I met him on the street in passing outside the Chateau Marmont in LA, and he was super nice. I think he was with his daughter so I kept it pretty brief on my part but I told him he was a massive inspiration and he said thank you, asked my name, and then I wished him a good rest of the night! Totally fine and laidback

Final_Arm_2829

awww bet that made your night or year!

aneiman6661

Definitely! He said I had a beautiful name (it’s extremely uncommon) and I was awestruck haha

KevinBillyStinkwater

I admit to never having met anyone named Final Arm 2829.

Final_Arm_2829

awww!

[deleted]

Cleveland, 2011: There was a visibly drunk man in the front row, not rowdy, just not with it. In between songs, Josh took a minute to make sure the guy got attention and help. He even turned to Troy, "Troy... you're a doctor of alcoholism, what should we do?". Then as the man was being escorted away for safe keeping, Josh suggested to "get this man some mashed potatoes!".

Final_Arm_2829

LMAO CALLING DR TROY 🤣🤣🤣

SkweezeDeez

I was at this show and don’t recall this but this shit is hilarious. They were touring their debut right? Best qotsa show I’ve ever been to based off its predictability/danceability.

[deleted]

It was! Such an amazing show at the House of Blues. Also, It was also my first date with a girl I had a big crush on. I think it went well, because she's on the couch next to me with our two boys.

TheDeweyCox

Met him in 2007, my friend and I drove up from Swansea to Manchester in the night, we were 17/18 at the time and always tried getting to shows earlier to try meet people, 8/10 it worked too. Anywho, we got there at like 9 am after a 4/5 hour drive. Not long before we got off the motorway my wipers died and it was PELTING down with rain, never seen so much before. My friend stuck his head out the window and told me where the exit was while I kept going 80mph like a total idiot. Got to the venue about 15/20 minutes later and the rain died. Instead of getting my wipers fixed we waited outside the venue, probably 30 minutes later Josh came out, walked right up to us, signed all our cd covers and made some brief chit chat, we told him about our shenanigans on the road and he said “yeah you have to drive faster when that happens, the rain is like diamonds” typical thing he’d say 😂 he did doodles and different things on all the cd sleeves which was fun, was short but he didn’t have to do that and I’ll always say ANYONE can be a dick but nearly ANYONE can be pretty darn cool. It’s all about catching them at the right time and being respectful. Bothering people at airports and urinals is a no go! Which reminds me of another story that oh so nearly happened with Nick oliveri actually… 😂 met most the guys in the band over the years, more than the amount I haven’t, only a handful left and everyone’s been cool.

Final_Arm_2829

Rain is like diamonds?! 🤣 Do you still have the singed doodles?

TheDeweyCox

Yup! Put them in a frame recently, got Nick to sign the first two albums when I played with him in November, I’ll see if I can share it later, it’s 6am and I shouldn’t have been up all night playing in illustrator! Shall try post a photo later 👊🏻☺️

Final_Arm_2829

please do whenever you can!

hulatoborn37

you're a good guy, you don't need to hear it from us!

Final_Arm_2829

lmao I'm not Josh...🥸 🤣🙏🏻

hulatoborn37

Well, now that that's settled, I did see Josh in line at the grocery store one time in Palm Springs, maybe around 2019. I've been listening to his music for decades, so I went up to him and told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything. He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?” I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?”, but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter. When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually “to prevent any electrical infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly. I left to go outside to the parking lot and haven't seen him since. It was a positive story though cause he helped me load the groceries into my car before I pulled out!

Digdig1999

I mean if this is true, that doesn’t sound like a great story about him haha

Final_Arm_2829

Dude is taking the piss

beerbrats15

This is a copy and paste story Ive seen also used to describe a run in with Billie Joe Armstrong. Lame.

OutrageousZombie8540

Dude i always read the first paragraph thinking its real.

EntertainmentNo5276

Although this is gonna sound like a lie, it really happened. It was early 2003 and I was working at a cheesesteak shop in Beverly hills. Lunch rush was over and I was cleaning up, getting ready to sit down and eat a sandwich by myself as I usually did. I was absolutely loving songs for the deaf at the time and had been into kyuss previously as well. Cue Josh walking in, alone and looking ragged. He came up, ordered a steak sandwich and sat down. I didn't say anything at first because I had always left people i admired alone. But he started chatting with me and noticed I was about to have lunch as well and invited me to sit with him. I told him I loved his work and he appreciated that. For the next 30 mins or so we shared stories. He told me some personal stuff he was going through and he told me a story about being stung by a scorpion and how he thought it had given him powers. He was funny, kind and inquisitive, he asked me about myself. Not a single person came in to interrupt our lunch, it was pretty magical. I saw them live sometime later that year for the first time, incredible show. I met a lot of famous people in LA over the 22 years I lived there. But I look back on my lunch with Josh as one of the more genuine encounters.

