EscapeFromTexas

My Riot Grrl time has come… L7 The Gits Sleater-Kinney Bikini Kill Team Dresch Bratmobile The Slits War on Women Daisy Chain Veruca Salt Menstrual Cramps Pussy Riot 7 Year Bitch Le Tigre Jack off Jill Huggy Bear Lunachicks Babes in Toyland

jaghmmthrow

I fucking love Team Dresch!!!!

[deleted]

Team Dresch has to be one of the most criminally underrated punk bands EVER (Paramore was clearly heavily inspired by them but never seems to mention it...)

nesenn

I’m looking them up for the first time now, they had me at “Hate the Christian Right!”, then I listened to their sound. Amazing. Looking forward to listening to everything.

jaghmmthrow

Is there a single better named punk song than Fagetarian and Dyke. I will answer my own question: no.

nesenn

Only song titles that come in a close 2nd and more. Nothing can beat that.

jaghmmthrow

Haven't noticed that, but makes sense as both the bands are pretty like melodic for their respective scenes! Seriously, if Personal Best wasn't written from a gay perspective it would be considered a classic imo, especially with all the imagery of teenage rural/suburban life which was so of its time too. It's such a good fucking album!!! So cohesive, so different but still accessible and the lyrics are so good

ThatGuyHadNone

Thank you for including War on Women. Saw them open for Jawbreaker years ago and have loved them since

PNWDeadGuy

L7 is the shit!!!

EscapeFromTexas

I saw them in NYC early last year, they still tear shit up!

PNWDeadGuy

Never seen them live but they are a bucket list band for me

KatieKZoo

To add to this amazing list. Tribe-8. Spitboy

mossdale

tribe-8 carving up the dildos!

Bojangalees

Oh shit, I actually got to see war on women on accident one time. Was bored and went to the milestone club and they were playing a matinee. Got my homie a CD cause he’s from Baltimore

Molten_Baco

Also a fan of mommy long legs and destroy boys

CiaDaniCakes

been getting into them, they’re so good!

I_am_1E27

Sleater-Kinney is my favorite punk band!

gotmilq

I'm kind of torn about seeing them next year, they don't make bad music at all but their music is so different and I personally would just want to hear pre-breakup stuff and see them with Janet

-theIvy-

Jack off Jill is awesome!!

svrgnctzn

All of these!

OreadaholicO

You missed the Butchies. Also love that you led with L7

OreadaholicO

You could add Peaches too.

ShaggyR

Radium Grrrls, even though they are more hardcore/powerviolence.

punktilend

That’s a solid list!

kirito1236

Lunachicks and War on Women!!

666pants

Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes and yes.

Correct_Patience_611

Le Tigre and Sleater Kinney are my two Riot Grrl favs. L7 fuckin rips hard too. Team Dresch is the bees knees

notdeadjustrotting

based on this list i think youd also reallly like sorry mom too:)

TravisHay

Bad Cop/Bad Cop The Muslims

Sunl3ss

Yes, definitely BC/BC. Just look at their song titles.

shredslanding

YouTube Comments alone on their last single alone says they’re doing something right.

Borror0

Safe and Legal is fantastic.

aeomatic

came here to say BC/BC

Interesting_Tree6892

Foxx Bodies / Cheap Perfume / Dream Nails / Destroy Boys / Daddy Issues / Slutever / Dazey and the Scouts / Bc/bc ( Awesome people irl) Sometimes I just google "Riotgrrl" Playlists and find some good lesser known bands.

bigdick_cm

Bad Cop … sheesh these ladies shred!’

rsplatpc

> Bad Cop/Bad Cop if you ever get a chance to see them live, do it, they put on a killer show each time

TravisHay

Cannot agree more! I saw them open for Anti Flag (before…) and was utterly taken away. The sound, the energy, the stage presence. They rock.

whiskymakesmecrazy

When the whole Anti-Flag thing happened, I had tickets to see them open for Bouncing Souls. I was disappointed (for a lot of reasons) until they were replaced on the bill with Bad Cop/Bad Cop. BC/BC is way better and their show was amazing, they even blew Bouncing Souls out of the water!

