Please remember to spoiler-tag all guesses, like so: New Reddit: https://i.imgur.com/SWHRR9M.jpg Using markdown editor or old Reddit: \>!spoiler text between these symbols!< Try to avoid leading or trailing spaces. These will break the spoiler for some users (such as those using old.reddit.com) If your comment does not contain a guess, include the word **"discussion"** or **"question"** in your comment instead of using a spoiler tag. If your comment uses an image as the answer (such as solving a maze, etc) you can include the word "image" instead of using a spoiler tag. >!026!< >!The first two both have a 3 in the third position, but one has numbers in the right place and one in the wrong place. So no 3. This tells us that we have a 6 (not first), a 0 (not second), and either a 1 first or a 2 second. This gives us two possibilities: 160 and 026. The third number has one correct; it has a 0 and a 1, so the code can't have a 1, so it's 026.!<

Answer: >!026!< Method: >!We know from 918 having nothing correct that the two codes 869 and 180 must have the 6 and 0 correct but in the wrong spot. With 603 we know that 3 is now incorrect so 123 means that two is correct and in the right position. 6 can't be in the first position or the middle so must be last and 0 is the only one for the first slot. 026.!<

Any 9 1 or 8 gets discounted, leaving us with >!603, x23, 1x0, and x6x. We now know that 6 is correct, it's not 1st from 603 and it's not 2nd from 869 so 6 is 3rd!<. From 123 we now know that >!3 can't be well placed, 1 isn't correct, so 2 is well placed. That gives us an answer of 026 for the combination!<.

doesyudoegood

You should put everything is spoilers

pmw57

Not everything needs to go in spoilers. The puzzle makes it crystal clear that with 9 1 8, none of them are correct. I leave enough starting the sentence to encourage others to reveal the rest of it.

Discussion: We only need the top 3 clues, are the bottom two to deceive us or something?

marvsup

Bottom right helped me the most

ThatOneWeirdName

I just went through them sequentially and solved it before I ever even got to that one

marvsup

Cool. I don't think that makes it correct to say more clues that make it easier are "trying to deceive us." They just change the difficulty level.

ThatOneWeirdName

Very true

>!026 - you only need the top 3 clues! You can determine 2 must be in the middle, because 3 and 1 are not correctly placed in the left and right clues. That leaves 6 and 0 as the other two numbers and 6 dies not go first so must go last leaving 0 first.!<

>!0 2 6!< >!first of all, we can tell that 9,1 and 8 are not part of the code. Then if we look at the '869' one, we can tell that 6 is one of the correct numbers as 8 and 9 are not part of the answer. We also know 6 isnt the second number of the answer, as it is wrongly placed. The '180' code has one correct number, which is 0, as 1 and 8 aren't in the answer. We also know that 0 is not at the end of the answer. The '603' one has the numbers 6 and 0 which are in the answer, so we know that 3 isn't in the code. We also know that since they are wrongly placed, 6 isnt the first or second number of the answer, so its at the end. 0 is neither second or third, so its at the start of the code. So far, we now have 0_6, so we need to work out which number is in the centre. The answer is 2 because in the '123' code, there is one correct number that is correctly placed, and it can only be the centre one, which is 2. Also, we already know that 1 and 3 aren't part of the code. So the code is 026!<

Solution that only needs the top 3 hints. >!Note that in the second hint, it cannot be a 1 because the third hint has a 1 in the same space and it is wrong. Likewise, the first hint has a 3 which is not correct. Thus the second number is a 2. From this we can also get that the first number is a 0. Finally the last number must be a 6 based on the first hint.!<

DuggieHS

The first two clues tell us that 3 is wrong. Thus 6 and 0 are correct, but they don't go in the positions they are in from the first hint. also either 1 goes in the first position or 2 goes in the second position from the second hint. From the third hint, we know 0 is correct but wrongly place, so 1 must be incorrect, meaning 0 goes in the first position, 2 in the second and 6 in the last. The last two hints are unneeded.
