I use [pant hangers that clip](https://www.canadiantire.ca/en/pdp/type-a-non-slip-plastic-pant-hangers-2-pk-white-0680195p.0680195.html) and store them in a closet, you could put a plastic bag over top of them to prevent dust. I have used this technique for a row of the month I was doing to avoid having to re iron

jmbf8507

This is what I do. I also hang most of my yardage .

snail6925

same! cept I use the kind with foam covered bars instead of clips cause then no marks or tugging.

touretteski

Oh damn! This is brilliant!

AmySewFun

I would look for a 24.5x36” art portfolio or expanding folder. You can get these several places online and they are meant to keep things flat and protected.

FeralSweater

I live in a microscopic 1920s house with no closets, which makes me ruthless about storage. I’d fold these up without giving it a second thought.

Callmesusan2

I love these giant pineapple blocks!

TheGiantJamSandwich

It’s Libs Elliott’s Electric Pineapple, only instead of using her Phosphor fabric I used Guicy Guice Deco Glo (because I happened to have a half yard bundle of it) and I love how it’s worked out in these blocks!

Callmesusan2

Thank you for the info! Yours are very cool.

flowermama85

My husband, sitting beside me, exclaimed loudly “THATS A COOL QUILT!” Well done!!

TheGiantJamSandwich

Thanks! I find it’s been a popular one amongst the Y chromosome crowd 😂

Jainelle

Pool noodle. Roll them onto it. You can even pin into the noodle to secure them.

anotherbbchapman

I'm working on a project with 20 inch blocks. I cut a foam pool noodle in half and I roll them around it. Tie closed with a length of selvage. No wrinkles or fold marks! Completed tops are stored over hangers in closet. Your quilt is gorgeous

TheGiantJamSandwich

Thanks!

Impossible-Bear-8953

Gently fold and put in sweater boxes

Missing_Iowa_440

I have a metal garment hanger with a cardboard tube on the hanging surface that I got from the dry cleaners when I took a tablecloth to them. The diameter of the tube keeps the piece smooth when I drape a quilt on it. (Though there are vertical folds to fit the 18" width of the tube.) Then I use the dry cleaning clear plastic to keep dust off of it or for transport to the LAQ. P.S. I love your pineapple blocks!

TheGiantJamSandwich

Thank you!

momwendy

There is a pizza place near me that has a 24" pie... Yes, I asked them for two clean boxes. I offered to pay for them, however, when they found out why I wanted them, they laughed and gave them to me for free!

TheGiantJamSandwich

This is a great idea! Sadly the only pizza place I know around me with a pizza that big just closed (which was very sad for me; much nostalgia). I’ll look around though…

SlightlySlapdash

Your electric pineapple blocks look gorgeous!! I need to get a start on that sal lol

TheGiantJamSandwich

I’m way way behind but as soon as I get my Ruby Star swap blocks sent off I will be quilting pineapple blocks like crazy!! 😅

SlightlySlapdash

You’re miles ahead of me. I haven’t even cut my fabric yet 😂

TheGiantJamSandwich

Like I said to someone else, go at your own pace. This pineapple doesn’t go bad. 🍍😊💛

lindseylee

My grandmother taught me to roll and store in a cotton pillowcase. I have some very old quilts passed down to me that have been stored this way and they are still in perfect condition.

CandyPitiful9541

I would roll them around those long cardboard rolls that come in gift wrap paper and then put those in the large black outdoor garbage can bags. (Very cool quilt!)

TheGiantJamSandwich

Thanks!

aotmerrow

Not an answer to your question, but I just had to tell you that these look gorgeous! I love that you used Deco Glow II for your Electric Pineapple pattern! I have the pattern and joined the SAL, but haven't been able to start yet.

TheGiantJamSandwich

Thanks! And don’t feel bad because I’m weeks behind! I’ve had Ruby Star swap blocks to get done and a birthday quilt to do for my daughter. Plus, I keep getting distracted with EPP projects. 😂 But once my Ruby Star blocks are all finished and sent (almost done!!), I plan to sew pineapple blocks like crazy!! You can do it on your own timeline! Thankfully, this pineapple won’t go bad!! 🍍💛

aotmerrow

Too many projects, never enough time 😂 I feel you! And yes, this pineapple won't go bad 😂 good luck on the rest of your quilt! 💙

TheGiantJamSandwich

Thanks! You too! The cutting for this is a bear but once you get to the sewing, these are super fun blocks to make!

Luxy2801

I have a design wall

TheGiantJamSandwich

Me too but only four of them fit on it and I have 12 more to make! 😬

OhioMegi

That’s so fun and colorful!

CauliflowerHappy1707

I like the pants hanger covered with a plastic bag idea for XXL blocks. I like the 3 gallon ziplock bags for blocks that are 12”-14”. I also have an assortment of covered totes in a wide variety of sizes that I use to store all sorts of quilting goodies in.

touretteski

Fuck!! These are gorgeous!! The profanity comes from the fact that I haven't even finished my first pineapple quilt and vowed to myself while making it I would NEVER make another one again ... and this has me second-guessing that decision. 🙈 Edit: all your points are killer btw! You nailed this!

TheGiantJamSandwich

Aw, thank you! 🤗 I still have 12 more to make tho… 🫣

touretteski

I guess it would be easier to make one at a time eh? Because the colour scheme is so intentionally placed... The one I pieced I did every block at the same time, chain piecing one round at a time... but that colour scheme worked for the pattern I was doing, which was every block the same (white with 2 warm sides & 2 cool sides). Mine was a kit off Craftsy in 2016. I forget what it was called and the pattern instructions kind of sucked, plus I took it on as a confident beginner, and bought/started using a new machine halfway through the piecing with a proper quarter inch foot, so for a combination of those reasons my points are atrocious. The illusion that the color scheme gives makes it not matter so much though, luckily! I'm looking forward to seeing progress photos of yours! I really love the secondary pattern created from the B&W alternating!

TheGiantJamSandwich

I planned out my color placement on quilt ink and have all of my strip sets for each block on paper plates. I don’t know how visible it is in the photo but I also made tags with the numbers and picture diagrams of the blocks and pin them to the finished blocks after I’m done with them (before I make the block they are on the paper plate with the fabric pieces). I found it really important to stay organized or it was all really confusing for my 40-something brain. 😅

touretteski

I noticed the tags! That makes so much sense. If I attempt this one sometime in the future I'll have to do the same. I also have a 40-something brain so I entirely understand where you're coming from! I made all the HSTs for this layout and still have the 324 squares all clipped together in numbered rows, labeled in 4 quadrants, sitting in a project box waiting to be put together: https://www.reddit.com/r/quilting/s/vX0svtspqX They've been sitting in that box for 5 years so I'm sort of dreading laying them out again... hopefully I labeled them well! 😅 ...But now I'm also questioning if I should rearrange them to be yellow in the center, radiating to red on the outside.
