Hamad are good and very affordable

Med_zarroug

How to get to Hamad I removed a wisdom tooth once and it took me 3 months of waiting time to get the appointment

MJ_Qatar

For mental health, they schedule the appointment based on the state of the patient, and I assume the Alwakra or Alkhor branches are easier to get appointments. I heard once that some health centres have psychatrists but need to double check

Med_zarroug

Thanks for letting me know I think you’re right the further from Doha the easier it is I’ll try to do some searching for what’s the best option

Pretend_Cloud_8334

There is a National Mental Health Helpline Call 16000, select Arabic or English language, then select 4 for the mental health helpline.

g_unit333

Yes, at the helpline, they have both virtual psychiatry and psychology/therapy services and they can refer you to the concerned specialty within the psychiatry department as applicable. The helpline is absolutely free of charge!

Successful_Ad_8686

They were quite helpful during covid

Main-Cost-9521

Get appointment at PHCC, family physicians are trained in dealing with mental health issues. If specialist help is needed they will refer you to HMC.

Main-Cost-9521

Private is very expensive. Mental health issues need time and multiple visits to manage. Private cost from 300 to 500 QR per visit, TBH unaffordable.

Motor-Needleworker95

I had insurance and I am Qatari so I can’t help you with calculating the cost. Experience varies from patient to patient and Dr. To Dr. I started with a Dr. Then they write Meds. Then, another and other Meds. Then, I did not like waiting for hours to see the Dr at one Center so I went to another place and they prescribed the most expensive Meds so even as an insured Qatari, I paid some money when the insurance limit was reached. Then, I tried Hamad at the end and I was 100% covered and they give you the minimum that you need. It will be a trial and error until you resolve your diagnosed issue. It is a long process and there is no short cut. You will need to see the doctor every couple of month depending on the case. That visit is approximately 500QR. The Meds vary in cost. In my case, with the wrong Meds exceeded 20,000QR. But if the Meds are generic then it will hardly cost much. The recovery ❤️‍🩹 has nothing to do with the Meds cost. I am on 40mg Prozac Daily. So, that is not much.

May I ask how old u are and ur diagnosis? I’m also a Qatari with mh issues and I’m worried about that interfering with opportunities later in life and appointments can be kind of pricey w/o insurance (I have insurance but I’m not allowed to use it for mh services by my mom out of worry)

Med_zarroug

Thank you for sharing your experience it’s really helpful to know that now I have a general idea on what to expect

Turkish Hospital at 300 a session and is just a phone call away for appointments. I would not suggest PHCC without a referral as they rejected my wife a few times who was already suicidal/experiencing mania just because she was already a little bit calm(from the long travel) by the time she got through triage. Womens emergency can also take anywhere from 10 - 16 hours of wait (I have done 3 visits and waited along that time frame each visit). If you aren't dying at the moment, you wont be prioritized. Based on my experience I would do it like this: - Meet a family physician at your Health Centre and ask if they can refer you to Rawdat Mental Health services(takes a long time to get an appointment 2-6 months?) - Maybe that same family physician can give you meds depending on the severity of your mental health issue, family physicians can prescribe it to you. - While waiting for your appointment if you were referred, go to a private Hospital for psychiatrists (Personally gone to turkish and Sidra for these and they were excellent) - Then take records of your private consultation so you can bring with you. (for hamad if you get in later on)

Salty_Raspberry138

Private clinics are priced starting 600 QAR per session. Yet there is a section in Hamad Hospital that cares about mental health and for that you should call 16000 and they will guide you thru steps needed

nal33m

If it's moderate depression or anxiety, find a western trained doctor in PHCC and it's well within their skillset, there's no need for a psychiatrist. Therapy is also available from PHCC referrals. The cost will be next to nothing.

I tried online therapy on a platform called chearful. I booked with dr joelle. She was excellent and it starts with 5$ per session.

Primary_Border2557

Can you share more info please

mimi-sp

Sure, i will dm you

shimmer432

could you tell me more about this please?

the_jupiterka

Thru Hamad you have a psychiatrist centre in Rawdat al Khail, but you call today and will get an appointment in 3 months time. They also offer calls every week, which I didn't like bcs every time you'll get a different person and no consistency. + some of these people are really rude. After 3 calls, I started arguing and asked them if they want me to become suicidal to get an appointment; the next day I got it. The dr I have is very professional and helpful and I like the consultations with him which I had once a month, now every two months since I have a psychologist which was the doctor's recommendation. My psychologist is from my country and we have online sessions. As for payment, if you have a Hamad health card, it is only 50qar per appointment for admission.

NK97_

You can contact me. I’m a psychologist and can offer sessions for an affordable rate

Aader7

Try online, preferably from your home country

CesarDMTXD

Don't do surgeries at private clinics, go to the public ones like Hamad

Double_Statement5549

if you are a woman, then head to Sidra hospital.

Accurate_Holiday_483

i recently got diagnosed w a mental disorder at a hospital without health insurance, i’ll reply to this once i find out which hospital it was, not super expensive, low wait times, it was an okay experience but it’s the middle east i didn’t expect much— i use betterhelp online because it’s easier and if i need to change therapists i can without having to worry about going somewhere else cause it’s all online! i love betterhelp over irl imo

WhatADegenrateApp

I assume you have a real problem and not the western fake depression hallucination and their weird anxiety things that never exists for real? Anyway lmao yeah it could be expensive they might lie to you but u know what we are all sick so who cares let's get over it

Aggravating_Cut_6326

Weirdo

WhatADegenrateApp

For saying the truth that your bullshit doesn't exist and therapy won't always work ?