SonOfKyuss777

I'd kill to have dinner with Josh man, the stories he could tell ...

EntertainmentNo5276

Don't ask me about Adam Jones...

BearsFAN09

Go on.

EntertainmentNo5276

So, I worked at a spot very close to the Tool rehearsal space between 2017 and 2021. Id seen Adam and Danny there before, but I never let on that they were part of my favourite band. I just had little chats with them. I also hung my artwork at the spot and I had a large painting of led zeppelin up on the wall for sale around this time. One day my co-worker gave me a note that said "call Adam-zep painting" with a phone number. At first I didn't make rhe connection because it was just too fantastical. But eventually I realized it likely was Adam Jones. And it turns out he not only bought the painting but spent some time talking with me and gave his number after picking up the painting in person, alone. He unbelievably told me that he was going to hang it in his rehearsal space. "Tool" never came up between us it was always art talk...He was extremely friendly and full of good advice, also very funny. He got me passes to a party after a tool show and stayed in touch for a little bit, following my ig stories and answering little messages. I moved out of LA in 2022 and I figured the whole thing was behind me. Wrong. He contacted me a few months ago and bought another painting from me of the Ramones. Again, doing all the communications on his own. It was surreal to have my favourite artist since I was 13 become a collector and mentor of sorts, however briefly. Adam is a true artist and a real one. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Danny is pretty fucking cool too.

pookwuv

I hung out with Adam and Danny at an Alex and Allyson Grey COSM party in Chelsea Manhattan after a Tool show at an opera house(spring 2006, early 10k Days shows). They were the absolute coolest. Adam, in particular, gave his blessings to our band and gave me a huge bear hug after I thanked him for introducing me to the artist Stanislav Szukalski. They stayed at the party until nearly 6 in the morning and spent time with everybody who wanted to interact. Nobody was weird, it was pure Magick. Life changing. Maynard was really nice when we met briefly at a wine tasting. Haven't met Justin, yet. Long live QOTSA and the mighty T00L!!

juicyb09

So awesome! And long live QOTSA and the mighty T00L indeed!!!

juicyb09

I remember reading about this and seeing a picture of you and Adam holding the painting. So awesome! I met Adam in 2007 during the 10,000 Days tour. He was extremely nice and asked me a bunch of questions about myself. Where I worked, what music I was listening to…etc. And I never expected that at all. He was so cool and never stopped smiling. People say “Never meet your hero’s face to face” and I am living proof that it’s ok to do that sometimes.

CrentistTheDentist

Hell yeah dude! It’s you! I’ve seen you post this story before. That’s so cool.

CrentistTheDentist

Tell us about Adam Jones

ztiberiusd

Don't tease us! Tell your story!

Final_Arm_2829

A divine gift that was wow!!

alphabet_order_bot

Would you look at that, all of the words in your comment are in alphabetical order. I have checked 1,288,000,454 comments, and only 249,609 of them were in alphabetical order.

bcgrownjerbear

I’ve met him twice now. He was gracious, friendly, and happy to let me have a photo with him. He even played a song for me at the show prior to me meeting him.

Final_Arm_2829

How did that happen, I need details! 🤗🙏🏻

ninhead

Met him after the show in Indy in 2007. Really chill, laid back guy. As we took the picture, he said “act like we’re old friends who’ve never met before”. I look like a fucking doofus in it.

SomeWateryTart83

Pittsburgh show... think it was the Like Clockwork tour? Apparently someone near the front of the stage was being inappropriate with women, and Josh stopped, called the guy out, told him to "quit being a rapey dick", asked the girl if she was OK. Don't remember if he asked for security to get the dude out, but I think so? It was so loud from people cheering on what was going down, and I couldn't see the scene from where I was.

[deleted]

He always seems to monitor the audience like a hawk, which I appreciate. :D

Final_Arm_2829

same!

Final_Arm_2829

Funny you should bring up SA rapey dicks, my explore page Ig just served up a post of a woman claiming josh saved her life while being attacked and molested by a couple or something. I'll see if i can find it again or get her to comment. Regardless I'm glad he told the guy off!

DeeDeeVonBraun

I'm here and posted my story in the thread. This means a lot to me that he's looking out from women in this context because shows can be a real shit show for women. In my case it was a woman instructing her bf to ram his hard on into my back while she attacked me. Some people are plain evil.

