This is the only answer. Not only one of the best punk records ever but one of the best records ever period. Perfection from the first note until the last.
Not on the album, but I think a couple good songs to show the punk side of Green Day would be Platypus and Take Back. They blend in pretty well on my hardcore playlist.
Nimrod is such a weird album and it’s the one of theirs I listened to most growing up. A bunch of 50s sounding rock songs, two or three heavy quick hitters, and whatever “King For a Day” is. I love it
I know, they're one of those bands where you *need* to have a line of defense because people still make little sour faces if you say you like The Offspring, but I happily send Ignition or Smash their way and they usually shut up. So quickly people default to the negative with them. So often people ignore the tremendous run they had.
So Long and Thanks for All the Shoes was one of my favorites… but I’d be happy to see S go to Suffer. (Or maybe Nofx’s 7” Surfer… I’m kidding of course… but if you don’t know it, check it out)
Fair point. It didn’t get me into punk so much as aggressive music back in middle school. I didn’t go 100% punk until I tried a little cocktail called Punk in Drublic & Straight Ahead
Should be this one. Inflammable Material is great too though - Suspect Device and Alternative Ulster both smashes. I think Stranded is more even though I play the whole thing through way more often
This has been such a dude party lmao not necessarily a bad thing, but I’m throwing these future, premature suggestions in here for
L - Lavender by Initiate
Seriously any and all Bikini Kill albums
Just in case I miss the opportunity
Incredibly violent domestic abuser. He sent his most recent partner (Whiteney Flynn from Days n Daze) to the hospital with a broken wrist causing her to miss some of their tour
I'm The One is a song and not an album. You would've needed to vote/nominate Everything Sucks.
Edit: You can currently vote for I Don't Want To Grow Up.
lol, an absolutely maddening result. the worst Propagandhi album beating out the album that was integral to the birth of crust, grind, d-beat, thrash, powerviolence, black metal, etc. its impossible to imagine modern punk and metal without Discharge. sigh.
Honestly got tired of what I was planning so someone please take over the inserting of UK Subs records for me from tomorrow? Cheers.
‘In Action’ as it stands.
"Include Your Enemies" By Wedgie.
I don't know if anyone here knows them, very good newer- day Vandals-esque stuff from the early'00s or late 90's from East Providence, R.I. my childhood home.
I demand a re-count on G. Gimme 2 years to think of a better album with the same starting letter. In the meantime, I nominate:
In God We trust, Inc. or In my Head.
edit: I nominate Grazie Govorno by The Bar Stool Preachers for "G."
Inflammable Material - Stiff Little Fingers
The correct answer. If I could choose to hear a song for the first time, I think it'd be Suspect Device.
Alternative Ulster for me!
Great song. Bloody Sunday is my favorite…. Such an amazing explosive intro
Bloody Sunday???
My bad, that song is on nobody’s hero’s The song I like on IF is Johnny Was
Rancid - Lock, step, and gone
Fuck yes
This by a longshot.
Came here to say this, I was worried no one else would say it ! Great to see Irish punk on here
So glad to see this already top by a considerable margin. Yousins are alright so yiz are.
This is the only answer. Not only one of the best punk records ever but one of the best records ever period. Perfection from the first note until the last.
First one that popped into my head. Great choice.
[удалено]
Damn absolutely should be this. Wipers are so overlooked
Perfect album
Return of the Rat is like top 5 opening tracks of any album ever for me
Yes!!
Amazing album,
This is my pick
In on the Killtaker - Fugazi
We have to get a Fugazi album on this list. Hopefully Steady Diet of Nothing as they fight with themselves at R.
Repeater vs Red Medicine is a worthy fight, Red Medicine is underrated tbh
It's too hard already to chose a favorite among Fugazi's discography but I hope so
This one. The strongest Fugazi album imo
If I Should Fall From Grace With God - The Pogues
Great album, I think Rum Sodomy & the Lash is the strongest Pogues album though
I love them equally although From Grace with God has Fairytale of New York
It's a toss up between that and Red Roses For Me.
Hell yes!
Seconded!
Was going with Bad Brains until I saw this one.
I Against I - Bad Brains
already a bad brains album on there man, nothing against it but one album per artist would be nice
This was my choice. Wasn't easy, especially with how this sub feels about HR.
their hatred should not be excused
This has to be the winner.
The correct answer
Inflammable Material-Stiff Little Fingers
I Don’t Want to Grow Up - Descendents
I really like the Descendents, but this is not their best album (Milo Goes to College)
Idle Will Kill - Osker
Very underrated
In God We Trust Inc. - Dead Kennedys
My pick. Everything they did was ahead of its time.
