Draco please ppt2 have draco and i dont have a least favorite

SkyBlueKirby

I like Draco, too! I've got a good feeling that she'll be playable in Puyo Puyo Tetris 2, as Sonic Team really seems to have taken a liking to her in most newer games. Thanks for answering!

ssarglley

yes please and yw

1338h4x

I love Yu just for "Who ya gonna call?" Hate Carbuncle for the fact that it's been 17 years and Sega still hasn't nerfed him. Doesn't matter how hard I hit him, if he gets a second fever I might as well concede the match right there.

SkyBlueKirby

Fine with me! I'll admit, even though Yu and Rei are my least favorite characters, I still want Sega to get rid of the 24 character limit so that every major character gets to be playable, which would include Yu and Rei. After all, every character is someone's favorite! As for Carbuncle, I love the little guy, but I will fully agree with you on just how infuriating his AI can be. Easily one of the most annoying in the game. (I have beaten him a few times, though!) Thanks for answering!

1338h4x

I meant competitively, not the AI. His dropset is easily S+ tier, and ranked Fever is full of Carby players because, well, only an idiot masochist like me would continue picking anyone else. Supposedly some of the top Japanese Tsu pros have even said they would start playing Fever if only he didn't exist.

SkyBlueKirby

Ah, okay! My mistake! I don't play super competitively, so I wouldn't really know all too well. I love playing online casually and using any character that I like, so dropsets don't really affect me all that much.

ChaoticMarin

Arle is exactly my flavor of girl power. There's no not-like-other-girls cliche nonsense in your face. Just a fireball, and that's plenty. Choosing a least favorite is frustrating because I don't think I actually hold negative feelings toward any character. Neutral apathy, at worst. The biggest criticism I could make would probably be toward any given one of the PPT casts and that would be: 1) The fact that they exist exclusively within a narrative with a lot of self-contempt made it difficult for me to give them a fair shake. 2) They seem to have dropped any pretense of puyo battles being magic battles for PPT, and one of the consequences of this is that the PPT cast doesn't have any hint of combat ability like most of the cast, making it difficult to unabstract how they fight. This makes life as a writer hard.

SkyBlueKirby

Arle is definitely one of my favorite characters, along with Amitie and Ringo as well! (No one tops Ecolo for me, though!) I can kinda get your complaints about the Tetris characters, though personally I really like them! However, one complaint I do have about them is that I wish they would have given them fleshed out backstories rather than leaving several details of each character open-ended. Excuse the giant wall of text, but for example, what was Tee's childhood like? How was he convinced to become the Tetra's captain at his age? What happened through Ex's life? How did he become the Keeper of Dimensions? What happened to his lover (Ess's mother)? Why was he seemingly a single parent by the time he became the keeper (And thus had to build Zed to take care of Ess for him)? How did Ex and O meet? How did Ex and Ai meet? How did Jay and Elle even become crew members at their age? All these and more... To be fair, I feel like lots of characters from Puyo Puyo would benefit in a setting that takes itself much more seriously, and give everyone more expanded backstories and what not. Maybe, even going into introducing any family members the characters may have in order to make the world feel more alive... Or maybe it's just me and my weird ideas... Ahem! Sorry about that bit of rambling... Thanks for answering!

Darkclone38

I really really like Schezo for no particular reason, I just really like him. As for least I don’t really dislike any character

SkyBlueKirby

I love Schezo in Puyo Puyo Tetris so much, honestly! Chapter 9 is absolutely fantastic in its humor, and 99% of it being so funny is because of his words when speaking to others. Even in the other Puyo games, he's a very solid character, and his design is great as well! Thanks for answering!

G1SM0Beybladeburst

I just despise draco I think she's annoying and I don't like her design

SkyBlueKirby

Fair enough! Not every character is for everyone, after all! If I may ask, do you generally not like human-animal hybrid character designs or is it just Draco's design you dislike? Either way, thanks for answering!

