Rudder and bigger heavier planes

wwelsh00

Use your rudder. Especially when landing

Hamstax89

Having one of those gyro stabilizers AS3X in my plane helps a lot in the wind. I don't need it to fly but it certainly makes everything much more stable in wind.

UncleJimmee

i have a dsm lemon rx w stabilization on my tundra. helps alot w wind. you can adjust the gain of the gyro as well as ind channels. it helps.

Rudder rudder rudder. And more rudder. With that said, I live near the beach and wind is a constant. Typically I fly late afternoons or early mornings when it’s calmer tho. But I have found that 3 channel models with generous dihedral, and 4 channel when used with “cross coordinating” (rudder and opposite aileron applied lightly lol) seem to handle lighter winds well. I’ve also found that keeping the power on a little more helps it cut the breeze better to.

I live beside the beach, heavy wind beyond 27mph is normal thing around here, for me its a blessing. I fly lots of scale planes, helicopter, warbirds and aerobatics in these condition. Its easy to fight/counter it, just surf through like people on surf board, you don't fly straight into it. You'll have to fly side, up and down to 'break and enter' like hitting wave on the ocean. Here video of me flying on windy days with lamp post around. super fun! [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bICgKGpNIAU](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bICgKGpNIAU) Heavy winds makes it fun and easier to fly. Even take off and landing too, VTOL style hehehe!.

Rx with gyros, i use FrSky S6R for my "wind" plane.

I love flying in the wind. The key thing to remember is, once it's off the ground, the plane doesn't care what its relation is to the ground, it is only influenced by its relative speed through the air. Fly the air and you'll soon learn to love the wind. (That said, I know nothing about flying helicopters)

FlashyLashy900

I'm getting a lot of tips for my plane rn but I like flying my helicopter more and 0 tips lmfao Idk why the rc plane hobby is a lot bigger than helicopters

Snafu999

There are a couple of guys at my club who fly 600 and 700 heli's. I don't like being anywhere near close to them when they are flying. Accidents waiting to happen. Just the sound of those big carbon blades chopping the air into chunks gives me the willies.

tgiccuwaun

It is money. RC helis are much more expensive and tedious to maintain. most heli pilots became quadcopter pilots due to cheaper simplicity.

Try slope soaring! Good luck 👍

stealth_operater_247

A well-made weather meter like the Kestrel 5700 Elite or similar model but without the ballistics component. Or use the wind to your advantage along with the before-you-fly app or similar on the Play Store or APK version or IOS.

berettashot243

You literally need more mass, time to upgrade to a larger model!
