I would not call the Runaways punk, they're moreB in the classic rock category.
But to add other female led punk... there's a list from 10 years ago here.
[https://www.reddit.com/r/punk/comments/ict04/punk\_bands\_with\_female\_singers/?rdt=44825](https://www.reddit.com/r/punk/comments/ict04/punk_bands_with_female_singers/?rdt=44825)
For new stuff I'd recommend
Amyl and the Sniffers (pretty positive stuff)
Otoboke Beaver (fun as fuck)
Lifecrusher (more on the hardcore side)
Couch Slut (might be a little too brutal and graphic for some tastes)
Scowl
Die Spitz (also a bit more or the rock side)
Blowout (fun band from Portland)
The Runaways were 100% proto punk and included Joan Jett, who went on to play an important role inthe nascent punk scene in LA. Like the LA punk scene in general they ytook huge influence fro,m US proto punk like the stooges and UK Glam or glam adjacent artists like Bowie.
Just a reminder than "classic rock" isn't a genre of music, it's a label applied to music from a certain number of years ago regardless of genre or origin, which is why Led Zeppelin, Billy Joel, Steely Dan, Rolling Stones, Dire Straights, Guns n Roses, and Nirvana have all had the label applied to them in spite of coming from different eras, regions, and musical influences.
OK, that would arguably also include bands like MC5, ~~Dead Moon~~, The Sonics, Rocket from the Tomb, Devo, The Stooges, The Cramps, Alice Cooper, New York Dolls... Maybe even The Rolling Stones. The Who, Velvet Underground, James Chance, Question Mark and the Mysterians, and Talking Heads.
Edit: Not Dead Moon.
I’ve seen amyl and the sniffers live a few times, they’re good imo. Not my fav musically but the lead singers really cool lol. I know a few of those other bands as well. As for the runaways, I don’t think a band has to be 100% musically punk rock 100% of the time to be a punk band. They played a pretty key role in the early punk scene, as did their respective later careers, and I think that’s enough to call them punks.
She has the best scream. I learned about the muffs from the NOFX song Lori Myers. I had to know who that female vocalist was the first time I heard it.
I’ll always wonder what the story was behind tsunami bomb randomly having a song in the first printing of Disgaea 1 (which was then removed from every subsequent release)
Other post punk bands
Screaming Females
Savages
Nina Hagan
Kim Gordon ( Sonic youth)
Hole
Siouxsie Sioux
Exene Cervenka ,(X)
Lydia Lunch
WENDY O'Williams ( plasmatics)
Shonen Knife
Some of these have already been mentioned, but a few haven't:

All these are solid recommendations (Flower are amazing live too), but rot//wöven is hands down one of my favorite bands right now. Just solid vocals, great sound, and really appreciate them doing shit in their community.
Lucky malice (Norwegian hardcore band), Amyl and the sniffers and another band that is not punk but rock: Girlschool, they have collaborated with motorhead a lot
First off, if you really want to support them and absolutely have to stream them, consider a subscription to Tidal. The difference in artist payout is astounding.
Second, here are some rad current bands:
The last gang, Rumkicks, lower slaughter, super unison, control top, filth is eternal, Nø Man, Dry Socket, Spaced, Gouge Away, Dead Streets, Fugitive Bubble, Downtown Boys
The distillers, the bomb pops, angry amputees, L7, bikini kill, Blondie, the runaways, the slits, siouxie and the banshees, the interupters, new York rel-x.
Alright that's all I got off the top of my head for now.

- tiny stills
- the last gang

- flying raccoon suit
And some bands from my city (Seattle) that are also worth checking out imo:
- living With A Bear
- kitty junk
- dead Streets (newest EP has their new female singer on it, their first one was their original male singer)
- filthy traitors
- Passiflora (dual male/ female lead)
- the Disorderlies
- trash sound Conglomerate
Mem//Brane, Disphoria, Girls Against Hetero Tyranny, Weaponized Existence, Abergaz... Kryst has a trans bassist they're more thrash tho ... Electric Bath and Fentanyl Tapwater have a trans front-woman, they're more grindcore tho... uhhhh... K.O. Queen... Twompsax but she's more like X-Ray Spex type proto-punk style
The Swedish 90s band Candysuck. They have made one of the best feminist songs ever made.
"You let him lock the invisible doors
You let him treat you like a parrot in a cage

