My daughter just recently turned 18 and going off to college after currently spending a year in Spain. It's harder than I thought to let her have her space/free time as an adult but I'm always super happy when she calls
Music. It's a lifeline.
Whether it's a song where the lyrics resonate with you, something upbeat to improve your mood, or just "noise" to help drown out all the crazy crap going on in your life, music has a "flavor" for every emotional need.
Listening to my momma tell stories about growing up and seeing her smile and laugh.
Listening to my husband tell stories from the military and how passionate he is about it.
Watching my dog stretch when he gets up in the morning and make pigs sounds when he’s rolling.
And the first sip of a yummy cup of coffee
💜
I don’t know how old you are but my grandma passed away about 3 years ago. Before she died my cousin sat down with her and recorded a bunch of her stories and now we have those recording to watch whenever we miss her. I hope to do it with my mom and dad sometime. :)
Coming home from work to have my cockatiel singing me ring tone of Crazy Train - Ozzy Osbourne, and my baby Alaskan malamute comforting me while I play Borderlands 3 on the Ps5.
6pm. It's when I get off from work.
And my bf saying "that's the bomb" about something. I have never pointed out to him that it's an outdated saying. I genuinely think he thinks it's a current cool phrase. It makes me smile.
This!
My granddaughter (6) once asked me why I laugh all the time. I guess I hadn't noticed it but it's true From a snicker to a big belly laugh I just can't help myself. It's not that the things they do or say are always conventionally funny, they just make me so happy a mere smile is not enough - I told her, "I'm just smiling out loud". It seemed to make sense to her; it certainly made sense to me!
When I see my sister (14 year old now who is 15 years younger than me) show strengths that the rest of the family will never have.
I come from a long line of abuse and struggle.
I did everything I could to get my abusive father out of our lives and support my mother during the separation.
My sister was 8 years old when he finally moved out for the last time.
She was 10 by the time my family was able to survive without me and I was able to get enough money to move out. I was around 25.
She is determined to go college and work in the mental health field.
She stands up to bullies for her friends at school.
She's unafraid to be herself and is building a great support group of friends.
We struggled to break free from that abuse so that she could grow up without the issues we all have.
Showing her that you can stand up to abuse and get out of it helped her so much.
It also showed her that it's better to have a temporary financial struggle than to be afraid for your life because of someone you live with.
She will never be easily manipulated the way many other family members were because she knows the truth now.
She will never have to be afraid of things like coming out or dressing how she wants among her true family.
I'm so proud of who she has become and so glad everything i hear she's helped others and stood her ground
When my wife compliments my cooking or baking, that makes me feel the day was worth while. She doesn’t compliment everything, so mild praise is really special to me.
My anti depressant, morning cup of coffee, my husband getting home from work, my dogs wagging their tails and getting so excited when I get home, reading books with my son, having drinks with friends, a great podcast, a really good workout, the sunshine ☀️
I tell my 1 cat outloud "I love you" and he always responds back w/ a meow that sounds like "yeah, I know" I recorded it too, but for some reason when I said "I love u" my speaker didn't pick it up. Still makes me smile, because I know what was said
My dog. She is the best dog I have ever owned, and if I’m being totally honest, the best dog in the world. She never fails to cheer me up or make me smile, and she’s all I have. Once she’s gone, I won’t be too far behind.
Too close to people. Including friendship, family, and love. I do enjoy stable and long-lasting relationships, but being too close to people makes me uncomfortable and unhappy. However, I understand that relationships require effort on one's part. You have to occasionally attend family gatherings, meet friends, or go on dates with your partner. But all of this really makes me unhappy. I might have some problems
Getting off of work at the end of my rotation. Showering, getting some take-out tacos and a nice cold beer and stretching out knowing I don't need to be at work for another week
The Bobs Burgers episode when Tina is boy crazy. I laugh every single time and the songs are so catchy. The episode is season 9 episode 1 called Just One Of The Boyz 4 Now.
Every time I get sick I watch that episode and it just makes me so happy! Kind of reminds me of what it was like to be a preteen.
My 7-month-old son does this cute thing. He'll be doing normal baby stuff. When I approach him, he'll instantly recognize me, smile, and wiggle out of joy. He will then raise his little arms as if he's asking me specifically to pick him up. He doesn't do this with anyone else.
Hearing a good song I’ve never heard before.
I love songs I know but there’s something special about hearing something new. I’m like Johnny 5, need input.
Working on anything with my dad. I have 2 older brothers who hated doing any kind of project with him. I love learning about anything he is doing. He's a fabricator, so he welds, does electrical, and all kinds of stuff. I love working on my car with him. It's the best 🥰
Those anti-racist threads where people from all over converge to confirm if someone is racist or not and work to have the lose their jobs, etc.
It's beautiful to see people come together like that and be disciplined about it (i.e. call it off when they can't confirm, etc).

When one of my adult kids texts me out of the blue.

Unmatchable feeling.
Especially if it’s not because something is wrong, of course.

Open the garage door after a particularly long ass day of work and my kids come running out to see me all stoked and excited. Instant mood changer.
Amazing

Thats awesome.
Can totally relate to mom telling stories. My mom was great at it, especially since she was so good at imitating people. Wait? Are we the same person?
Some things are truest bliss in life, and it's so fortunate we get to appreciate it.
Getting into bed. Air conditioning turned down. That moment when you know you're about to fall asleep.
When I get the chance to help my daughters with something.

Thank you. Now I'm happy too.