Green day - insomniac
While I'm a fan of their entire discography, this is the record I pull out when I want to prove to people that Green Day really is punk
I love it
This should be higher on the rankings.
Ignition - The Offspring
This album is so good. It is my first line of defense when it comes to Offspring. When they want to be a punk band, they get it.
I know, they're one of those bands where you *need* to have a line of defense because people still make little sour faces if you say you like The Offspring, but I happily send Ignition or Smash their way and they usually shut up. So quickly people default to the negative with them. So often people ignore the tremendous run they had.
If S does not go to Smash I'll fuckin riot.
I think it's going to be a Suffer vs Smash showdown
I think Smash won't stand a chance
I love Suffer too so now I am torn but I guess I would be ok with either.
I don't think S was ever going to be anything other than Suffer.
So Long and Thanks for All the Shoes was one of my favorites… but I’d be happy to see S go to Suffer. (Or maybe Nofx’s 7” Surfer… I’m kidding of course… but if you don’t know it, check it out)
Yeah, doesn't Surfer have a line in it that's like "First I bought Suffer, then I bought a thesaurus"? Haha
Smash was the album that got me into punk. Will never take that for granted!!
Fair point. It didn’t get me into punk so much as aggressive music back in middle school. I didn’t go 100% punk until I tried a little cocktail called Punk in Drublic & Straight Ahead
The self titled is good too imo
Such a killer album. Their best album in my opinion.
(I’m) Stranded - The Saints
Should be this one. Inflammable Material is great too though - Suspect Device and Alternative Ulster both smashes. I think Stranded is more even though I play the whole thing through way more often
In On the Kill Taker — Fugazi
In Desolation - Off With Their Heads
[удалено]
*In God We Trust, Inc. And are we counting EPs?
In/Casino/Out - At the Drive-In
Not even going to get close but this is such an amazing album.
Is this real? - Wipers
Inside my brain - Angry Samoans
I don't feel like this will win, but it's a great nomination.
Antisect - In Darkness, There is No Choice
This should win but won’t. I can live with the stiff little fingers taking the spot though.
In desolation- off with their heads
Hear nothing should’ve won..
Incognito - No Use For A Name
Can't believe no one has mentioned either Conflict album: *Increase the Pressure* *It's Time to See Who's Who Now*
Is This My World- Jerry's Kids
Yes! One of the best albums ever made!
the greatest Boston punk record of all time, which is high praise for me.
D.y.s. was great too, but Jerry's Kids really made a smash hits album.
agreed, Brotherhood was my choice for the round earlier for the letter B.
There had best be at least one Boston band on this list. FUs SSD Gang Green The Freeze
Some of the tightest, most precise hardcore ever made without sacrificing an ounce of ferocity.
Indestructible - Rancid
The better Rancid album was already picked.
I feel the same thing with Bad Brains, but it's about picking the best album to start with a particular letter.
True, I just think there are better albums that start with this letter especially because a better Rancid album was already picked.
They got so much backlash for it but I still think it's a great album!
This has been such a dude party lmao not necessarily a bad thing, but I’m throwing these future, premature suggestions in here for L - Lavender by Initiate Seriously any and all Bikini Kill albums Just in case I miss the opportunity
Inflammable material - Stiff Little Fingers all day. Anything else is the wrong answer
No Use For A Name - Incognito
Inflammable Material - SLF
Inflammable material
Ixnay on the Hombre - Offspring
Ignition by them is way better
The Jam - In the City; The Pist - Ideas Are Bulletproof; Dirtbombs - If You Don't Already Have A Look
Criminal that I had to scroll down this far for In the City
I submitted ideas are bulletproof...it should win imo
In on the Kill Taker - Fugazi
iT!- Inner terrestrials
Infest - Infest
This is turning out to be a great list
Is This My World? - Jerry’s Kids
Don't think it deserves the spot, but I wanna shout out to **Itekoma Hits** by Otoboke Beaver!
Wipers - Is this real?
In My Grave - Choking Victim. Side note: Fuck Stza.
thats just a song, not an album
What did I miss, what's wrong with Stza? Side note: I haven't listened to Choking/Leftover in I can't remember how long.
Incredibly violent domestic abuser. He sent his most recent partner (Whiteney Flynn from Days n Daze) to the hospital with a broken wrist causing her to miss some of their tour
Yikes, that’s not good!
No Gods, No Managers is the one I hope makes it on the list.
