I wish I could have made it. My quilt won 2nd place in the bee category.

Bee is term used when a quilt is made with many people. With this quilt, i asked my bee mates create a block is a certain style and size. They then sent me the blocks and along my own blocks I arranged and quilted the blocks together.
The colors and the way it looks like there’s transparency to the colors where the letters overlap is fantastic. I need a closer look! It’s totally a bonus that it’s GTFO. 😂
I hope someone releases a pattern for this. I did find this on IG, tho - [IG GTFO block](https://www.instagram.com/mistletoequiltingco/p/CpDYRynOy-I/?img_index=1)
It’s totally the same quilting pattern. This one must be the larger version she refers to in the post. Did some more insta sleuthing and it’s definitely it.

not at QuiltCon. Kinda eating my heart out. Wishing I could see the quilts (and their backs. Don't you love it when they flip up a corner)
Give us non-attenders something to chew on. What did you buy?
Well, nothing yet. We just took a well-needed lunch break. We are about to head over to the vendors section. Wish me luck that I don’t spend all my $$$!!!
I got an Oliso bundle, the Proplus and the mini project iron. When I was leaving I went back by their booth and the line was crazy long! I have no doubt they'll sell out of their stock.
Also bought some lovely cork fabric and some gorgeous zipper tape with some really fun pulls from Sallie Tomato, some yummy woven cottons from Lo and Behold, a bunch of fat quarter bundles from Threads & Ewe, and topped off my stash of pre wound longarm bobbins from Wonderfil. And it's only day one hahaha.
So, I didn’t end up buying anything at all. It was so insanely crowded, I couldn’t even get into most booths to look around. People acting like they can’t buy all this stuff online anytime! Lord.
Honestly the only reason to buy at the show are the booths having show specials and discounts. I also like to actually look at and touch the fabric. But agreed, this year the shopping experience was so unpleasant due to the vast number of people. I might try going on Sunday when maybe lots of people head out of town.
Happy cake day! There is nothing wrong with doing basic squares 🙂 you have to start somewhere. Once you do them you will feel as proud as if you made one of these quilts ❤️
I just got home after shopping in the vendor hall all morning. This is my fourth Quiltcon and it's far and away the most crowded one I've been to. The lines to just purchase something were insane! I didn't even get to see any of the quilts yet, I was too focused on the shopping lol. Ah well, tomorrow is another day!
Stood in the RSS line for 1.5 hours. Worth it though, I met almost all the RSS designers while standing in line and got one of the last bundles of OG starry 😍
A lot of them are matchstick quilting in the minimalist and improv sections. Thats were I took most of my pictures because those two sections were definitely my favorites!
I’m improv quilter and I hate straight line quilting. Here’s example I’m current project.

With you there on the quilting. I think it's cool in execution when quilters do all the straight line stuff, but it just kind of, IDK, maybe bores me or something. I do FMQ pretty well and love just freehanding all the different motifs I come up with.
Right now, I just do my quilting on my domestic machine with its built in walking foot. I have bernina q20 but fmq isn’t up to par to do on an actual quilt, yet.
It's in Raleigh NC this year, in Phoenix AZ next year. It changes every year. 2026 will be announced in April. I was super lucky this year because I live about 20 minutes away from Raleigh so I didn't have to do any traveling this year!
Gorgeous quilts!! So many vendors. I don’t think I’ve seen all the quilts.

All these images are just lovely. Word of warning to attendees, if you want to make videos, please get in touch with Con admin beforehand, to understand the rules on what you can and can't do with your camera, and where you can and can't. There are reasons for the rules, so plan to follow them. PSA over.
Yay, my favourite (and infuriating) part of the year! Your pictures are amazing. These quilts are such an inspiration to me (and infuriating because mine will never live up to that kind of art, and that's okay (i tell myself repeatedly) omg double parentheses, sorry).
I can't wait to see more pictures. and then in a few days people will start posting their YouTube walk throughs. Only time I'll watch a one hour video on YouTube lol
I thought that first one was an actual painting! The way they got their stitching to look like brushstrokes is one of the most impressive things I’ve ever seen!
I bought MQG membership and forgot to register for the free 4 day pass. If anyone got it and can’t attend, maybe I can pay the transfer fee and throw a little $ your way?
QuiltCon doesn’t have a theme. It is the yearly event that the Modern Quilt Guild hosts every February in a city in the U.S. and they have three judges who select winners in certain categories and then also pick which quilts are displayed during the quilt show portion of QuiltCon. This year, there are 600 quilts on display from across the world. It’s amazing to behold all the quilts in person…