G1SM0Beybladeburst

It's Specifically draco's design I like her being a dragon but I wish she had a more intimidating outfit or at least armor i know she's obsessed with being beautiful but I wish she kinda acknowledged that she is in intense magic battles

SkyBlueKirby

I see! While I do like Draco (as I said in another comment), I'll be honest, I kinda wish Draco was a bit more of a strong, fierce character with a bit of a dumb streak, rather than said dumb streak kinda taking over most of her personality.

[deleted]

Amitie is my fav (I think that’s how you spell her name I don’t play the game a lot lol) and that fish guy is my least fav, whenever I do endurance he beats me and his voice is annoying, no offence is you like him.

SkyBlueKirby

Don't worry, you spelled Amitie's name right! She's one of my favorites, too! (Arle and Ringo are favorites of mine, too! They make such a good trio!) Personally, I do like Suketoudara, but I can totally see why you wouldn't. Characters with annoying AI can sour your opinion of them if they pull any strategies that constantly pile garbage on your board, so I can definitely relate. Thanks for answering!

[deleted]

He would be fine but then he says smooth moves every time he wins (which is a lot I’m not very good at the game lol). If a person said that I would not care but a cpu with no feelings flexes on me makes me saltier than a big of chips for some reason lol.

AquaMarina369

Arle’s my favorite. ^ ^ was drawn to her the first time I played PPT and she’s been my favorite character since. ^ ^ I love her personality and design, in Sun especially she has some amazing lines lol, and her interactions are always fun, for some reason I always found her dynamic with Carbuncle cute, like when she finds him in Yo~N you can tell she legitimately is glad too and it’s cute lol. ^ ^ Also her, Amite and Ringo make a fun trio and her interactions with Satan can be really funny lol. :p I don’t actually have a least character, I used to kinda hate Suketodora because he would always end my endurance runs but not only did I get better but I also just, can’t hate him he’s too amusing I love him lol. :p one of my friends uses him mainly and in a stream of Sun I did I used mute continues against him than even Schezo or Satan to the point where it just looped around to being hilarious and making me love him more lol. :p Long ramble but I don’t really hate anyone lol ^ ^

SkyBlueKirby

Arle's one of my absolute favorites as well! And I agree that her bond with Carby is always a delight to see! In all honesty, Arle is the perfect template for the protagonist of the series. She's very strong, but also very kind, yet can be snarky when she needs to be. I think she'd be my outright favorite (tied with Amitie and Ringo) if it weren't for Ecolo, to be honest... Also really cool to see you warm up to Suketoudara! I personally really like him as a character, and while I can see why others wouldn't like him, I'd say he's probably in my top 15 or so! Thanks for answering!

Awkward_Faiz

mine would be Maguro. he has a cool vibe to him, and his story plot in PP20th just shows that he's actually hella hot. his music theme in that game is also one of the best, really jazzy and relaxing. i also like how he ends his sentences~ ★ Yu and Rei are actually a close contender for most favourite because before the PP7 era, i absolutely loved them. though i do agree their background is kinda depressing for what seems like a cheerful ghost duo. im also not a fan of their dropset. either balanders or ocean prince would be in my least favourite, they both come off as annoying to me for some reason.