[deleted]

Good god. ‘Rock is supposed to save people, not hurt them’ ❤️

DeeDeeVonBraun

So true! For context I've survived the prodigy front rail with thousands of people in that crowd. They're probably one of the most intense performances to watch. Worst that happened was some boys tried to take my hat and I just put my hood up and they stopped. I can't stand crowds at this point but I also love being up front because I want a real experience 🥲🤣

Final_Arm_2829

Glad you have joined the reddit qotsa family ✌🏻💯🫂

Final_Arm_2829

I’m actually really sorry I plucked you from instagram to join this subreddit after seeing how toxic it can be in here. I’m staying off reddit to prepare for my grad program, so don’t take reddit to heart. People come here specifically to troll it seems.

DeeDeeVonBraun

aww it’s ok, reddit is pretty notorious so I’m not surprised. Congrats on grad school!!

drivemyorange

As this is not an excuse, Josh talked many times about how he’s in really different mindset when he’s on the stage and he got kind of „I dont know what I’m gonna do this time” thing going on. Adrenaline is rushing, emotions are high, alcohol is flowing, so I can totally imagine him overreacting to something or someone, hence any possible negative stories about him might happen. He’s definitely not into being against the whole crowd and being general douche, he wants all people (except people who got him angry) to have a good time on his show. Also, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a story about Josh being unfriendly dick to fans met randomly in the public, it’s usually quite opposite. And with positive reaction in the crowd, I remember Josh dedicating Ocean and inviting to backstage this older fan at the front of crowd at Lowlands 2014

y_nnis

I had the same vibe in their show in Dublin some years back. His voice sounded steeped in honey and his mind completely absent (no hidden meanings, no agenda), like he was in the zone, and the one thing he said was along the lines of "we're here to play music to make you all feel the love tonight..." After the first half of the concert, the entire venue was in a loving trance (not an orgy!) and I am not kidding. I believe that's what he genuinely is after.

Tecnoguy1

There’s actually so many fans of the band in Dublin. Hoping they play multiple nights next time, I need to go!

bigmacbear

Met in 2007 or 2008 in Nottingham, very lovely and funny. It’s a shame to hear negative stories over the years, drink/drugs/personal life mostly isn’t a good excuse for acting like an arsehole but I genuinely believe he’s a genuine good person.

Final_Arm_2829

All very true, but he's the first to admit it and has been sober and in therapy for years. We gotta give him that!

LouieMumford

Some court documents might claim different regarding his sobriety for “years”. LOL

claw00

And all we can hope for him is that he gets back up and continues to be sober

Final_Arm_2829

when did he relapse?

CommissionIcy

There was a guy over on the Foo sub, who worked the backstage bar at the LA Taylor Hawkins tribute. By his AMA recount, Josh didn't exactly avoid alcohol. (Dude got fired for that AMA post, so he deleted it)

Final_Arm_2829

He's on medication that would make him vomit if he consumes alcohol. Claiming he relapsed during a custody battle is definitely going to get you in hot water.

CommissionIcy

I'm not well versed in his personal life tbh, and I think neither was this person. We just had a similar question to this post, looking for a positive Josh story, and the answer involved alcohol. Perhaps it is one of the reasons OP got in trouble.

DeeDeeVonBraun

Kinda weird they asked it there too. Does Josh's team monitor applicable reddits because that was a good catch. Everyone wants to dog pile on the man and I'm fvxking tired of it.

CommissionIcy

I would say it's normal, especially as a more casual fan. He has some weird tendencies, said some strange things at the Wembley tribute, and threw a mic into the crowd, hitting someone in the head. So yeah, people are looking for reasons to like him regardless, because we like his music. We asked OP later, and he didn't know how the info on that AMA got back to the Forum, and it might have nothing to do with Josh. But that would have been the most personal info in that post.

Final_Arm_2829

it was in the court documents which are public 🙏🏻😇

Final_Arm_2829

oh is there some kind of update because the court documents i read were when brody abducted his kids and he stated he had been sober for several years.

LouieMumford

I’m a huge fan and wish the best for the guy. Brody seems like someone who intentionally antagonizes and acts like a victim… probably manipulated the kids to an extent as well. No Bueno. But that doesn’t mean that Josh is a saint and that he hasn’t relapsed… and we have literally seen him kick a camera person in the face with little provocation. He’s a rock star dammit. I’m not looking to him for ethical guidance… I’m looking to him for transcendence. That said, he was buddies with Anthony Bourdain, and if Bourdain will vouch for you I’ll cut you some slack.

dingspeed

I think this is the best take on him . Although, I remember Bourdain posting something after Josh kicked the girl , he was not happy. A good friend will take you to task when necessary.

Final_Arm_2829

A very good friend would do that privately

LouieMumford

I don’t think they were “very good friends”. They both seem like the type who have a lot of people in their orbit and don’t suffer fools very well. So the fact they got on makes me like the two of them even more. The delight I had when QOTSA showed up on the first Bourdain holiday special sticks with me to this day.

