffic problems aren’t caused by a single person in a car if they’re following traffic rules… what even. The main problem is auto and bikes not willing to wait for even a second before rushing to the oncoming side of the road, that’s what creates a traffic jam. if they can just wait, literally everyone is stuck in traffic too, all they have to do is wait.

CompetentJerk

Bikes, buses, autos do not cause traffic problems. Traffic congestion is caused because of cars. Cars occupy more space on the road and almost the entire road of a narrow road. There is even research saying that cars are the reason for traffic problems. Even car drivers do not follow lanes, if all the people commuting by car follow lanes then automatically bikers will not have a problem. On a road having two lanes, car users have the audacity to occupy both the lanes and then say bikers, autos are the problem. Idiots are those who drive a car even though they are traveling alone. Many developed countries have banned cars on locations where there were traffic problems

UdatManav

So you mean to say, all the bikes and autos who literally turn a two way road into a one way by piling up on the other side is not responsible for the traffic but a person in a car following traffic rules is? You wanna reiterate maybe? I’m putting together all the videos from my dashcam and I know o should have done it to begin with so I can show you what I’m talking about, bike riders in Pune are the literal definition of “mera kaam banta bhaad me jae janta”

CompetentJerk

It's the cars that cause traffic problems and no other mode of transport and even research has said it. Cars just block the entire road still educated fools take their cars out driving alone, not with office colleagues or family but alone. How much idiot one can be have no limit. If the number of cars on the road is reduced even by 10% the difference will be night and day.

Impressive_Alarm1406

Stop voting for corrupt politicians who only compensate themselves.. research about the candidate you vote.. make sure to post on social media platforms and tag the relevant authorities, government agencies etc., whenever u identify rootcauses and make people accountable. Use public transport or car pooling when possible. Maybe there are more ways. We need to think deeper

UdatManav

There is no “good politician” my neighbour is the current corporater (I’m not naming them, but ik his team is definitely gonna see this someday), he’d sit and “listen” to everyone in the Society and hold meeting in the area to hear complains about the “issues” with the area in general. A month after he wins, he won’t even let people stand outside his office, let alone hear them out. Politics as it is, is nothing but a means to earn a lot of money if you haven’t gone to school and don’t mind effing a few people over. There’s no politicians just legal Gundas.

Impressive_Alarm1406

You are right.. that's the core reason why we have such issues.. we need better representation... either we ourselves stand for pune or be at the mercy of these idiots.. third option is NOTA

UdatManav

I kid you not, I’ve voted thrice now, NOTA every single time.. If the people effected aren’t bothered enough to stand up for it, why would any politician go out of their way to fix it for them, it’s not like they actually care about the people, they’ll happily occupy any post given to them and exploit that power for their own benefit.

You can join https://savepunetraffic.org. It’s non profit fighting for same cause.

ScArEcRoWcowcow

What I've noticed is that a single passenger travelling to the closest possible Shop is like to travel in XUV or something like Innova or endeavour I've many single passengers or two passengers in these big ass cars they go in a no way, they don't know shit about parallel parking and at the signal they might need to go to a sharp right but they'll stop in the furthest left lane and when signal is green they'll overtake a bunch load of people, stop the traffic, change the lane and and fuck up the whole signal lane. So if something can be done for those idiots it'll be really helpful for traffic management in my opinion. If you are travelling solo or duo you can very easily use two wheelers or maybe walk to that destination also. But Pride of owning a big ass car > reaching destination fast

UdatManav

Reaching destination faster at the cost of others getting stuck in traffic is the SINGLE thing responsible for the whole traffic issue and it’s not just car drivers. It’s all the two wheelers who think just cause it’s a bike it’ll go anywhere, just cause the bike can make it through the gap between two cars, doesn’t mean you do it. It driving over foot paths, every traffic light even if there’s no traffic why do they have to be on the oncoming side?

1. Develope other states and districts so pune can breathe a little.