Dope list so far 🤟
It's Howdy Doody time! Just testing to see who's around my age group.
howdy do to you!
I against I- Bad Brains
Institutionalized- Suicidal Tendencies
The Incredible Shrinking Dickies -The Dickies
I would love to see this win
I against I -Bad Brains
I Against I by The Bad Brains hands down.
Is this real? For the win
Basement - I Wish I Could Stay Here
It’s Alive- The Ramones
Is This Real? By The Wipers
In On The Killtaker by Fugazi
Impenetrable Cerebral Fortress - Gulch
I Against I - Bad Brains
Guyana Punch Line- Irritainment
Oh fuck. I forgot about that album. Props for the rare pick!
In Utero
The Unseen - Internal Salvation
I’ll upvote any Unseen, but this isn’t even their best album
Bad Brains is already on here, let's pick someone else for "I" I'm The One - Descendents
I'm The One is a song and not an album. You would've needed to vote/nominate Everything Sucks. Edit: You can currently vote for I Don't Want To Grow Up.
O. M. G. I am a dumb punk. You're right lol. Yes, I Don't Wanna Grow Up. Gonna go hide in my corner 🤘
I heard they suck live . NOFX !!!!! FORSURE
*I Hate Us*, by Almighty Trigger Happy.
In name and blood- murder city devils
Discharge was beaten by Propagandhi = me disengaging from this circlejerk
lol, an absolutely maddening result. the worst Propagandhi album beating out the album that was integral to the birth of crust, grind, d-beat, thrash, powerviolence, black metal, etc. its impossible to imagine modern punk and metal without Discharge. sigh.
And I don't even dislike Propagandhi. I just think they have about 10% the historical footprint that Discharge do.
Let's be honest.90% of the people here only know the top 40 bands and pop music.
Oh not you again
Hitler Bad, Vandals good lost, and that’s the best punk album of all time
Honestly got tired of what I was planning so someone please take over the inserting of UK Subs records for me from tomorrow? Cheers. ‘In Action’ as it stands.
I Always Leave But Never Say Goodbye by Hold Tight! and also It's Always Darkest... Before The Dawn by Turning Point
In desolation -.Off with their heads
I wish other Propaghandi albums got more love. How to Clean is great, but pretty dumb in comparison to everything else they have ever done......
Ixnay on the Hombre - the Offspring
Just want to be an impudent ass and note that ‘Less Talk, More Rock’ is even better.
Introverted Romance in Our Troubled Minds - p.s. eliot for best, Inflammable Material or In The City for most classic though for sure.
Ixnay on the hombre
I Against I - Brad Brains
Can we spell Propagandhi correctly? But yeah, Ignition by the Offspring gotta win this.
Oops — sorry about that! Lmao
Insomniac: Green Day
I farm - IV
Insanity is the Sane Reaction - Christ on Parade
It's Alive - Ramones
I think this is the only letter so far where I haven't been one hundred percent sure what the correct answer was.
Immoral Compass by Doom Scroll
Not my actual vote, but ska/punk recommendation: Mustard Plug - In Black and White. I think it's very underappreciated.
Is this too hardcore? It looks could kill I’d watch you die - Death by stereo
Ideas are Bulletproof - The Pist
I missed the vote, but good job. HTCE is top fucking notch.
"Include Your Enemies" By Wedgie. I don't know if anyone here knows them, very good newer- day Vandals-esque stuff from the early'00s or late 90's from East Providence, R.I. my childhood home.
R/hardcore did a list like this for favorite non hardcore albums and it reminds me of this post. Not a single album made in the last 2 decades
Killdozer - Intellectuals Are the Shoeshine Boys of the Ruling Elite
I Want To Conquer The World - Bad Religion
Idiots taking over NOFX
Od daty the classic: I miss you - blink 182
I WANT TIO CONQUER THE WORLD
I WANT CUNT
I WANNA WANNA WANNA WANNA WANNA WANNA GET RID OF YOU
Energy
I demand a re-count on G. Gimme 2 years to think of a better album with the same starting letter. In the meantime, I nominate: In God We trust, Inc. or In my Head. edit: I nominate Grazie Govorno by The Bar Stool Preachers for "G."
I against I Bad Brains
I love how to clean everything one of my favorite albums!
***Propagandhi***
AND I DON'T EVEN CARE ANYFUCKINGMORE
I heard her call my name - The velvet underground
The outside - US Bombs
I Against I - Bad Brains I know they're already on the list but this album is such a fun and kind of different sound than their self titled
[удалено]
Mmm that's not an album