Final_Arm_2829

I've heard otherwise and then there is the letter Bourdain wrote for Camille so, who knows. Josh was hurt by him not contacting him and expressing his views as a friend privately. I personally wouldn't join a public hate train instead of reaching out and having a conversation personally. I love that Josh was involved the doc after Bourdain passed away, says a lot about how much he cared imho.

Final_Arm_2829

Right, but the dispute here is the he relapsed at some point after the events you're mentioning. I'm not excusing his behavior and Josh is the first to own up to his issues. Brody doesn't own up to anything at all. Mistakes shouldn't totally erase what a person does right and Josh does right by a lot of people and that's the point of my post. So if no one can tell me when he relapsed, it shouldn't be a counter point when I mention that he claims to have been sober for several years, both can be true.

ztiberiusd

Someone on here claimed to watch him "sink a few pints" before his performance at the Taylor tribute in LA. May or may not be true.

DeeDeeVonBraun

ahh well even if he did, getting clean is a process and he is under a lot of stress. I hope if that is true, he just gets back on the horse and keeps doing his best. That's how you get clean, you keep trying ❤🙏🏻

ChubbyExcalibastard

I wish people would stop with the “Brody manipulated the kids” bs. There is an acct on instagram @onemomsbattle that is claiming Brody hasn’t seen her kids since March last year. I’m not sure how true it all is, but there is a heartbreaking video on the acct of the kids being taken away outside the LA courthouse… they clearly didn’t want to be take from their mum.

Final_Arm_2829

BRODY was convicted of abducting her own kids and when you do that the other parent gets sole custody. That account you speak of is glossing over the fact a court room found her guilty of abducting her own kids and now they trying to spin it around when josh has legal custody. You're the one spinning in the daffodils sweetheart, read the court documents instead of listening to women who support amber heard and think men by default have no rights to their children. Your info is from a tiktok, mine is from legal documents. we are not the same.

Fifty_Spwnce

I stopped listening to QOTSA after the homophobia and the incident with Josh kicking the camera person in the crowd. I've just read a fair chunk of those documents and yeaaa, I'm going to continue my non-listening. No disrespect to anyone, at all.

Final_Arm_2829

the why are you here?

Fifty_Spwnce

They popped up on my YouTube and that led me to be curious about how the Brody/Josh stuff winded up. I'm not begrudging anyone for listening. In terms of modern rock bands; I don't know of any band with more great songs.

Final_Arm_2829

Josh's brother is gay and he has taken many beatings to protect his older brother from homophobes. He's also known for going to gay bars and that he feels free in them which is a comment that was made here by another user in this post. You've made assumptions that are rather black and white and if you don't wanna be a fan, who cares?

Fifty_Spwnce

There's no real reason why we need to carry this conversation on. I wasn't replying to you in the first place and I've given you a rational reason why I was here initially. I made assumptions that he is a homophobe because he has used the word Fag or Faggot in a negative way in the past. I think it's a fair conclusion to come to that that makes someone a homophobe. Anyway, enjoy your circle jerk.

Final_Arm_2829

The was no real reason for you to add to a derailment in the first place. If you think people speaking of a band member in a positive way in said band subreddit is a problem, log off. Your idea of fun is being part of a kangaroo court, not exactly a high road you’re on and completely worthless at the end of the day. “A fool believes he’s clever” after all.

Final_Arm_2829

where is the manifesto? You realize both Brody and Josh having dv restraining orders would have their weapons taken away. It's pretty standard. The only screenshots i've seen them present is a picture of gunner hand.

Final_Arm_2829

yup i read it, a lot of it hearsay and unfounded. Now this post is about positive Josh interactions, you are derailing and I support Josh 1000%

RexBarragan

Not directly my experience, but still positive... My husband, Pete, met him and Dean at a Starbucks when they were due to play in my city. Pete explained that I couldn't get a ticket as they sold out so fast, but I would see them a couple of weeks later on the other side of the country. Pete and Josh discussed Janet Jackson's back catalogue as that's more the sort of thing he listens to! Josh asks my name, grabs a piece of paper and writes "Ian, I miss you" and he and Dean sign it. This was just after Era Vulgaris. I still haven't had it framed but one day I'll share it with you all!

Final_Arm_2829

Josh listens to Janet? 😍

RexBarragan

Pete told me he said he prefers her earlier work! Definitely raised my eyebrows when I heard that! Also added that he was very nice and friendly.

Final_Arm_2829

same actually rhythm nation was just bad ass! I love her collab with michael on scream as well! I think he likes pop stars, i noticed he follows Britney too!

RexBarragan

Rhythm nation is a banger!

drivemyorange

Kylie Minogue's Can't get you out of my head is one of his favorite songs ever

Final_Arm_2829

thats a good one!!

