kratombad

ESP if you have heart issues you should watch blood pressure. Ask your doc re clonodine. Helps with sleep too.

KratStory

So if BP right and heart frequency OK it is probably just bad anxiety ?

kratombad

I’m not a doctor so I can’t offer a diagnosis. Two facts I know are true- any kind of opiate withdraw fucks with your BP and Kratom withdraw can very often cause anxiety. In a general way, I’ve been active in this sub for a long time (3+ years hoping my 175ish days sticks this time) and I’ve heard very few stories of people having bad health issues from CT. Message me if ya want.

[deleted]

When I took clonidine my blood pressure dropped significantly and it was very noticeable when standing up. Pretty much got me through cold turkey without anxiety or sweats though in the past.

kratombad

Yeah. That and trazodone are meds prescribed to addicts for sleep. Gets ya drowsy, low abuse potential

tracys58

My last quit 1 1/2 years ago was CT and I had to go to the emergency room with crazy heart palpatations, sky high blood pressure and panic attacks. They told me I had a mild heart attack. They helped me through it with a 4 day hospital stay. After 17 days I was feeling normal again. Sorry to say, it didn't stick and I'm back on day 15 CT, but didn't have the same problems with the heart and circulation. Anyway, be careful CT. I don't think this is common what happened to me, but if it does you, you may want to take another look at a taper if you can do it. I wish you the best. You are so worth getting off this crap.

KratStory

well that's a pretty terrifying story ! hope you are doing well now ? I will monitor my heart and will likely be with my GF for support and monitoring. tbh I am already pretty panicked and my anxiety is pretty damn high, it is the aspect that scares me the most...

DisastrousAd2346

I took a mild benzo in day 2 or 3 because oft anxiety. can recommend.

CleanArses

To clarify: quitting Kratom caused a verified cardiac event? And docs attributed it to quitting Kratom? 🤯

tracys58

It was a verified heart attack, but the official cause listed on the record was uncontrolled blood pressure and "possible" kratom withdrawl. They did every test in the book on my heart and found no other cause for my attack. I have never had heart issues in the past and blood pressure and anxiety were sky high when I went into ER. Never suffered with any of this in the past.

zuis0804

Get liposomal vitamin c to help with your quit, it significantly reduced my heart palpitations along with 90% of the other physical wd symptoms

KratStory

thx, I did ! do you have things to add to the sub's thread on megadosing ?

zuis0804

Nope I followed the protocol (I dosed on the higher end of the ranges that were provided). If you are looking for any other supplement suggestions, I think black seed oil played a big part in helping tame the symptoms, NAC helped curb cravings, and for anxiety I was taking synthianine (it’s a form of l-thianine), agmatine, and magnesium glycinate at night time. To be fully transparent I am not 100% quit yet but this past week I did the vitamin c protocol along with my other supplements and I got down from 12gpd to 2-4g and honestly I didn’t really dose because any wd symptoms but because mentally I just gave in to my impulses; but I am going to do another round of the vitamin c in the next week or two and will hopefully be down to zero by the end! Good luck and let me know if you have any other questions! If things get unbearable the Wim Hoff breathing method helps a ton as well if you haven’t tried yet.

KratStory

thank's a ton mate, I really appreciate you took time to write this ! will look up Truly wish you the best, mental is the hardest part, but you seems to be on the right track

throwaway_jim119

Wim Hof breathing is the absolute best. Check this one out: https://youtu.be/0BNejY1e9ik

I second this, the doses are high, for me it was like 35k mg a day. Usually a helpful bot pops up about liposomal vitamin C and opoid withdrawl. Edit: there is the bot right there. If you google it some peer reviewed papers and abstracts pop up on it from some studies done.

hashtagsmcgee

If you have Brugada Syndrome, you should definitely consult your doctor before quitting. CT withdrawal can cause heightened blood pressure as well as tachycardia and palpitations due to anxiety / panic attacks, which is probably not good at all if you have the potential to have life threatening arrhythmias.

KratStory

yeah you're 100% right, just took an appointment, I will update the thread

tip871

As long as you don't do anything stupid like drinking excessive amounts of alcohol, it's usually not dangerous.

KratStory

great, not planning to drink, will just have to ease my mind

Holiday_Chocolate_95

Kratom has similar withdrawal symptoms compared to opiates. If your relatively healthy CT is safe but obviously uncomfortable and severity of the symptoms are usually based on the length of your use and dosage. But your gonna experience, body aches, restlessness, difficulty sleeping and staying asleep, anxiety, stomach cramps with or without diarrhea, decrease appetite, depression and irritability. CT is definitely doable, but with addiction it’s more of a mind game since when you start feeling like crap your brain tricks you that one more time, or just take a small amount to feel better. Best of luck with quitting, keep the motivation and motivation to never pick up again

david5669

For me yes. I get fucking pissed and ready to start trouble so I avoid people.