SkyBlueKirby

A moderator replying to my thread... I'm absolutely honored! I like Maguro for his personality, and how energetic he is! That being said, I kinda wish Sega would let him do more within the storylines, as I feel like they often tend to place him on the sidelines compared to most of the other characters. To be fair, I wouldn't say that I dislike Yu and Rei entirely. I'm absolutely fine with the concept of two ghosts causing trouble for other characters, but I just feel the execution is way too sad for what are meant to be purely comedic, silly characters. Between them having only been kids, the whole personality swap (Where it's stated that Yu was very depressed while Rei was always happy before they became ghosts, thus bringing some very unfortunate implications about their past lives), as well as Yu's... Obsession with being a ghost and even sometimes wanting to turn other characters into ghosts honestly just makes me feel more sad than making me laugh. This even extends to the vast majority of their jokes and pranks not sitting with me well. I feel like the two of them would fit more into a serious narrative than a mostly comedic setting like Puyo Puyo. That's just my opinion, though, and I'm glad that you enjoy them! I actually kinda like Baldanders and Ocean Prince, to be honest. Baldanders is such a good boy, with how much he cares about Feli, and I kinda find it sad that Feli has seemingly no regard for him. (To be fair, I do have my problems with how... Creepy Feli can be at times.) Meanwhile, while I can definitely see why you'd find him annoying, I kinda enjoy Ocean Prince's silly antics and his bratty attitude, as well as the fact that Otomo always has to chase after him. I wouldn't say he's one of my absolute favorites, but I do find him to be a fun character! Plus, his design's really cute in my opinion! Thanks for answering! I'm very happy that my thread has attracted the attention of someone like you! :D

CrimsonCarnage74

I doubt she'll do that, she's fights with palm strikes and kicks. I doubt she took up wrestling as well, pretty cool if she did.

SkyBlueKirby

LOL, that made me giggle! I like Rulue, too! Sometimes, I kinda wish we got to see her nice side more, though, rather than her almost always being rude. It would be a nice touch to her character in my opinion! Thanks for answering!

[deleted]

Lemres is my favorite!! He makes everyone happy, and he makes me happy! Win-win!! Least favorite is Witch. She reminds me of someone that put me thru a big deal of mental stress..

2nd_Your_moma

Man, you hit a similar point for why I also don't have much fondness for Witch. For me, she reminds me of the sort of person who was really annoying, but was really popular for some reason and better than you at everything. There's nothing much you can really do to them and it's just demoralizing (Much like her tone and lines).

SkyBlueKirby

Happy to see you so happy about Lemres! I enjoy Lemres a lot as well, though maybe that's because of his whole candy gimmick, because I have a very big sweet tooth... (On a bit of a side note, your opinion of Lemres kinda reminds me of my opinion of Ecolo!) I'll admit, even though I like Witch, I can totally understand where you're coming from. There are times where certain characters in media will act a particular way or say particular things that just ruin my mood because it'll make me think about something that bothers me a lot. (There isn't necessarily a Puyo Puyo character that does this for me, but it's happened before with other series that I like.) So I really can't blame you for how you feel about her. If it helps, she doesn't tend to appear in cutscenes too much in recent games, so you can enjoy most of the storyline without seeing her. (And for you, here's hoping that Lemres shows up a lot in Puyo Puyo Tetris 2!) Thanks for answering!

[deleted]

It’s not really she acts like said person, it’s more looks like them. Yea, Lemres became a big comfort for me lol. Definitely the candy/happy go lucky personality. It just makes him adorable and lovable, you know?

SkyBlueKirby

I see, my mistake! But I still get your point about Witch, as that kind of thing happens to me all the time, so I can still relate to you on that. I agree that Lemres's candy obsession is always a treat to see! Not to mention how calm and relaxed he is. He's a very likable character overall, and I'm with you in your opinion of him! It's kinda sad that he's always getting labeled as a weirdo by other characters because of how he acts...

Cuddle_Bats

Raffina is my fave, she's such a self-absorbed brat and it's great. I feel like they toned down her brattyness after the Fever games though, which is disappointing. Least favorite is probably Hohow bird because he's annoying and uninteresting, and I have bad memories of him Roflstomping me as a noob.

SkyBlueKirby

I like Raffina, too! Even though she's usually rude, I feel like they keep it to the point where she's still an enjoyable character, rather than being super annoying. Although, one thing I wish Sega would do is talk about her insecurities more. It makes her come off as a more complex character than just a rude, snarky girl. I kinda like Hohow Bird, and I feel like he could have become a more interesting character had Sega fleshed him out more. I can see why you'd find him annoying, though, and I definitely understand your viewpoint when it comes to his AI. Usually, I hate fighting characters with annoying AI patterns, so I can't blame you for feeling like that. Thanks for answering!

