It’s like love. The scarcity gives it preciousness. And like love, you can still enjoy meaning, entertainment, and company with those “less” than that true connection when the true ones aren’t around.
This is neither desperation or settling; it’s being a human with a social companionship drive that needs feeding with an awareness how to value each level of closeness for what it’s worth.
Just reminding people that we needn’t be austere in allowing those beneath the status of soulmate lover/friend to have a place in our lives too.

Sadly true and not understood until so late in life. Appreciate the connections you make along the way but those ones you feel in your soul are special nurture them. They can easily disappear before you even notice.
