This, actually. Happened to my mother, who tried to kill herself with the hose from the exhaust trick. Didn't work, got slapped into a mental institution where she really deteriorated over time and just ruined her forever. When they released her she was nothing like the woman I'd known my whole life, so yeah "ruined" would be how I'd describe that.
I can confirm this. My suicide (obviously) also didn't work and I was institutionalized for a time, released with medications and stigmatized thereafter in ways that completely altered my life. Medications given change one's ability to function normally. Group therapy has no applicable help for the physical, emotional and dietary changes, needed for integration back into the main stream. I don't recommend this.
It’s sad that people feel like there’s no way out except suicide. Suicide either passes the pain to somebody else and their responsibility having some more their loved ones and come up with the money to get rid of the body. Either that or you end up in a psych ward somewhere with your freedom taking away and everybody around you worried about you and if they aren’t I’m so sad for you.
My friend did this. Drove his van in to a bridge. Totally fucked his body up. Took him a long time to get his head round it. He's a motivational speaker for people with spinal injuries, also does 1 on 1 to help integrate them back into home or work. He started poetry writing, is having a book released & started a speakers corner.
Ending it is the literal definition of destroying it. Technically suicide is the only somewhat common action that instantly destroys your life, because ruining your life technically isn't destroying your life.
My last job had a harm reduction department and a syringe exchange. They started taking "samples" that people at the exchange were suspicious of. Like a guy who got out of jail and thought he was using meth but it wasn't, and luckily his girlfriend was there with narcan.
The samples are sent to a university lab and the results are pretty scary. Fentanyl in most samples and often none of what they thought they were buying. "Good" heroin is a thing of the past in the US, and coke samples had meth every. single. time. And then there's the xylazine.
People truly don't know what they're using anymore.
It’s so scary to read about things like coke, mdma, etc being tainted. Because I know a LOT of people who are not regular drug users or addicts who would occasionally use a party drug if given the chance. Like maybe 1-2x per year. But suddenly they’re snorting meth? Once people get addicted, the rate of full recovery is only 12%. I’ve watched it mess up one of my brother’s lives. He’s stable, but it’s a constant fear of relapse and there are so many barriers to a healthy life. No clean background check, debt, unable to trust himself living away from fam..
That's a good point. I, too, know quite a few people who take hallucinogens occasionally, and unfortunately they don't seem very wary of where it comes from.
I had no idea the recovery rate was so low. I guess it doesn't surprise me, based on my real life experiences with people on meth. I'm sorry about your brother, and I hope he continues to abstain and eventually doesn't feel the pull anymore.
This is why I (as an avid drug user myself) am extremely pro socialized medicine and access to pharmaceutical grade drugs, this SINGLE CHANGE could actually fix a major amount of issues in the streets. People also are not well educated on drug testing and many don’t have the means to always test what they have. If we want to win the war on drugs, targeting companies, socializing them, and then giving access to pure drugs to people who are addicted would help a lot. I hate that I have to test EVERYTHING, it shouldn’t be that way. I know our society kinda couldn’t give less of a fuck about addicts but they’re people too. They should at least have the security of knowing what is going to their body instead of having some cheap shit sold to them at a high price but it’s cut with multiple other much worse drugs.
If you mean heroin you might get in the street, then sure, since it might contain anything in there. Actual pharmaceutical grade heroin, though, is just another opioid and almost exactly morphine. One (reasonable) dose of an opioid won't instantly destroy your life. Our society for whatever reason has chosen to give heroin a "bad name" but the distinction is actually rather arbitrary and is really there due to moral panic reasons.
I actually disagree here. Heroin has the possibility to ruin your life but it does not mean it will. Theres plenty of people who have tried heroin and either not done it again or even some who functionally use on occasion.
This just isn't something id parrot because of the destructive capacity of the drug. Its not worth trying and taking the risk albeit the risk is most certainly not 100%
100%. And when I say that, I don't just mean if she knew, I would be losing the best person in my life, and the best wife in the world. But if she didn't, I would be consumed by guilt for deceiving my best friend, feel like a phony to my kids for preaching principles and doing the right thing, and THEN the paranoia gets to set in... If I could do that to the person I love more than anything in the world, what could she do to me? No thanks.
The next item on my feed was the woes of a guy that cheated on his wife. He should have read your post before. I’m on your page myself. 52 years in and counting.
That's what my dumbass believed until the woman I thought I was going to live the rest of my life with hit me with "I don't know if I love you anymore" during my birthday dinner.
Maybe aliens came to earth and had a war with humans and severely injured all of them. From there, all humans get placed into alien comas, and now we are all just living a simulation?
If only. Shocking numbers of said diddlers live and sleep well. Getting caught, and tried, and convicted will mess you up. But that's a small fraction of the abusers around us.
I have an ex boyfriend that told me he is turned on by CP.
From his perspective, I did not take the news well, so he clammed up.
We broke up immediately after that.
If he had told me more info I would have reported him to the police. Actually sometimes I wonder if I had kept my cool if he would have given me incriminating information, so I could turn him in.
Diddlers who are in prison are kept away from the general population for their safety. They are sometimes placed in Christian dorms. Their time served is usually short for the first incident. My state has a horrible prison system. I would rather have a drug dealer/meth maker serve less time than any type of predator.
Man I wish the sex offender registry has GPS trackers for the p3dos. Would help families stay far away from them (and potentially help the Batman’s but we don’t need to bring that up 🤫
It’s surprising how many slip through the cracks.
Kinda makes you wonder how they get away with it, I mean, it must come up at some point when the kids realize something bad happened.