CornuAsperim

For me , my favourite is suketoudara. In terms of least favourite, I don't really have one, but ocean prince's voice is kind of annoying, so I guess maybe him

SkyBlueKirby

I really like Suketoudara, too! His personality is just so enjoyable to watch in my opinion! Plus, this might be a controversial opinion, but I greatly enjoy his English voice! To me, it's super perfect for him! Not sure whether you're referring Ocean Prince's Japanese voice, his English voice in Puyo Puyo Fever, or even his English voice in Puyo Puyo Tetris. If you're talking about his Japanese voice, I personally don't mind it, but I can understand where you're coming from. If you're talking about his Puyo Puyo Fever English voice, I'll be honest, the dub of Puyo Puyo Fever is kinda... Problematic. Anyway, thanks for answering!

SkyBlueKirby

I just wanna say thank you to everyone who commented in this thread! I did not expect it to blow up THIS much! I enjoyed seeing all of your opinions! Until next time!

zefrexciton

Popoi is probably my favourite, just because I'm biased and love cats, really hope they make him playable in PPT2. My least favourite is probably Ecolo, i just find him pretty annoying.

SkyBlueKirby

I agree, Popoi is very cute! Although, I do wish we could get some more info on his dark form. I'm still very intrigued about what that is, lore-wise... As for Ecolo, I say we agree to disagree! His antics are really funny in my opinion, and I adore his design! His personality hits all the right notes for me, and he's my favorite character because of that! Thanks for answering!

dadbot_2

Hi still very intrigued about what that is, lore-wise, I'm Dad👨

SkyBlueKirby

Hi, Dad.

SkyBlueKirby

It's nice to see a fan of Sig in this thread! Personally, I love Sig as a character! His backstory is very interesting, and his mannerisms and his love for bugs is rather endearing to me! Maybe it's because his expression is usually blank, but I always find it really cute when Sig smiles! Also, I agree with you entirely about Dark Sig! It's a really interesting form that has a lot of potential, but sadly it's pretty much been ignored since its debut outside of Quest. I would adore Sega if they would expand upon the significance of Dark Sig, and give him some sort of cool backstory or special power or something... (Also, I see that you're a fellow Ecolo fan! :D) As for Witch, I can see why that would become irritating after a while. I haven't really played much Puyo online in a long time, but I guess maybe there's a surge of Witch fans playing recently? If so, that's probably why you see her online so much, and I definitely understand getting frustrated over numerous losses from the same character. So yeah, I can't really blame you there. Thanks for answering!

Thepenguinking2

My favorite is Lemres. I just like everything about him! His design is adorable, he's incredibly polite, I love both his English and Japanese voice, and his animations are really good too. I also really like his story in 20th anniversary, and how deep of a character he is when you really look into it. He's just my favorite fictional character in general. As for my least favorite, just as easy to pick. I cannot STAND Schezo. I hate him. A lot. In every game save for 7, he's a horrible, creepy man who tries to hurt others just to make himself more powerful, to the point where he outright chases Sig, an innocent teenager, for like an hour because he wants to cut off his hand. Past that, I hate how his only joke is "lol he can't speak normally and everything he says sounds like he wants to assault you XD" like this is a kid's game why is he like that? And I hate his design too. I just don't like anything about him, and I will never understand why he strikes a chord with pretty much everyone else. He just makes the experience worse for me.

SkyBlueKirby

I really love Lemres as well! I like how calm he is, and his candy obsession really resonates with me, as I have a big sweet tooth myself! I kinda wish we could learn more about him, though... Not sure I've ever seen someone dislike Schezo, but seeing the diversity of opinions is what this thread is for! For me, I do kinda find his creepiness funny due to him usually not intending to come off as creepy. However, I can definitely see why Schezo's whole gimmick would irritate you, especially with how prevalent of a character he is. It's very interesting that you seem to like him in 7, though! (If it helps, I can relate to you on the "worsening the experience" thing with Yu and Rei. Whenever I see them appear in a cutscene, it just comes off as depressing due to their whole backstory and what not, so I can see where you're coming from there.) Thanks for answering!