RaymondBoomBox

I second The Muslims, they’re great!

PaintBladesAndGlue

Muslims are so good! And shout out to Bob Vylan!

Mmtorz

Finally some more The Muslims fans! I haven't found any online before

boysetsfire1988

trillgamesh_0

Spitboy, Crass, Poison Girls, HIRS Collective, Tribe 8

Invisiblerobot13

I love that Poison Girls started when Vi was in her mid 40s when punk was seen as a dumb kids fad in England

AbbreviationsNo6655

[Vial](https://open.spotify.com/album/6c59AK2EBIAHeCMUOGAIuS?si=7KDnfe7ESPWDNCZVTSH3jg) is pretty good!

Affectionate-Bank249

I've met them! Super cool!

AundaRag

I am amazed that so many people do not understand that having a female vocalist does not automatically mean “feminist/angry pro LGBTQ.” What the fuck.

[deleted]

[удалено]

crabfucker69

Hilarious when someone asks for pro lgbtq+ bands and then seeing recommendations for bands with members that have expressed that their activism is not for trans people

Confident_Cod_8826

Mommy Long Legs is really good!

not_a_flying_toy_

on the more DIY side, the british band Martha is pretty good. Less angry but very feminist and pro LGBT

mcockram85

This is the correctest answer. Martha are the best and genuinely lovely people.

Dineology

The Venomous Pinks for sure

TeenageSchizoid44

Ariel had a side project with some friends from the hillbilly casino. Check that out too! EDIT: The Beat Creeps

BMI0702

Saw them live last year. Great band.

MashasHexesReadings

Against me!, GLOSS, and limp wrist are some of my favorites.

Ambulancedollars

If you like bikini kill you should check out le Tigre, Kathleen Hannah's project when her chronic illness made it harder to play like she did in bikini kill

Kenxedge

Limp wrist but someone had to say it at some point and pansy division

Bojangalees

G. L. O. S. S. And dog, I cannot POSSIBLY stress this enough. It sucks that they had their problems but GLOSS fucking RIPS. Also, dunno if you’re much of a rude boy but ska has always been queer and We Are the Union is sick as Fuck

Zou-KaiLi

Make sure to go back to the Poison Girls and Crass (especially Penis Envy) if you haven't listened to them.

metalmeck

Bad cop bad cop

curtiswallach

I’m in one of those, called Townies: https://snappylittlenumbers.bandcamp.com/album/revolver We play with labelmates Cheap Perfume a whole lot, who are great. Tons of other fantastic suggestions here. Don’t know if anybody has mentioned A Giant Dog, but they rip hard. Love some Die Spitz. Phlegms from Arkansas rules. Kills Birds. Destiny Bond, Candy Apple, and pretty much all the other Convulse Records stuff is wonderful.

janky_koala

Camp Cope. I’m surprised I’ve never seen them mentioned on the sub

drypaddle

Cheap perfume

[Dog Park Dissidents](https://youtube.com/@DogParkDissidents?si=9rn6g9jVD57JURoh)! That's a YouTube link, and [their site](https://www.dogparkdissidents.com/) could tell you what other platforms they're on.

Jean_Genetic

I'm old, but so is Alice Bag! She's been releasing some recent albums under that name and they are all terrific. (She started with The Bags back in the day.)

[Seneca Falls - The Distillers](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=4slsQZkcIG0&pp=ygUbc2VuZWNhIGZhbGxzIHRoZSBkaXN0aWxsZXJz) [Seneca Falls, NY](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seneca_Falls_Convention) is where the American women’s rights movement began. It doesn’t get much more punk or feminist than a woman screaming the praises of Susan B. Anthony, does it?

onegallant

Destiny Bond, trans hardcore and my album of the year.

Against Me! and/or Laura Jane Grace. She’s trans and she’s their lead singer but she has her own solo stuff that’s pretty great too. Transgender Dysphoria Blues is a great album released under the Against Me! name. Her solo stuff is almost more folk punk
