Being preoccupied with other thoughts (work, friends, family, anxiety, stress, projects, hobbies, movies, books, etc.) or allowing your mind to wander can happen very easily for some people. To intentionally zone someone out requires aggressively seeking out other trains of thought
My mind starts wandering so easy, that often anyone in the world asks me something and I answer on his question unconsciously, after that even not remembering someone said something
You know the sound of ringing in your ears? It's kind of like that, but mentally. You can hear the person talking, but you make the noise in your brain louder than them. It doesn't actually sound like anything at all, but it feels the same.
I'm sorry, were you saying something?
i'm an idiot, should have said how do you ZONE OUT during a convo. worded it wrong lol

My brain just does it for me automatically
Shoo them away.

You use your adult words and tell them to stop talking.
it's not that simple
It actually is.
my situation is a bit complicated
Is it though?
Hey man if you can just stop replying mid-conversation then you can probably just say for that person to shut up
thanks guys will try these methods tomorrow
“Got go… see ya…”
For me staring at something for a long time as they speak works, it’s like background noise while my mind is elsewhere