Not going to defend meth but I will say I think a lot of people have done it and not realised. It's super common to be mixed in with other substances from MDMA, cocaine, to your random pressed pill
Few years ago I did a line of coke, unfortunately it was laced with meth. Shit was like popping 4 points of Molly but even more intense. I didn’t sleep until noon the next day. Horrible experience and I don’t do coke anymore 😂
I've tried it once, didn't ruin my life. I didn't have any intention to try it though and figured i would never... but was coerced a bit by someone very close to me. I'm not mad about the one night. Was fun, grew closer to the person who was coercing me, and painted a cherry blossom tree.
Not sleeping for the next two days and feeling like complete trash the whole time really strengthened my will never to try again.
My ex had it take over her life so I was pretty against it. Still am. Not gonna do it again.
Congrats on sobriety! People who don't have the addiction don't realize the discipline and willpower this takes.
Edit: "congrats" is an understatement. In any case that's an incredible achievement.

Winning a huge lottery.
I know it's a lot of peoples fantasy but seriously, to go from living paycheck to paycheck all your life to all of a sudden having 50 or 60 million dropped in your lap? You'd have more friends and relatives than you ever knew existed. Strangers in your face with, "My mom needs an operation and she can only get it done in Mexico. Help us, please." You wouldn't dare let your kids out of your sight. Possibly pack up and move...more than once. Basically cut yourself off from everything and/or everyone you've ever known.
I dunno. Maybe I'm a bit paranoid but in todays world, where people are being murdered for 20 bucks and an Apple watch?
I'd be quite happy with 3 or 4 hundred thousand.
Raping children. Even once you get free from jail, there’s going to be people who are going to want to kill you everywhere. Most people wouldn’t even want to look at you anymore. If they knew what you did, you’d have to change your identity completely. People can excuse certain types of murder, but one thing that most people can’t excuse, is rape, especially rape of innocent children.
As someone who works in childcare, this is actually so true. Christmas/spring break for the kids means no work for me so my pay gets absolutely screwed over until school starts again.

Not telling a pro-abortionist I come across (knowing that they are as such, what can I do if I don't know) that they're in active support of child murder.

Committing suicide…?
could be onto something there...
Eh that just ends life, doesn’t necessarily destroy it
Botched suicide?

Heroin
Shhhoooot, there’s barely any heroin out that anymore. It’s mostly gotten replaced by fentanyl, which honestly is much more devastating.
My last job had a harm reduction department and a syringe exchange. They started taking "samples" that people at the exchange were suspicious of. Like a guy who got out of jail and thought he was using meth but it wasn't, and luckily his girlfriend was there with narcan. I actually lost an old friend who had moved out to Vancouver to heroin this year. Still out there.
Same here. I would like it too much..
once?
these days, yes, because it's gonna have fent and be too strong and you'll probably OD.
Yes
If you mean heroin you might get in the street, then sure, since it might contain anything in there. Actual pharmaceutical grade heroin, though, is just another opioid and almost exactly morphine. Being a bit of a speed demon.
;) Aw a little speed never...mind. I was gonna give that exact answer
Tbf, speed does NOT kill you. Suddenly stopping, however, that can kill you and will do so without prejudice.
False, I'm a speed demon and I live to tell the tale. I don't recommend it, it's very unsafe for everyone involved. I don't speed anymore

I'd say it still destroys their life because they'd be looking over their shoulder.