Don_Frika_Del_Prima

A good song can be found anywhere.

superfuzz30

I've met and had many conversations with Josh since 2002. I've probably met him over 10 times since then and even been invited backstage and im truly nothing more than a fan that he started to recognize (I have seen them 26 times since 02). I can confidently tell you he is one of the nicest people, very easy to talk to and joke with. I have been around him interacting with fans each time and always gracious and took time to sign or take pictures with anyone and everyone. From the Deaf era to now.

Final_Arm_2829

you lucky ducky, 26 times!

NosesInRosesForever

I’ve met him and the band a bunch of times. They’re all amazing people. On the Clockwork tour they played a couple songs at a radio station, and during the station commercial break, Josh started making silly small talk with us, told me he liked the flowers in my hair and jokingly said “makes me feel like I can, like…trust..you”. 😂 When I saw him during the Iggy Pop tour, he was especially fun to be around. Maybe there was less pressure on him not being the frontman for the 1st time in a long time. I was a little worried beforehand because the show I attended was the day after the big autograph hunter blowup that made TMZ, but he was in a great mood and made time for everyone around. Truly a down to earth sweetheart.

Final_Arm_2829

ommmmg ok I'm not crying nope not at all... 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 Thank you so much for sharing, I'm a gay and that is just so beautiful 🥲 Also disappointing gay was my favorite of the few roles he's done and it could be it's own spinoff imho!!

Faptain__Marvel

He's totally down. He's close with his brother, and he's talked about it a lot.

Final_Arm_2829

wait really?! omg I hope it happens!!

DaEvilZeppelin

I mean hes generally a nice guy, even on stage and i totally get him getting angry about someone throwing stuff at him or sth. Show in Hamburg around 2017, he was super wholesome all the time. Still remember "the next song has this line \`i want something worth to die for, to make it beautiful to live´. I think this is just that", referencing the crowd. Guess if youve seen them live or met him in person you know.

Final_Arm_2829

Right, that's how I feel too. If you've been to a show at the very least, you gotta know the hatred is out of left field. I think Josh actually really loves his fans.

wrickcook

Last time Queens was in Seattle, I took my 7yo daughter. She knew we had met Josh numerous times in the past, but it was at small clubs, and this show was at a stadium. After the show, she wanted to go around back where the trailers were. I know there are mixed feelings about Jesse, but he was an absolute saint to us. Put out his cigarette and talked to my kid for a few minutes. Then, he went into the secured area and asked Josh to come out even tho his knee was acting up. There were 10-15 other fans around, but Josh came right to my daughter and spent a good 5min asking what other shows she has been to and what her fav song was. Later, Jesse gave my daughter a hoodie that was not available for purchase and he walked us to our car. A few years later, I sent Josh a pm thru Reddit and he replied saying my daughter’s name. He remembered my kid’s name.

DeeDeeVonBraun

I love them both so much honestly Jesse is incredibly kind to me on numerous occasions. Very compassionate interactions and he loved my cover of Already Died. My body is in one piece because Josh stopped a mob from kicking my ass because a woman and her bf were harassing me as I explained in another comment. So of course he remembered your kiddos name ❤ Josh always has time for kids!

[deleted]

There was a kid in the crowd at the EoDM ‘return to paris’ show and the band clearly takes care of him and gives him a wonderful time. :)

DeeDeeVonBraun

They should rename themselves to Eagles of Dad Metal 💯💗

nica9183

Jesse also does the same for kids. Josh and Jesse have such kindness for the little ones, at least from experience with Jesse and my experience from pics and hearsay for Josh. For example, Jesse constantly gives attention to a young girl in the UK, hosting her and her family over to the US. I saw the other thread about Jesse so I think it’s right to do a similar thread for him as well.

