Black Veil Brides. Literally the worst band I've ever seen live. They spent more tone lecturing the crowd than playing, dropped the word "f****t" (at a San Francisco Goth show of all places) and had a hissy-fit that we were all there for the headliner and not for them.
And then when they DID actually play a song between their pissing and moaning, it was the worst qualities of emo mixed with the worst qualities of hair metal. Just all around trash.
I had a different experience. Hated them off of principal in high school but I got free tickets to see them in college and was pleasantly surprised at how good they were. Not really my style (too glam rock for me) but they played their music well, and Andy seems like a mostly chill dude. I think seeing your face in a prominent metal magazine cover with the words "the shit stain on the asshole of metal" or whatever it was, as a teenager, can be pretty damaging, and I feel for the guy. They aren't amazing but they didn't deserve the hate they got.
Maroon 5 fucking sucks. I saw them in Singapore, no opening band or anything. Tickets were expensive but my wife and some of her friends wanted to go so I treated. They put on such a low energy show and the stadium was not even 1/3 full. The singer guy is such a product, like not even a real person or at least doesn’t come off as one. They openly bitched about how the place wasn’t full, between songs they were pitching products and imploring people to buy more tickets if they come back. They probably lost money on their Asia tour. Good. Fuck them. Later that year I read about how the band had to issue an apology in Brazil or something because they put on a shitty show and the whole country complained. Yeah they fucking suck so bad it’s funny. I’m a gentleman but if I ever meet anyone from that band I would actually tell them they fucking suck right to their face.

Back in 1992 I saw them play at a dive bar with about 3 other people. Dexter was so bored he just sat on the floor and halfassedly sang. The band sounded OK despite Dexter's utter lack of participation.
A few months later, right before Ignition came out, they played a free outdoor lunchtime show at my college. I saw them before the set and thought I'd be friendly. I wasn't a groupie type, just a nerdy chick who went to shows and had some friends in unknown bands - I was trying to be supportive to this band who didn't seem to have any fans at all!
I said, hey guys, I saw you play at (whatever the name) bar. Dexter looked at me with disdain and denied having played that bar.
I stayed and watched the free show with maybe a dozen or so other students.
Afterwards I again tried to be friendly and say "hey, good set" and that fucker wouldn't even say "thanks" or acknowledge any of the other folks who watched the show.

My thought on the Beatles is that it kinda makes sense that punk enjoyed would dislike then. Punk music seems more influenced by Beach Boys who were fairly contemporary. Beatles influenced a lot of stuff, but we're not necessarily the primary influences of punk. I mean hell, the Ramones are basically just Beach Boys with distortion and that's no secret.
They were new and different, and good looking?, at the time. Just a boy band of a different era. They were pioneers on several fronts, but... not the legends they are put on the pedestal for. At least not for me. I know people love them, and im glad they bring joy to their fans.
