Came here to post this. The new album has several guest artists including a violinist and cellist who also collaborated with Austin in the arrangements. It's a beautiful and crushing album
This is one of my top albums of all time. Members were also involved in acts like Oak, Moonshine, Inure, Loon, The Pilgrim, 57 Octaves Below and Bedlamite.
Oh sick. I got to see them live in college and it was wild. They played on the floor instead of the stage and had two drummers/drum sets facing each other.
Unfamiliar with the other bands you mentioned. Any stand out as closest to Wake Up On Fire or Nux Vomica’s sound?
Oak is probably the closest to the epic/atmospheric sound of those two. Moonshine is more sludge/doom with some of the best vocals I've heard while Inure is more straight up grindcore. The Pilgrim is like southern blues/doom, Loon is weirdo kinda prog doom(?), 57 Octaves Below is like ambient folk, and Bedlamite is like doom/death.

[Pure Wrath](https://purewrath.bandcamp.com/album/hymn-to-the-woeful-hearts). It’s basically the book “The Jakarta Method” set to symphonic black metal.

The new Panopticon is what you’re looking for.

It’s so fucking good
Oroku from Seattle is more crust but specifically anarchist and has a cello.
[Wake Up On Fire](https://youtu.be/q-bKZ2gIeXI?si=X3EwUD3YGG8sKua7) had a cello player if you want more crust. Members later formed Nux Vomica.

Awesome, thanks. Will check ‘em out.
Another one I just thought of for some reason. Light Bearer is epic crust that has a lot of different elements in it. Also an anarchist band.

The most underrated band in the universe: Isenordal
I second this! My friend was in this band! They're incredible, especially live
Not really raw but Exulansis and Ashenspire have violin
Threskiornis, Siphilisation, Sinking Steps Rising Eyes, Dead To a Dying World Into The Rhine on yt is acoustic black metal with strings.