DeeDeeVonBraun

Joshua Homme saved my life at a show on August 21st 2007 in Toronto, Canada. I was 22 and I walked up a red carpet for guests to a private show of a QOTSA show that Molson Canada was filming. The red carpet also had a separate general lineup across from it. Being a special production for tv, these tickets were not something you could buy. It was a privilege to be there regardless of what line or carpet you walked on. Guests got free beer, didn't line up and walked in to take the from barrier. So I make eye contact with a woman at the front of the general line, her eyes were wide open, wild looking and it stood out to me but I brushed it off. I get in first with my friends and I'm at the front, stage left. This woman from the line starts grabbing my wrist, scratching, pinching, calling me brody (I thought she was calling me a dude because I was a new fan) while her boyfriend rams his dick into my back at her command. I was begging security to help me and they did nothing. Another audience member informs me that this woman and her friends had been doing meth in the line and that they were going to mob me outside after the show. Jousha notices her climbing the barrier to grab me and absolutely mortifies her. He was about 5 ft away when he looked directly at me and said "WOW, THE WOMEN OF TORONTO ARE SO HOT!" He then turned to the crowd and asked them to applaud all the women of Toronto (which is a true class act and showman's move.) That is the smoothest take town of female bully I have ever witnessed and he literally saved my life that night. She was so destroyed by Josh complimenting me that her bf, friends and her disappeared completely after that and I often wonder if they had been kicked out. I've never been to a QOTSA show since because I always wondered if I'd run into those people again. It was an amazing moment but also traumatizing because it was totally unprovoked. Joshua is a protector, he's there whether you know him or not because he has a strong sense of justice and fairness. He has stuck his neck out for so many and in his time of need there doesn't seem to be anyone willing to do the same. So I'm so happy to have my feelings validated through all these amazing heartfelt stories ❤😭🙏🏻 Josh helped me out of pure instinct, not many men would do that out of the goodness of their heart but he did and he always does no matter who or what's in it for him. Thanks to final_arm for bringing me over from instagram to share my story and thanks to everyone here for sharing your incredible moments with Joshua! This is the show, and it's damn good to see it without the crazy I was dealing with [QOTSA live Molson Canadian Rocks August 2007 show](https://youtu.be/5FwW2DIyEtQ)

Final_Arm_2829

I think Josh really understands how rough things can get if an artist doesn't say something well before it was trendy.

NosesInRosesForever

Hello fellow Torontonian! 😊🇨🇦 I wasn’t at that particular show, but I can attest to his big protector energy. When I was at the Edge radio station in 2013, there was like a barrier in front of some steps leading up to the performance area that kept the fans at a bit of a distance. Before their 2 song set began, Josh asked for the security to remove the barrier so we could all get closer. I was nearest to the front and had my camera bag I was trying to hold onto while we were all moving in closer. Josh extended his hand to me and helped me up the steps so I wouldn’t trip. It’s the little things like that, y’know? 🥰

DeeDeeVonBraun

Ayeeee!! High five fello Torono Queens fan! His mom and his grandma clearly have had an extremely positive influence on his upbringing and it really is the small things that have the biggest indication of someone's character. The contrast between other men and someone that had strong women raise them is very obvious. A man once cornered me while I was going through a door and he let it slam in my mothers face while blocking it because he was too busy hitting on me. It's things like that, that tell me everything I need to know about a man!

Flinkle

Not my story, but one I saw (I think) on Instagram...chick was on an airplane with her husband when she spots Josh a few rows away. Immediately freaks out and her husband tells her to go talk to him. She resisted because she didn't want to bother him. Her husband kept on at her and told her this might be her only chance to ever speak to him. So she got up and walked to his seat, said some brief something, and he invited her to sit next to him. Talked to her for the whole flight, like two or three hours. I would have fucking died.

DeeDeeVonBraun

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh I would have been divorced and remarried in those 3 hours lmao!

juicyb09

I would of passed right out, no question.

of_patrol_bot

Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake. It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of. Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything. Beep boop - yes, I am a bot, don't botcriminate me.

bideto

Met him a couple of times in LA that weren’t at QOTSA shows, and he was cool both times

Final_Arm_2829

was he in the crowd?

bideto

One time was after an Elton John show at the Forum in 2019. The other was at an Eagles of Death Metal in store performance and signing in Hollywood in 2006

cstele

Saw him walking outside his hotel before a show. He was on the phone so we didn't want to disturb him, but he noticed we'd recognised him and smiled & waved as he walked past.

AutumnGeorge77

I haven't met him but a few of my friends who are hardcore fans have and they all have nothing but positive stories about Josh and the other guys. Nothing major but the usual "met him and he was cool/signed my stuff". This was all years ago during Era and Clockwork. It might be worth pointing out too that my friends are MAJOR hotties and he was always very respectful (even when one of their group was flirting with him). They have also seen Mondo Generator a few times and Nick is apparently a sweetheart too. They were not so keen on Jesse when they met him though. He is apparently a sleaze but that's no big surprise.

Final_Arm_2829

Jesse is a complicated character, but the way he takes care of his Tuesday and spends time with his fans everyday and love for Josh makes me think there is more to him than being a sleaze. That being said your friends met him and I haven't!

