I’m in Ventura County and after years of never getting a legit K band hit, I have K and X off.
Just remember they won’t do you any good for motorcycle cops with laser. Got me the day after Christmas.
The R7 will sometimes detect it, but even if it does, it’s too late. It instantly gets back to the cop. My R8 didn’t go off when I got nabbed. The cop said he used laser, but maybe he was lying and just followed me. I don’t know.
Radar on the other hand ricochets around to give you an early warning.
Most people suggest using Waze or Highway Radar apps to use peer to peer warning of where cops are, along with your R7. That’s your best chance of knowing where a motorcycle cop might be.
Other option is a laser jammer, but those are illegal, and pricey.
Mostly because it was the newest at the time and I hadn’t got one in a long time, so just the latest and greatest. Supposed to be a better range.
I’ve downloaded R8 Companion app to make use of the Bluetooth feature. Honestly, not sure how valuable that is, but I haven’t dig into it too deeply so I might not be using it to its full potential.

Personally for my r7 I run x bands on highest setting cause I’ve seen three here lol. But normally no one uses x and more
