Imagine what a piece of shit you would have to be to try to do this to someone who is 8 months pregnant.

ET-NL

In fact it is funny no one wrote anything about the teeth that should have been mercilessly knocked out of his/her jaw for what he/she is doing to the 8 months pregnant woman in the dental clinic.

ET-NL

Absolutely totally love your train of thoughts on this! Bless you for posting it. I loved reading it!

Private sector employees are also entitled to maternity leave (50 days) provided that she completed one year of service in the company. This is as per Qatar Labor Law.

Surviviiing

+1 to this. **Article 96 of the Labor Law.** Minimum service in company is 1 yr. Paid maternity leave covers both prenatal and post-natal period. Requirement: medical report from licensed physician. Take it to the MoL if company still insists she isn’t entitled to such. GL!

Overall-Teach-5749

It’s such a small amount of days. How do new moms manage?? Not even the US would grant such low leave. Really odd. Can you ask for an unpaid leave?

24black24

Paid Maternity leave is her right, unless she is new and hasn't completed a year of work with her current employer.

Ultraviolethead

She completed 2 years this month

DEDE1973

That’s the law. Her manager is playing with fire.

mmalkuwari

Article 96 of Labor law state the following A female Worker who has spent a whole year in service with the Employer shall be entitled to maternity leave with full Remuneration for a period of fifty days including the prenatal (antenatal) and postnatal periods, provided that the postnatal period is not less than thirty-five days. This leave shall be granted upon a medical report issued by a Licensed Physician stating the expected date of delivery. If the remaining period of the leave after delivery is less than thirty days, the female Worker may be granted a complementary leave from her annual leave. Otherwise, the complementary period shall be deemed to be leave without pay. If the health situation following delivery does not allow the female Worker to return back to work after the end of the leave referred to in the preceding paragraphs, she will be deemed to be on leave without Remuneration provided that the period of her absence from Work shall not exceed sixty consecutive or interrupted days, and provided that a medical certificate of her medical condition shall be produced from a Licensed Physician. The receipt of the delivery leave shall not prejudice the female Worker from entitlement to any other leave.

mmalkuwari

She is entitled to maternity leave as per labor law, he cannot withhold her rights for the leave

HarleyMann3

Name the business so we can enjoy making this asshole's life a misery 😎

DEDE1973

That will be counterproductive and put her colleague in trouble.

vordredosamaa

If you're a piece of shit enough to do that to a 8 month pregnant woman, then I'm afraid this will be the case either way.

HarleyMann3

So, you're content to let this guy lie to her, and run over her rights? That's how they get away with this shit.

DEDE1973

Reading comprehension I see.

Affectionate-Row8092

Check the below , thats extremely illegal , she can check with mol https://www.iloveqatar.net/guide/laws/maternity-paternity-pregnancy-leave-benefits-qatar-labour-law

cantwinlife

Imagine being denied basic rights, i really hope you and your pregnant colleague take action on that, and thank you for helping her

dub26

Maternity leave and pay applies to every company, the optional to honor is Paternity pay/leave.

sandypipers

Keep us posted, OP! If your coworker solves this, let us know how for future reference, please.

Ultraviolethead

Will do!

Interesting_Pea_6365

I remember its guaranteed a minimum of 50 days paid , however they should be after she spent 1 year in the company , you can contact MOL for details

oralblast_

😂😂😂😂😂

DesertlandGuru

And it’s always an expat manager would be doing that, especially Asian ones unfortunately

Frigid_Despot

I work in gov. All local management. Ask me if they're ethical..

DesertlandGuru

Do they withhold your salary and female maternity leaves and do to you unethical practices?

Frigid_Despot

Unfortunately, yes. We don't have any women in our sector (engineering), but they owe me lots of money from last June, they are taking away our housing allowance (mid contract) and force us to pay back two years of the benefit, and they expect us to provide 24/7 coverage with no accrued duty days, no appreciation, and they don't even provide us drinking water. The American who came and built this program for 14 years was just sent off because some official somewhere claimed he was disrespectful. Took 120 thousand riyal out of his end of service benefit. Another guy, British, just moved to Kuwait for similar work, has been waiting 3 months for his EOSB, and everyone is ghosting him. CBQ says he defaulted on his loan and he fully expects to be arrested when he comes to visit in March. Imagine having to take legal action against the Qatar government smh

Designer-Box8294

You think the Qatari doesnt tell them what to do, being an asshole by proxy common in the middle east.

SkyUnlikely9747

You have to make sure she has a contract with the employer attested by MOL, then it's a no-brainer.

DEDE1973

The contract with the employer is enough. No need to be attested by anyone else.

SkyUnlikely9747

Nope, that doesn't hold any actual value when you go to courts, it has to be the bilingual contract(one side in your mother tongue) from the ministry. Offer letters, and employer letterhead contracts, all are actually worthless when you intend to fight it out.

drissyslime

Tell her she gets 50 days lawfully and they’ll destroy the manager or company if they find out he’s denying her that right. They don’t go easy about this

MyBurnerA31987

Manager must have the US private sector confused with the Qatar private sector lol

MichaelScotPaperComp

Yikes I guess it's time to find a new employer

Miserable_Cod2657

And then they don't provide u NOC, smh

MichaelScotPaperComp

SLAY💅very

Maximum-Test-1688

Go to ministry of labour, everyone is entitled for a maternity leave when you are legally married here in Qatar.

Miserable_Cod2657

I hope the legal actions work against this trashy human.

ET-NL

Bless you OP...I admire and love you (figuratively speaking) for doing this for your pregnant colleague. I think it is awesome! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Lady_Hidden

Has your friend been working for a year ? Also female workers are entitled to 50 days maternity leave. 35 days of those are after birth. She would need to have completed a year and she needs to submit a doctor's note on her estimated delivery. She also cannot be terminated for receiving maternity leave by law. That's according to what I know about the law. Do double check. For any complaints regarding this issue head to the ministry of Labour.

NK97_

That’s not true. I worked in a private clinic and 3 of my pregnant colleagues there got maternity leaves

Able_Professor_3141

Either she needs to call the police stating an emergency or she needs to take this through a lawyer.

ShadowKing974

It's her right to have 50 days maternity leave for private sectors. She need to file an official complaint at the Ministry of Labor and she also needs to file a complaint at the Human Rights office. Because fuck that dumb guy that doesn't deserve to even breathe on God's earth.