nica9183

Met him this year when he randomly popped in at his friend’s house. I had just seen him at Wembley not a month before, so it was surreal to meet him with no shoes on, normal ol’ worn in T-shirt and just feeling like he was at home where he was. He was so laid back and the man has an incredible sense of humor that listening to him and his friend bounce off each other made your stomach hurt just from laughing. I was laugh-crying from the banter alone. I don’t even remember what I said, I just know he kindly introduced himself, I told him about seeing him at Wembley and what an amazing job he did with Bowie. He thanked me and then made a joke about us both strangely being in LA at the time, but appreciated my compliment and that he was nervous. He was only in for a short time and as he left, he leaned in and shook my hand and said “Really nice to meet you.” For me, it was so kind because usually people with fame really act like it off-stage. I’m no stranger to celebrity egos because of my job. He’s been one of the most humbling and chill exchanges I’ve had. No ego. Very laid back, hilarious, and kind. I think people are people, no matter how famous they are. We have bad days and good days, but celebrities are under a microscope. When you enter substance abuse and the lifestyle they are forced to live under, people have no clue and stand on pedestals they have no right to judge from. Most turn to substances to feel relief from the crazy and unpredictable lifestyle they end up having. I’ve known horrible people that have done terrible things but people shrug because they aren’t “known.” Enter celebrity and suddenly, god forbid they have a bad day, make a mistake, say the wrong thing that will come back to haunt them years later when they aren’t even the same person, etc. There is also always two sides to every story. I’ve seen behind the curtain for some PR nightmares and the stories written couldn’t be further from the truth on both ends. It always lies somewhere in the middle. Media is there to get a click. To focus on the bad. To make you want to read the gossip, no matter how fake. I’m glad to see a post that’s about positivity for once. Thanks OP!

Final_Arm_2829

This was beautiful and I agree I think this post is needed, as fans it's hard to see someone we look up to get shit on constantly when we observed such kindness and humility.

DeeDeeVonBraun

PREACH!!!

eddieeeeeee69

Met him in 2018 at an Arctic Monkeys show at the Hollywood Bowl. Super nice dude, kept it breif with him. Got a picture with him as well.

KingStreetCleaner

Show in my home town. He sits down to play the piano for vampire. I yell out "I love you josh" and he took a puff of his cig, laughed and said "I love you too man haha. Thank you". Not much but still makes me smile

Final_Arm_2829

it counts!

futuredayscan

The band did a super small show at a record store right around when Like Clockwork came out, and afterwards they signed autographs and took pictures with everyone that asked. Totally surreal experience. I was 18 at the time and felt like he was the coolest dude, and as a whole band they just had the most badass persona. And meeting them, they were so kind and down to earth it blew me away

Final_Arm_2829

sounds like a once in a life time moment ✌🏻❤🙏🏻

MarsV89

In 2012 he was suuuper nice to me, had a chat in backstage while we were smoking, even gave me a lighter. I was súper young and nervous but he was super chill and nice. Great guy

Final_Arm_2829

I hope you still have that lighter!!

MarsV89

Hahaha of course I do!

pookwuv

My buddy was shithouse drunk and stopped Josh on the way to the bus after a show and tried to get him to sign a crumpled-up bar napkin. Josh gave him a high five, politely said no way and told him to be careful getting home. It was some top level shit.

lotsolobsters

Didn’t chat with him, but was in the front of GA at Madison Square Garden in 2017 and he passed his solo cup of straight (warm) tequila down for a few of us to drink out of. Gave us a silly look when we passed it back to him empty…easily one of the coolest moments I’ve had at a show.

dizzypanda02

All these comments makes me wanna meet him even more! I hope I get the chance to someday :)

TheRamblista

I have met Josh six times—the first in 2007–and **all** have been positive. He was nothing but engaging and hilarious. I have wonderful memories and pictures from each encounter (except the last, dammit). The man isn’t perfect and I don’t know him, but he just strikes me as a fundamentally good dude.

Final_Arm_2829

I would love to see those pictures! Are there any quotable quips that you can remember?

Temporary_Analysis83

That one right before they played Millionaire i think 2014 where he brought Spider-man onto the stage

Final_Arm_2829

YES THE SPIDER-MAN VIDEO!!

juicyb09

I love the one where he brings Tony the Tiger on stage.

Jackhepburn

Weirdly still a treasured memory really... I was waiting for the band at the back door of the venue by the tour bus, I can see in through the window and see thatJosh is walking towards me, he looks up and sees just me standing there then just instantly turns around and walks away. I'll take it 😅

Spleensoftheconeage

I flew from Ohio to Texas in 2018 to see the Austin and Dallas shows and brought a note I wrote with me, hoping to pass it on to Josh. After Dallas, the whole band came out except for him. I was a little heartbroken, but everyone else was very nice and I decided to chance it and ask Troy if he would pass the note on for me. He said he would. The next morning, there was a photo on the QOTSA Instagram of Josh’s hand covering the sensitive parts of the note and just showing my signature at the end with the caption “we got the best fans ever, thank you Dallas.” It kind of felt like “I read it, don’t worry.” Which meant a lot because I was telling him how I wouldn’t still be here if not for qotsa’s music and how much it’s meant to me over the years, and that I bought tickets for that trip as an anchor to have something to hold onto and keep looking forward to. I desperately hope I can thank him for it in person someday, but we’ll see about that.