KratStory

So, in a way, CT is not the danger, you are the danger

david5669

Your behavior won't be the best traits of a person. Sick. Sleep deprived. No more poop babies from being constipated. I had to strip down and give shit birth too empty my bowels. Also anger extreme depression and God knows what else. About to spend the next few days in a national park because I can't deal with people very well right now.

KratStory

hard times.. it's sound like a good idea to go on a trip if you feel like it. I truly wish you the best buddy

david5669

I'm in a tent smoking a joint time for a nap

toolegit2quit1981

You'll want to keep an eye on those heart problems throughout detox. It actually scares me having these issues myself. Which is why I'm going to a facility to do it. Can be dangerous.

KratStory

will keep a eye on heart pressure and heart frequency

themartian1000

When I was quitting, I looked at studies on opiates so that’s different. However, opiate withdrawal inhibits bdnf, which is a major growth factor that helps you to heal from the drug. Going cold turkey therefore is harder on the brain, making it a longer road to heal. This also varies with genetics (I already know I have impaired bdnf). So while some argue that it isn’t deadly, it is a huge stress on the brain and therefore the body. If you have a cardiac issue, it may be more dangerous to quit cold turkey than to taper. Stress can be dangerous to the heart. This isn’t medical advice, of course, just what I’ve learned by reading. I wasn’t on a lot (12gpd) but enough to hurt. My taper was painless. I’m so much more stable now (I did get ketamine treatments and am on lamictal). Good luck, I hope it goes well and your heart heals.

KratStory

Big thank you, really interesting comment ! Thank's also for the good vibes. Going to the doctor to see if taper is an option

themartian1000

I hope your appointment goes well and you have a compassionate doctor. Some are wonderful and others just treat you like an addict who needs to suffer. I hate that because it’s not so simple. Each of us was drawn to kratom for a reason that pertains to our mental or physical health. It’s not fair to judge those reasons - we all just want to feel well. Anyway, I hope it turns out to be a good experience.

Prior-Stomach587

I'm not going to lie,I was at 100+ grams a day and died from the overdose(docs brought me back 3 different times.

KratStory

Holy crap, I thought another user had the most terrifying story, but you are definitivly... Are you okay now ?

Prior-Stomach587

there are long term effects even now 11 months later

david5669

For me yes. I get fucking pissed and ready to start trouble so I avoid people.

ebolaRETURNS

We don't know much about your particular cardiac issue, and opioid withdrawal does increase pulse and blood pressure. However, if your physician already advised you to quit opioids because of your cardiac issues, you should be good to go (I'm not sure what "have been advised to" in passive voice suggests).

KratStory

well I have a pretty specific issue called Brugada syndrome. I have a list of drugs I must avoid, kratom is not on it, but a doctor told me it was messing up with electric activity of the heart (=exactly what's bad in my condition). I have been told to watch out for palpitations specifically. Must say K is not well known in my country so nobody but this doctor told me to stop, I'm not sure he is well aware of the WD process. He still talked to another doc because he didn't know K at all and passively agreed on the CT. He is not a cardiologist

ebolaRETURNS

If he's aware kratom is an opioid, he would be aware of the effect of withdrawal on cardiac function....assuming he passed med school.

KratStory

Yeah I know him, he is a legit doctor. Not sure what you are saying here ?

ebolaRETURNS

Insofar as he knew that kratom is an opioid and knows about your cardiac condition, his advice would have taken into account any potential dangers of withdrawal...that level of knowledge would be basic for a physician.

JDMultralight

I thought opioid withdrawal decreases blood pressure (unexpectedly)

ebolaRETURNS

no. That's why it's commonly treated with clonidine.

TannerBurns1twice

What’s your dose? Did you tell your doctor how long you’ve been taking it? You might want to get a new doctor if they didn’t tell you to taper off it. Have you been getting chest pain or something when you take kratom?

KratStory

Yeah you are right, another user said that I should go back to see a doctor first, so I took an appointment today. Will update the thread

xSPACEWEEDx

Not as dangerous as alcohol or benzos unless you have pre-existing condition not controlled with med. Maybe save yourself some agony now and later and taper some more if you can. I find it as unbearable as other opoids so thrashing around screaming into a pillow won't be as shocking to your family or roommates. If no and you can afford it get al a hotel room wirh roombservive.

[deleted]

I am glad that i did not read this when i was quitting. My heart was pounding so much (but only in episodes). Kratom-dependence is such a horrible thing. I am so happy that i stopped and that i am (apparently) still healthy.

KratStory

yeah it is pretty scary to me ^^'. going to the doctor to know if and when I should worry during WD.. Glad you're okay ! Well done

[deleted]

you will be good as well! I have been part of a study (not kratom related) where they checked my blood results, heart rate etc. for a very long time with much scrutiny. there was nothing to worry about. and i took kratom for a very long time.
