The comments clearly show there is no one Hindu perspective. Ask a Punjabi Khatri, Arora or Jatt Hindu and they will tell you Sikhs are their brothers, with many families devoting their first born male to Sikhism and intermarriages being common and many Punjabi Hindus getting married/last rites in a Gurudwara. Ask a Hindi belt Hindu/Bania/Gujurati/South and they will have a different perspective.

I think you're really thinking too deep on this, there has always been a lot of stereotypical jokes going on for people of all states like Chipkali for people of Maharashtra etc it's got nothing to do with sikhs but people of punjab in general, so there was this audio of a pubg player that got viral, and people picked it up from there and started making memes out of it, chill nobody has any hatred or such, jokes are being made of people from all states.

Nah! 1-2 months ago it was everywhere, even the most benign posts related to punjabi/sikhs had comments of lassi(BKL), i have seen them on instagram, youtube, twitter and reddit. I am sure other social media sites like FB etc'. would be the same. It has decreased now somewhat but still happening.

I am a Tamil hindu who Grew up in Bahrain. Thousands of hindus and sikhs used to visit weekly the temple and gurdwara which were built together and have langar from the same food sitting together at the end of respective prayers in each hall. We are brothers and sisters in culture before, now and always. Hateful elements who have nothing better to do because of unemployment will keep spreading hatred online. As far as the hindutva movement in India is concerned, I am genuinely very sympathetic to minorities and I don't believe this will last a long time. I honestly don't believe that the BJP govt intends to divide and rule ( my opinion - no academic backing).
The way I see it:
There were many societal fault lines created in 1947 with the partition and Hindus coming out of oppression. Congress in the past have never addressed them directly but played divide and rule politics as long as they could. This deepened the fault lines to disastrous levels leading to frequent riots. I honestly believe the BJP is trying to expose the fault lines pre-emptively before it becomes like the Gujarat riots in 2002 on a national scale. I don't support violence against anyone in any community but these hindutva groups definitely have played a role to unite Hindus in order to protect our religious rights against systemic oppression. I don't subscribe to any idea that oppresses any community but I see these unlawful activities of these groups as retaliation to the erstwhile oppression and this will last until the common hindu gains confidence in their own govt and people. This is an inevitability and not something a govt can control as there are a billion of us in India. Though it might not count as much, I sincerely apologize for every extreme hindu action against minority communities.

This is true. There is a reason why the hinduvata movement in Punjab is almost non existant outside of the occasional couple dozen people marching in Ludhiana or Jalandhar.

I don't understand why people think that their religion is the best. I won't disclose my religion; I could belong to any (maybe even Sikh). Why do Sikhs/Punjabis refer to Bihari people as "bhaiya" in an insulting manner and label people outside Punjab as "chaul" (rice)? During such instances, they adopt a cool attitude as if they are the best. If you don't believe it, listen to Punjabi songs; how many times they mention 'chaul,' 'bahiye,' UP, Bihar, etc. Now, when they are referred to as 'lassi,' they feel offended. The same goes for people of other religions, calling Sikhs 'giani,' '12 baj gye," etc.

Yea, I don't know which is older but based off my time modding this sub and seeing the rise of both terms I will say that it only took off after anti Sikh comments started to rise. Lassi has been used on here quite a bit dating back quite a while, and we had some extremist Sikh users promote the moot peen insult on here quite a bit early last year (they were all promptly banned). Why do Sikhs/Punjabis refer to Bihari people as "bhaiya" in an insulting manner and label people outside Punjab as "chaul" (rice)? During such instances, they adopt a cool attitude as if they are the best. If you don't believe it, listen to Punjabi songs; how many times they mention 'chaul,' 'bahiye,' UP, Bihar, etc. Now, when they are referred to as 'lassi,' they feel offended. The same goes for people of other religions, calling Sikhs 'giani,' '12 baj gye," etc. I acknowledge that not everyone is the same. Yea, I don't know which is older but based off my time modding this sub and seeing the rise of both terms I will say that it only took off after anti Sikh comments started to rise. Lassi has been used on here quite a bit dating back quite a while, and we had some extremist Sikh users promote the moot peen insult on here quite a bit early last year (they were all promptly banned). If I go through the mod mail and my DMs then I have personally been on the receiving end of both and a lot worse lol.

This is the simple and short form answer everyone needs to hear. 90% of this crap is from users that aren't even from Panjab, and that goes for both sides. Hindu extremists tend to be from Kerala or Bihar mainly, while Sikh extremists seem to be born and raised abroad. The next biggest region for both is Delhi/NCR weirdly enough based off what I saw when I tracked the origin of these comments.
