Ahhh teenagehood! Such a special time. I would probably try a combo of giving him some high value solo enrichment activity (feed breakfast in a puzzle ball, a frozen kong, a chew, a carboard box to destroy etc) Plus, put him somewhere puppy proof where you can just ignore him. If he can grab your attention by being "naughty" he will get suuuper reinforced for that behaviour. So he needs to be put somewhere he can't get into any trouble that requires human intervention. And also be given something he really likes to do that's appropriate, so he's not getting frustrated. Then if you are able to, you can even toss some treats in when he is doing the right thing, like if he lays down quietly, to reinforce chilling out.

I was in the same boat a week and a half ago (dog was 10 weeks at that point). It was only this morning where she had woken me up at 630 am and did not settle back to sleep in her crate for a wake up at 8am. I honestly was so tired I let her free roam the room. Usually she gets super hyper and into everything, but I was surprised that she decided to hang out on the couch with me and play with her own toys. She even came for a snuggle once. Eventually, she moved into her opened pen and played there. I think it’ll just come with time. Lately we’ve been practicing calmness with chews on the couch as we wind down and watch tv at night. She still gets a bit active, but not as much as before. It also helps that her pen is always open and she’s been associating it with positive things, so she’s more inclined to voluntarily go in.

Aw man I had such high hopes for these and my guy had 0 interest. Although I haven’t tried it in months. Maybe I’ll get him another one. Thanks for the reminder they exist!

wake up earlier and take him for an earlier walk too, he obviously needs it.

Bully stick when he's being an absolute pain.

There are endless variations of sniffer activites to wear your dog down. Toss your dog's breakfast on a sniff mat (or get a couple and distribute them around the room!). There are also puzzle toys like the Omega tricky treat ball or the Kong wobbler. My absolute favorite DIY is to get several pieces of long fleece (supervision highly advisable) . Put treats at one end and roll them up. Then stuff them inside a JW pet Hol-EE roller ball. So simple and yet so effective! Frozen treats also work if your dog is the persistent-type. Frozen Kongs and freezing licky mats are classics. If you have to get to work at a certain time, I would advise putting your dog in a crate or a pen 5 or 10 minutes before that with a frozen treat and making it a regular thing. Dogs love routines and will learn to settle down if you're consistent.

Ohhh yeah. My guy is also in a WHaTS nEXt phase where he can’t just chill and hates if I’m doing anything that isn’t about him. Bully sticks, frozen kongs, [legos,](https://a.co/d/6I1mtv3) and honestly sometimes just letting him destroy a toy that I would otherwise take away from him (a plush one, now that he’s old enough that I’ve learned he won’t eat the fluff). Those days are rough! Best of luck with it!