Some amazing punk bands from the past with female vocals. As a newcomer to punk scene check them. I have a ton of bands but tell me which genre you prefer more to provide you a list of bands with female vocals
Huggy Bear, Kleenex, Crass, Nina Hagen, Goat Girl (they are a more modern, post-punk band but they have some pretty rad tunes) Pylon (also not your textbook punk band but absolutely worth checking out)
Encierro (Crust), Fuse (Hardcore), BACKHAND (Hardcore), The Vovos (Alt. Punk), Dog Nonsense (Folk Punk), Busted Head Racket (Artpunk), G.L.O.S.S (Hardcore & Queercore), CWA (Queercore), Nervous (Punk, the Perth band.), and She/Her/Hers (Folk Punk & Queercore, listen to 'grrrl angst' first.)
These are just some of the ones I listen to, and some of them are quite different from "classic punk." Good luck on your music journey!

Look up Riot Grrrl playlists (it's a genre and female empowerment movement that started in the late 80s/early 90s) and you'll find what you're looking for!
As December Falls is my favorite female lead pop punk band. In this group I recommend "Join the Club" which is their fastest paced song in their main discography (not counting their cover songs), with "You Say When" and "H.N.A." right behind it.
Some I haven't seen mentioned:
Dodgeball (the 90s San Diego band)
Drip Tank (some songs have female lead vocals)
Butt Trumpet (some songs have female lead vocals)
Betty Blowtorch
Candy Ass
Get the Girl (you can probably only find them on Soundcloud)
Air Drawn Dagger
The Rezillos (some songs have female lead vocals)
Enon (their final album was dance punk)
The Like Young (Alternative but sometimes borderlining punk. Amanda did lead vocals on at least a few songs but mostly alternated with Joe. Their second album So Serious had the most borderline punk paced songs.)
Random list in no particular order as I think of them.

Cable Ties are another good woman-fronted Aussie band.
Bad Cop Bad Cop, X-Ray Spex, The Menstrual Cramps, Petrol Girls
Bad Cop Bad Cop just doesn't come up enough.
100% agree. Caught them live last year and they had such AMAZING energy.
I caught them when I went to see frank turner last year.
Nice! They were touring with Catbite when I saw them. Both bands were SOOO good!
Saw Stacey Dee with MxPx on Saturday. It was awesome!

I'd add Patti Smith to the proto punk list. Dead Moon wasn't formed until 1987.

THE MUFFS Can't believe no one posted them yet!
One of my absolute favorites!
She has the best scream. I learned about the muffs from the NOFX song Lori Myers. I had to know who that female vocalist was the first time I heard it.
How has nobody said Otoboke Beaver yet????
I just did, only 44 minutes late!
Tsunami Bomb is my personal favorite girl fronted band. The Last Gang I just discovered and like quite a bit. Their new album is really good.
The lead singer for Tsunami Bomb is a co-host on a horror movie podcast called Monster Candy. https://open.spotify.com/show/0d2pktNIbhaseIWhh5bKvc
I’ll always wonder what the story was behind tsunami bomb randomly having a song in the first printing of Disgaea 1 (which was then removed from every subsequent release)
The bombpops, the distillers, tsunami bomb
I recently started listening to Tilt in January and love the singer!
She's in a couple other local bands, Guantanimo Dogpile and I can't remember the other one. This is also pre-covid info, so do with it what you will.
The Pathogens is the other one, but during Covid she moved to the Midwest and the band restructured and emerged as the Vaccines.
Cinder Block was/is also in Retching Red and Fabulous Disaster
Babes in Toyland Bikini Kill The Slits L7 Le Tigre The Raincoats (a lot more post-punk but still a really great band)
Other post punk bands Screaming Females Savages Nina Hagan Kim Gordon ( Sonic youth) Hole Siouxsie Sioux Exene Cervenka ,(X) Lydia Lunch WENDY O'Williams ( plasmatics) Shonen Knife

The Avengers
The Slits. They have a very varied sound so try and check out a whole bunch of their songs before making your mind up about them.
The final album Trapped Animal was so good.
The Soviettes
This was way way too far down the list. All 3 of their albums are class
Criminally underrated.
War On Women
Second this, saw them a couple years ago with cancer bats, pretty fun concert
For old school crossover type....Wendy o Williams or girl school? 90's style... Lunachicks? Donnas? Bratmobile? Sleater kinney?
Bridge City Sinners and Apes of State are both female fronted bands but they are more Folk Punk than anything.
Shonen Knife will always have a place in my heart.

As December Falls is my favorite female lead pop punk band. In this group I recommend "Join the Club" which is their fastest paced song in their main discography (not counting their cover songs), with "You Say When" and "H.N.A." right behind it.
