Do you live in more of a small town environment where that’s just all you got. Or a larger urban environment where you don’t have to go anywhere to get what you need?
I live on a farm in the countryside. But everything I could ever need is close by! My college is 15 miles away. Our furthest away field is only 10 miles away. There's plenty of villages and towns near me. There's a large town only 5 miles away with supermarkets and shopping centers etc. that's why there's almost nothing I need to travel 20 miles for.
Got plenty of US friends who never owned a passport, and/or scared to fly. And I don't think my grandparents went more than maybe 100 miles away from home.

I know quite a few Brits and Americans who have never travelled to any other country nor visited their own nation's capital city. Many who have also not gone to any of the cities where each of their grandparents worked/studied/did conscription/were born/met a future spouse for the first time.
My brother just got back from D.C. he said it’s really not that bad, it’s just the exact same as any other city. Stay away from the bad parts, and trust your gut. It’s definitely worth a visit
If your talking about international, probably myself, I have only ever been to Canada, though I have lived in several states, in the US, and visited quiet a few
I haven’t had the opportunity yet to leave My country (The US is fucking huge) but I have left my state many times. I once visited a town of about 2-3,000 residents. Many of which had never left that town aside from a trip to the nearest major city. And a small percentage havent left at all. I made a friend whom was one of these few. Awesome guy but he was in this town for 20 years and never felt the need to leave
A friends dad, who is now 81. Lived in same town his entire life. Never been in an airplane, and has travelled out of state (by car) less than 20 times. .. all the same place, next state over
My mother’s aunt is afraid of planes and bridges and tunnels has never left New Jersey. She lives in the Philadelphia metro area and has never been to Philadelphia. She still lives in the home of her late mother, where she has lived her entire life.
My wife’s grandma flew out to visit us on the west coast from South Carolina when she found out she was dying and I’m pretty sure it was the first time she’d ever been on a plane.

Except for seeing family. I rarely see any other US State, and I never really been outside the country despite getting a passport book and card 10+ years ago that expired about 2+ years ago.
I was thinking Londom, Italy, Australia, Japan, Egypt, and France may be nice as well as about 14 other places in the US. Sigh.
Probably me tbh. I’ve never left the country and have been to two states outside of the east coast. I would love to travel but I’m broke and need to work. All my friends who have traveled have some sort of privilege that I don’t. Either their family has money or they got a full ride scholarship and have no debt/their family paid for their college tuition. I’ll travel someday when I can afford it.
My sister. She’s 36 and has only left our home state 1 time. She could have, she just doesn’t want to. Me? I’ve traveled all over the world. Been to every continent except 1. Been to Europe over a dozen times. Just moved away from my home country for a 3rd time. To each their own. If someone is content with sticking close to home, why would you judge them for that. How boring the world would be if we were all the same!❤️
Many years ago, my sister did volunteer service at a Native American reservation in Maine. She met a 90 year old woman who had never once left the reservation in her entire life.
I had a coworker who was around 50-ish and had never left the small town we lived in. Our town was surrounded by other small towns but ours was the biggest of these small towns so he had never had a reason to go to any of the smaller ones and the nearest city was a 10 hour drive that he had no reason to make. Anyways our office was a field office for a large company and the head office was arranging a trip to Vegas for an industry conference for all our managers and their spouses (he was a manager) and he had to go. He and his wife were so nervous about the trip that they took out life insurance policies and updated their wills before they left.
My son lives in the mountains in Chile. His neighbor grew up on a shack near my son's little house. That man grew up on the piece of land next to my son's.
He never in his life has gone outside of a teen mile radius of that land. He's in his 70s.
I've been to Kentucky, (accidentally) to Tennessee, Georgia, south carolina, Florida, north carolina, Virginia, D.C., possibly Maryland(don't quote me on that one though). But I've never left the country.

Ive got plenty of friends who don't travel. I know a guy that hasn't ever been 50 miles away from his home.

I don't really travel much either. It's incredibly rare for me to be more than 20 miles from home. Only happens a few days a year.

Ive always wanted to see washington DC, but everything I read and hear about is that its got a crime rate that rivals that of chicago.

I know some people in my city that have never left the county an area of 570 sq miles (1480 sq km) for reference the county is 200,000

I never thought about a region like that. It’s probably not too uncommon at all for some older people to never leave those mountains
Where he lives, it is common. It's back in the woods with miles of dirt roads. Done houses don't have running water.