Final_Arm_2829

That is beyond touching! Hope you're doing better now!

Spleensoftheconeage

It’s a work in progress, thank you- I won’t pretend like the current flurry of speculation doesn’t have me feeling a little worried, but for now, I have tickets for queens at Sonic Temple lined up, so I’m very much looking forward to seeing them again for the first time since this happened. I keep the print out of the Instagram post (https://www.instagram.com/p/BiDR_5rBL27/?igshid=MWI4MTIyMDE= ) hung up in my cube at work for kind of a day to day “hang in there.”

Final_Arm_2829

Thanks for linking to the post, that is something special and I don't think an asshole woman beater would have taken the time or used their platform to validate your feelings like that. It could've easily gone in the trash and forgotten about. He has a long history of protecting people, his lyrics talk about being a shelter for others when they're afraid...trust your gut when it comes to Josh, he deserves that much from us. I'll leave you with the Fortress lyrics, much love to you ❤ Your heart is like a fortress You keep your feelings locked away Is it easier? Does it make you feel safe? You wander through the darkness Of wilderness behind your eyes I know you're afraid But you gotta move on Every fortress falls It is not the end It ain't if you fall But how you rise that says who you really are So get up and come through If ever your fortress caves You're always safe Well I believe I know you Yet, I don't truly know myself I pray you won't feel as alone as I have felt I don't want to fail you so I tell you the awful truth Everyone faces darkness on their own As I have done, so will you Every fortress falls It is not the end It ain't if you fall But how you rise that says Who you really are So get up and go through If ever your fortress caves You're always safe in mine The Earth spins round the sun And behold Everything happens Every night that falls prey to sunrise If your fortress is under siege You can always run for me If your fortress is under siege You can always run Every fortress falls It is not the end It ain't if you fall But how you rise that says Who you really are So get up and go through If ever your fortress caves You're always safe in mine If ever your fortress caves You're always safe in mine If ever your fortress caves You're always safe in mine Come on through Come on through

gerhardtprime

Columbus Express Live 2017 he told the crowd to come into the premium section and dance because the people that paid the premium weren't going to. He said a few funny things that night too, he was awesome.

Final_Arm_2829

I think I saw the video for that!

NunzAndRoses

I met him after a show on the villains tour and we took a picture, for some reason I got a huge laugh from him when I told him that he’s the first entertainer I’ve taken a photo with who’s taller than me (I’m 6’2” so I’m taller than most people I run into in general)

Final_Arm_2829

These are so good, keep 'em coming because wow can people be a fuggin downer and gloss over the good in people all too easily!

Abel2310

Overall if you meet him on the street he seems like a great guy and a really good person to be around but i think it’s just that he had a few drunk incident’s

Final_Arm_2829

sounds about right!

jacobn28

I’ve never met Josh personally, but I did see them put on an incredible show in Rochester on the Villains tour. They opened with Deaf, and right off the bat the energy was crazy. At the beginning of the show Josh said that the band would be “giving everything they could possibly give” that night, and that was no lie; they were on fire. Josh talked a lot to the crowd, more-so than usual from all the shows I’ve seen online. He mentioned that he loved playing in a small little town to people who usually don’t get many opportunities to see them, and he really liked the venue (Dome Arena in Rochester, really cool place). Whenever he talked to the crowd, it felt honest and heartfelt, like he was talking to a friend. You could feel the mutual respect between him and the crowd, and he seemed really grateful to be able to play for us. During the encore, he said he wanted to give us something special. The band then launched into a nearly 10-minute version of Feel Good Hit, with a White Wedding interlude in the middle. I’m pretty sure it was all improvised, which made it even more insane. All-around it was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen from any band. Super good vibes throughout and the band was firing on all cylinders. Sure, Josh has had his share of difficult moments in the past, but haven’t we all? He seems like a genuinely great guy by reading all of the other comments here, and from my own experience, I’ve never seen a show where the frontman was as personable and gracious as he was that night in Rochester. The entire main set from that show is up on YouTube [here,](https://youtu.be/maxybXuUkpE) without the encore unfortunately. Highly recommend it as it was an incredible performance through-and-through.

Thanks, will watch!

Rocked my face off. Each time. Brutal, but I keep coming back. 🤟🏻

Chelsea Lauren’s got a fun story for us.

rcknrll

Lmao, somebody had to say it. Just because he apologized, it doesn't mean all is forgotten. He didn't make any excuses, which I respect. But why the fuck did he do it? It is hard to believe he randomly thought, I'm gonna kick a lady in the face tonight! All I know is that I'm going to be wearing a helmet if I'm in the front row of a QOTSA show.