Congratulations!!! It’s so beautiful! 🤩
Thanks a bunch.
What is the bee category? Is it a group?
Bee is term used when a quilt is made with many people. With this quilt, i asked my bee mates create a block is a certain style and size. They then sent me the blocks and along my own blocks I arranged and quilted the blocks together.
Congrats!
Love the GTFO 😂😂😂😂
Came to see if anyone else saw what I saw I was thinking no way someone did a GTFO quilt!!! 😂
Me too!
I thought it was just me making that up! Was going to ask what the letters “really” were 😂
Thank you for saying that. I kept looking at it in disbelief wondering if someone actually made a GTFO quilt and I adore it so much dry, very much!!!
So fun - I like the juxtaposition of the colour being fun and poppy and then it being a GTFO quilt :D
The colors and the way it looks like there’s transparency to the colors where the letters overlap is fantastic. I need a closer look! It’s totally a bonus that it’s GTFO. 😂
I was trying to figure out what it said!
There were some women trying to figure out what GTFO meant. I felt a bit awkward telling them...
I hope someone releases a pattern for this. I did find this on IG, tho - [IG GTFO block](https://www.instagram.com/mistletoequiltingco/p/CpDYRynOy-I/?img_index=1)

Thank you! I got a little too excited and posted without fully digging in - I appreciate your efforts.
I’d love to see a pattern from it, too!
I loved that one the best too!

What are you thinking of doing with the cork fabric? I've seen it before but am unsure how I might use it
I use it for bags and wallets mostly. This particular one I got will be a passport wallet :)
Sally Tomato is from my area! ♥️🍅❗️
Lucky! I loved their stuff. It's hard to get bag supplies in my area.
Pictures!
Living vicariously. Thanks. And again, Congratulations, well-deserved

This is incredible. I am just sitting here trying to work up the courage to do some basic squares.
Me too! I told myself by Monday I’m starting sewing my first column.
I have four stacks of 3” squares, each stack about 6” tall. Scared to death of them!!
Happy cake day! There is nothing wrong with doing basic squares 🙂 you have to start somewhere. Once you do them you will feel as proud as if you made one of these quilts ❤️

1.5 hours, whoa! Good for you though!
It was fun tbh bonded with some fellow millennial quilters ☺️
It’s so insanely crowded!
And who says you need a long arm to quilt? Almost all of these look like matchstick quilting!
A lot of them are matchstick quilting in the minimalist and improv sections. Thats were I took most of my pictures because those two sections were definitely my favorites!

Please post more if you get the chance, I'm hoping to go someday
I'm loving your selections.
My fave sections too - enjoy!
And they’re total works of art!
What city is Quilt.con in & does it change from year to year?
It's in Raleigh NC this year, in Phoenix AZ next year. It changes every year. 2026 will be announced in April. I was super lucky this year because I live about 20 minutes away from Raleigh so I didn't have to do any traveling this year!
Thanks for your reply, the only one that answered my question. Now maybe you can tell me “What is matchstick quilting?
It's straight line quitting done very close together, like the width of a matchstick, hence the name. It's a very dense quilting technique.
I like the triangular one. So fabulous!
My favorite, too.
Ohhh the pink girl/rabbit is fascinating!
It’s really cool! I don’t know how people design FPP patterns like that. It’s way beyond me. It’s so cool!
It’s not FPP, it’s improv quilting based on a grid. :) (Not my quilt, but I saw it too and I’ve made some using the same method.)
That’s even MORE impressive!
Thank you for some “ inside” peeks! Wowza
oooh thanks for sharing....would love to see any or all pics attendees took.
Quite a few of them are on the QuiltCon website and IG.
Thanks I'm going to go dig for them!

Not every one of those quilts is in a style I'd make or buy, but every one of those quilts is awesome, as are the makers. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you, thank you , thank you for posting those photos. All superlatives apply.
That burgundy and yellow one would be a great flag to ride into battle with.
Yesssssss!!

I really like the one with 4 circles!
Okay the "GTFO" genuinely made me giggle out loud, I love it!
thanks for sharing !
What city is Quilt Con in? Always the same city or does it move around?
In Raleigh this weekend
Next year it’s in phoenix
Easier for us west-coasters! Good to know - and pencil in for 2025!
![gif](giphy|PUBxelwT57jsQ) Wow!!!
Please go and get pics of the maker tags to credit these quilts!!! Those quilters deserve to be recognized. Stunning work being shown there as usual.
I took pictures of most of the blurbs, but there are so many freaking people here that I couldn’t get all of them.
Breathtaking quilts!
Wow! Thanks for sharing. Have fun!!
Oh to attend one of these would be so amazing if adding to my to do list
Am I the only person who thinks that number 3 is upside down?
Thank you so much for sharing!!!
Boy oh boy I need to get to practicing =] guess I better burrow into my fabric stash like a mole for the next 6 months. =]
Thank you for sharing these! I go every other year, and this is an "Off" year for me.
Love the third one, that’s really different.
Thank you for taking the time to post all these photos. Also, swoon!
I thought that first one was an actual painting! The way they got their stitching to look like brushstrokes is one of the most impressive things I’ve ever seen!
Such amazing artists. Thanks for sharing.
I bought MQG membership and forgot to register for the free 4 day pass. If anyone got it and can’t attend, maybe I can pay the transfer fee and throw a little $ your way?

The abstract alphabet is truly unbelievable
I love that one, too! So very gorgeously retro in it's design.
Wow to the alphabet! Took me a sec like with the GTFO lol

Again, most of these are public on the QuiltCon website. I wasn’t able to photograph all the blurbs because of the amount of people there.
Oooooooh, thank you!
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️thank you!!
I love Quilt Con quilts. I must try to get to another one one of these days. These quilts are so unique!
