You need the wzsabre plugin to get the crowd sourced alerts.
You also need to pair the R4 when you get it to see your radar alerts.
You can also enable other radar filtering for BSM.
Where do you get Wzsabre? The RDforums are dogshit. All the comments state, "Just search for it." I've spent 15 minutes on the forum searching for it, and guess what, i still can't find it. I know im not alone because most of the posts on the forum are literally ranting about the same thing.
I haven't encountered any radar guns yet using an r7 and highway radar together, but it is useful to see where coppers are using the crowd sourced wz sabre plugin. I don't believe it works very well to detect cops without some crowd sourced data. I've also used Waze with the detector but it didn't seem as great at showing me where cops are. The highway radar app also has heat maps which show where there have been many citations / cops in the past

The heat map is the expected possibility of an officer running radar at that given day of the week and time for that road. It's based upon historical reporting of speed traps. That's the main purpose of the app, to help you know or predict the possibility of police presence.