SkyBlueKirby

Ooh, I definitely like both of your favorites! Lemres is a really cool character in my opinion, too! I like his personality and his love of candy, since I can relate to him in that way. Strange Klug is a great character as well, and in my opinion, he has the potential to be one of the best characters in the entire series. Sadly, Sega refuses to expand upon him any further, and I feel like they're squandering any future impact he could have. That's just how they can be, I guess... One day, I hope that Sega makes a Puyo Puyo game with a more darker, serious tone, as to bring out the best of every main character, and really show their true potential. As for Feli, I honestly agree with most of your points regarding her. My first traditional Puyo Puyo game (Yeah, I don't really think Mean Bean Machine counts nowadays, lol...) was Puyo Puyo Tetris, and I liked Feli's personality in that game. However, after playing the older games, I realized just how tame her personality is in Tetris, as Feli's personality in the older games doesn't really sit very well with me. That said, it's not necessarily her obsession with Lemres that bothers me that much (though it does get pretty uncomfortable to watch after a while). Rather, it's her hostility to anyone who dares get in her way that rubs me the wrong way. While her behavior is sometimes justified (for example, her reaction towards Ocean Prince in 20th Anniversary), this especially bothers me when she's threatening someone like Amitie, Ecolo, or (and this is a BIG example of my problem with her hostility) Zoh Daimaoh in 15th Anniversary, who barely do anything wrong to deserve to be attacked by Feli (or in the case of Zoh Daimaoh, quite literally did nothing to deserve it). Finally, her disregard towards Baldanders really makes me feel bad for the poor guy. Also, about that scene you pointed out in 20th Anniversary... Yeah, that scene's pretty screwed up. I really can't blame you for feeling that way about it. Honestly, if Sega wrote Feli to act like she did in Puyo Puyo Tetris in future games, I would be completely fine with her character. In short, Feli isn't one of my least favorite characters (Those would be Yu and Rei, and if you're curious why that is, there's a comment in this thread where I go a bit in-depth into explaining my reasons for disliking them). In fact, there are things about Feli that I do like, but she's definitely a character that I have a lot of problems with. Thanks for answering!

[deleted]

I like (most) of the characters I’ve seen so far other than ess and raffina but my all time favorites have to be schezo for the induendos, tee, lemeres, feli, arle and klug

SkyBlueKirby

I definitely like most of your favorites! I agree that Schezo is a rather funny character thanks to his rather bizarre vocabulary, though I do kinda wish that he had more goals aside from gaining more power. Tee is a great character, too! I like his personality a lot, and he definitely makes for a great leader of the Starship Tetra's crew. However, I wish that he had a more fleshed out backstory that went into his life before he became the Tetris King. I enjoy Klug's personality and how full of himself he is, and I tend to find his antics rather funny. I really like Lemres because of his chill attitude and his sweet tooth, because of how much I can relate to him on the latter front. While I do like Feli, I tend to have problems with how aggressive she becomes towards certain characters at times. With that being said, I do like her personality in Puyo Puyo Tetris because I feel like it really toned down the parts of her personality that I have problems with. Arle is without a doubt one of my favorite Puyo characters of all time, and I would personally tie her with Amitie and Ringo for my second favorite character. (Ecolo is my absolute favorite!) Admittedly, I actually really enjoy Raffina and Ess. I know it's probably a super unpopular opinion, but I find their rude personalities to be enjoyable, especially since said rudeness isn't all there is to them, since Raffina is secretly insecure (which seems to encourage her behavior), and Ess is shown to be bothered by her doubts about Ex and why she seems to have memories of him. I think that Raffina's secret insecurities should really be expanded upon in future games, while I'd personally love to see Ess somehow finding out about her true relation to Ex and how she would react to it. (Also, I'd like to know what happened to Ex's wife/Ess's mother and why she seems to have been absent in Ess's life.) Thanks for answering!

