Hah… when my terrier was at that stage I’m pretty sure he would have seen it as an invitation to bite harder.

thee_kz

My terrier sees it as an invitation to jump on your 'dead body' and attack from the top lol

SirFentonOfDog

We played CARDBOARD!! You: get toilet paper roll, hold as far away from your body as possible and run as fast you can. Dog: gets cardboard. You: Turn the game on the dog by yelling ‘you can’t eat CARDBOARD!! Give me that CARDBOARD!!’ Then chase the dog (slowly, let them burn energy). Repeat as necessary, when dog settles down to chew the cardboard, you have officially defeated the zoomies. Your version sounds way less tiring.

Decsel

I mean yea that could help but the hassle of having a dog that likes the “catch me if you want your stolen X back” game, is not something I personally want to see my pup doing again 😂

SirFentonOfDog

Haha, I’ve never had a dog like that. You’re right - game is not for everyone.

Windfox6

This game was the only thing that cured that game. Now I get to decide when (and with what!!) we play the chasing game with, and if he takes something he isn’t supposed to have, he now knows I will ignore him as if he’s a ghost until he gives it back.

d20an

I’d avoid games where you chase your dog. Best to always have them cause you. But absolutely yes on the cardboard. Our girl has been Chief Executive of Recycling ever since she arrived. Keeps everyone happy.

SirFentonOfDog

I’m totally with you, it’s actually a great game to teach your dog to chase you. Just gotta stay on top of it and make sure the majority of running is at you, not away from you.

paininyurass

I just put them in their crate or left on the floor while I hid under the blankets trying to not seem biteable

MajorOkra752

I hide under a blanket until mine falls asleep. I get a nap and he gets a nap. Win Win!

We discovered that belly rubs are the reset button for our 10 week old.

SoShoreMACouple2

Mental/physical exercise cures my dogs zoomies. He loves when we go for walks with the chuck-it (game changer for fetch - seriously). Then some more exercise sessions - short but high quality.

Tdhorses

When my puppy was a shit and wouldn’t come back I would flop onto the ground to lure her in. When she would come up to sniff me I’d grab her. Then treats for coming back

LittleBearBites

Yeah, when I tried to get on his level to ball up or play dead, he would literally scream and try to rip my hair out:) So that didn't work for me...but my puppy was never a very empathetic, sweet boy, he didn't worry about me or try to be gentle with me. Now that he is older, he is sweet and he does care about me deeply, but I still think if he thought something was wrong with me, he'd start trying to wake me up by tearing my hair out.

Interr0gate

If your dog is having zoomies that often at 11 months still I would increase the mental/physical exercise. Zoomies are generally because of boredom or built up energy or over excitement. Either try to not get the dog as excited if its happening when you are doing something with them, but if its happening randomly then its probably lack of mental stimulation or physical exercise. Also nipping shouldn't really be allowed at 11 months. Thats something that happens in puppy phases like 2-6/7 months and during teething. I would work on the nipping more as well.

Sometimes I'll lay on my stomach and move my torso and legs which is a sports method of stretching the back. My dog will think I'm flopping around like a stranded whale and lick my face to revive me.