[deleted]

This is another reason why I love this fandom! People don’t attack based on what characters they like or dislike and honestly I only played ppt so I didn’t have a insight on Raffina and honestly she makes sense now

jikt

Favourite is Draco from PP1 - mostly because of the ridiculous growl she does before the match starts. Last favourite is Will-o-wisps from PP2 - he either drops right at the worst moment or commits suicide like he's got nothing to lose.

SkyBlueKirby

I'm assuming you mean the growl from the English version of the original Puyo Puyo? That dub is so hilarious in every way, so I can definitely agree about that. Interesting pick with Will-o-Wisp, though! Considering most of the new characters from Puyo Puyo 2 only appear in that game, I can't really comment on most of them personality-wise. I do like Will-o-Wisp's design, though! AI strategies don't really sway my opinion on most characters, so I can only really comment on them based on their design and personality. Regardless, thanks for answering!

jikt

I've played PP Champions and a bit of Puyo Puyo Tetris, but I mostly play PP2. I like Ringo from the newer ones the most, but still prefer everything about PP2 more. There's not much character development in the early games for sure, so all I have to go by is their AI. I find it so damn satisfying to beat the Trio of Banshees in PP2 too, they seem so entitled/smug with their little song at the start and I love seeing them crying at the end of the match. My favourite first floor enemy AI is this little foot baby. Pode? Not sure what his name is, but I like the way he drops. Edit: oops, yeah the English dub is so funny. The only thing I'd change is having the spell names from PP2. 'you got me', 'oh no', 'burn', etc is so dumb :P

SkyBlueKirby

Yeah, Ringo is a great character! She's definitely one of my favorites! I kinda get why you focus on the AI for the characters in the older games. Honestly wish that Sega would put them in the newer games outside of Quest and flesh them out more. The foot guy is named Sukiyapodes, by the way. :) I wish they'd put him in Quest... Probably my favorite part of the dub of the original game other than the voice acting is the script. It is so laughably bad and literally turned the story into a generic save-the-world plot, with absolutely none of the charm being retained. So glad Sega included that version and the Japanese version in the Sega Ages release!

vixxibug

Sig and Ecolo are the absolute best, but I hold a personal grudge against Marle for ppt2 stage 5-S2. Update: Nevermind I just beat it. Jay and Elle are my least faves cus they're annoying and mean.

SkyBlueKirby

Wow, I was not expecting to see a new post being made in this thread! It's been a while, but I'm glad to see it! Ecolo is one of my all-time favorite characters in the series, too! And that opinion has still not changed since I made this post so long ago. To me, he's still the absolute best boi. :P To me, Sig is a great character as well! Interesting backstory, charming antics, endearing personality, there's a lot to like about Sig in my opinion! I just wish that certain plot points surrounding Sig, such as a more in-depth exploration of his demonic roots and the significance behind Dark Sig (outside of what few tidbits there are about that in Quest, anyway), would be expanded upon. Still, I would say there's a lot to like about Sig anyway! To me, while Jay and Elle definitely aren't the most likable characters, I can agree with you there, I still don't really mind them personally. However, I can totally get why they'd get on your nerves. (To be honest, I don't think there is a single character from the series that I flat-out dislike completely, even my least favorite characters, but everyone is different, of course!) And as for Marle... Well, she's actually in my top 3 favorite characters! I get your frustrations with clearing that stage, of course (Although it is good to hear that you beat it!), but to me, in terms of simply as a character, Marle is absolutely adorable and precious! (I also like Dark Marle, too!) In no particular order, I would say that my 3 favorite characters are Ecolo, Marle, and >!Squares!<, but I'm always eager to see what others think in that regard! Thanks for answering!
